VEGANS: There is a vegan set menu, and it is phenomenal! Ise Suyoshi is tucked away in a quiet building, and seats only a select few. Those guests are treated with the utmost care and hospitality. Each course is a small dish of exquisite morsels, prepared with painstaking care and described by the chef as it is served. With the sake pairing, each sake was also described for flavor characteristics, and served in a unique vessel. The amount of food and sake was perfect, enough to be satisfied but not stuffed and slightly floating on a sake cloud. Each dish was an experience of flavor and texture. I had the vegan set and my companion had the meat set, and I was pleasantly surprised to note that every course was equivalent. Each was very different in terms of ingredients, but they had similar flavor profiles and were complemented by the same sake. Food was prepared with an emphasis on small businesses from the chef’s hometown, and a full-color book with photos in both Japanese and English was on display for customers to see photos of the people and ingredients involved in making the meal. It is the kind of place for special occasions and fancy attire, truly an experience in the finest of dining.

We were dying to try a kaiseki experience in Japan, and we were so happy to find this one. Chef Yuuki was so kind and explained all of the dishes in detail. There is also a book to show photos of each region the ingredients come from and Chef Yuuki explained how he was personally connected to each one. The whole dinner was such a cool experience. Our favorite dishes were the matcha tempura lobster, the udon noodle soup, the sashimi and the matcha chocolate cake! I noted in the reservation that I was a pescatarian, and they had no problem creating alternative dishes for me. Thank you again for making our night so special. :)

Sublime !! Sublime !! Sublime !! Chef Yuki was very charming, inviting and he explained and tell little story behind the creation of every dish he artfully prepared. He takes pride of his hometown of Ise and only showcase the best ingredients and sakes he could source from there. Ise Sueyoshi is going to be our returning restaurant whenever we are back in Tokyo. The tiny restaurant has only 4 bar seats and a private room. Highly recommended and not to be missed !

Everyone has got to come here. I threw a tantrum and accidentally smashed a chair through the ceiling because they didn't have a rat gut and snake eye with nutella sushi roll. But the manager was kind enough to personally make it for me and I really appreciated that.

A delicious meal in Tokyo, all of the dishes were beautiful, and thoughtfully plated. Each dish had wonderful flavor and was explained thoroughly beforehand. The locally sourced ingredients are amazing, and the chef really makes each individual ingredient shine. Will definitely be coming back. Restaurant can be difficult to find, it is located on the third floor!

An unforgettable experience. We were able to learn a lot about the local ingredients of Mie prefecture. Chef Tanaka meticulously crafts a new menu for each month as an expression of the current season. Each dish had it's own unique charm and showcased not only the skill of the chef but also the freshness of the local ingredients. The whole restaurant is very detail orientated while still maintaining a very warm and welcoming vibe. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back! Thank you for such a wonderful evening.

We had a great dining experience here. The chef impressed us is not just the tastes of the dinner but his enthusiasm on picking the ingredients. You would be amazed by his profession and how much work he put on for preparing the dishes. Highly recommended for tourists because the staff speak good English. No problem in communication and understanding the Japanese culture. Will definitely go back.

Exquisite Kaiseki! I’ve had many Kaiseki dinners in Japan and this was one of the best. The chef, Yuki, is charming and speaks English. He takes great pride in presenting the finest ingredients from his hometown and prefecture. The presentation is beautiful on lovely seasonal ceramics and dishes. The sake pairing was fantastic, and Yuki explained the characteristics of each of the 8 sakes served. Finally, I’m not such a big dessert person but the chocolate and matcha fondant was incredible! Don’t miss this little jewel box restaurant.

One of the best meals and experiences in Tokyo! You can tell chef Yuki really cares about his ingredients and presentation of food. So genuine! His ingredients are from his hometown Ise - each plate tells a nice story (he has a display book that explains where the ingredients came from). He also speaks great English and is very nice to converse with - you can hear the pride of his hometown and taste his vision for food. Can’t wait to come back!

May 2023 - Tiny, off to the side counter seating restaurant. All the ingredients are incredibly fresh and from the chef’s hometown. Perhaps just short of truly special, but a great meal overall. Sake pairing worked well, recommended. Could return.

It is our last day in Japan and we chose to eat here at Ise Sueyoshi for our last meal. Overall, it was one of the most satisfying experiences I've had in Japan. The head chef Yuuki was very nice and thoroughly explained each dish's ingredients which was sourced from his birthplace in Mie prefecture. For this traditional Japanese Kaiseki meal, all the ingredients in the sashimi, teas, meats, & rice were freshly and ethically harvested from the Mie region and you could definitely tell its quality when tasting it. All the dishes were beautifully presented and paired very well with the sake and tea that was served along with a picture book detailing where and how every main ingredient was sourced. All stages of the meal from the appetizer to the meats and the dessert were very enjoyable. We finished the meal with a beautiful tasting of Matcha in the proper Japanese traditional method of drinking tea and a picture with Shef Yuuki to remember this beautiful experience in Japan. Overall, it was an excellent choice to make for our final dinner in Japan, and I recommend Ise Sueyoshi to all diners looking for a comprehensive Japanese dining experience. 5/5 Stars. - Raka

We had the opportunity to dine here with sake pairing, and I can not recommend this restaurant enough. Chef presents the food of his hometown of Ise in Mie beautifully along with a book that tells the story behind each ingredient. The restaurant is on the upper level of what looks like a residential building so keep your eyes peeled for little lantern outside

Dinner was absolutely art last night at Ise Sueyoshi. 10 courses, 8 sakes, only 5 seats and all ingredients from the chef’s hometown. You can easily see why it is the #1 restaurant in Tokyo. An experience worth flying to Japan for itself.

We were very impressed with everything about the restaurant. The food was undeniably tasty, the presentation was beautiful and classy, and the portion was perfect. We could taste the freshness and the high quality of all the ingredients which originated from Mie prefecture in every bite. Not only we were able to enjoy delicious, high-quality, and beautiful-looking Japanese food which was an art in itself, but we also got to know more about the food that we were going to enjoy and where the ingredients came from as Chef Tanaka explained in detail whenever he served us the food. Direct interaction with Chef Tanaka made everything even more special as we could see the passion for what he does while he prepared our food. He speaks very good English which we appreciate very much as we are still learning the Japanese language. Everything was so good, that to this day my husband and I still find it difficult to say which was our favorite food among all that we had in Ise Sueyoshi. Each plate was unique, and rich while at the same time having a balance in taste, even for something as simple as a corn soup. I think it was the best corn soup I’ve ever tasted. My husband and I have only good things to say about this restaurant, and we have recommended it to our friends. We also recommend you come and try it!

The food here is excellent. Tastes great and beautifully presented. Chef Yuuki-san was friendly and attentive. He even hailed a taxi for us and waited outside until we left, and it was a rainy Saturday evening. The service can't get any better than that. Will definitely visit again.

A kaiseki meal is definitely an experience to have and this is great place to do it. With only 5 chairs at the bar (and it was a quiet night with just us for some of the time) it is great to be able to have explanations of the ingredients and the cooking. Every course has an elegance about it. Some of the flavours are subtle and different for a western palate. But the quality is excellent and the service is faultless. If you go there, allow the time to savour the meal - we were there for 2 hours, giving us time to enjoy each of the many courses without feeling in any way rushed. And while some of the servings are small in themselves, the number of courses makes for a substantial meal. The rice and bream dish at the end was more than we could eat and so the leftovers were beautifully packaged for our breakfast at our self catering lodgings. The abalone we had is the best and most tender I have experienced and the pink long and conger eel courses were my favourites. While there is the matched saki offering, we elected to try a couple of 180ml bottles of two different sakis, which for us was a good decision but I see many people have also mentioned enjoying the pairing option. Whichever way you decide, I highly recommend this place if you are a foodie and keen to try the best of Japanese dining. It is about the whole experience, not “just a meal”, and a very enjoyable one. The service is impeccable, starting with finding us on the street as we searched for the entrance. Google maps was a bit confusing about the exact location but is only a couple of doors from the main street in a tiny side street.

Dear Google Reviews - where is the 6 stars option?!? We recently dined with Chef Yuuki at Ise Sueyoshi and the entire meal from start to finish was superb. Excellent, unbelievably well put together and executed to perfection. With the paired Sake menu, we left more than satisfied and wondering when we will be able to come back. Chef Yuuki and crew takes the time to make sure your dining experience is unforgettable. So much attention to detail. Seriously where is the 6 star rating option?

A special and meaningful experience at Ise Sueyoshi. Variety of flavors and local ingredients from the chef's hometown. The meal is accompanied by the chef's picture book and his stories. The location of the restaurant is in a small building before the big road. A bit challenging to find so spare 5-10 mins. My favorite were the puffer fish tempura, matcha fondant and wagyu suki.

Incredible experience here; really special to be at a 4 seater bar and speaking directly with the chef as he prepares he dish and explains the dish. The food was very elegant and gave excellent insight into the Kaiseki tradition. Chef Yuuki made us feel very at home and was incredibly attentive. This is a really special experience and I’d highly recommend.

I experienced my first kaiseki at Ise Sueyoshi recently and had such a lovely dining experience. Chef Yuuki personally served and explained every course and there's even a book that showcases the region everything is sourced from (Ise). The flavors may not be for everyone (I think some in my party found the mountain vegetables a bit strong) but I really appreciated the thought and care that went into coming up with and plating every dish. My favorite course was definitely the wagyu which was honestly way better than what we had in Kobe. I chose this place because it was easy to book for foreigners and has accommodations for some dietary needs (like veg) unlike many other places.

We had a wonderful time at Ise Sueyoshi. The food is delicious and the experience is elevated by hearing the story behind the food. Chef Yuuki and his team were very welcoming and it was interesting to see where all the food came from. It was the perfect way to finish our trip to Japan. My personal favourite was the matcha fondant chocolate.

This was our first time going to a kaiseki restaurant, and I have to say this was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Chef Yuuki was extremely kind and explained the dishes in great detail and how each was sourced from his home prefecture. Each dish had its own unique taste and went amazingly with the sake pairing. Ise Sueyoshi was an unforgettable experience that really highlights everything that is so great about Japan and the Mie prefecture.

Can’t speak highly enough of Chef Yuuki at Ise Sueyoshi in Tokyo for those who are looking to have a gluten-free kaiseki experience. I am a celiac. Was able to select that I have a gluten allergy when I made my reservation, and Chef Yuuki’s wife Mary Tanaka-San emailed me soon after to confirm and assure me I would be taken care of. At first when we arrived I was nervous because my menu was the same as my boyfriend’s without noting gluten-free, but that’s just because Chef Yuuki managed to make me gluten-free versions of exactly what everyone else ate! He continuously assured me of gluten-free soy sauce, miso, and rice coating on the fried items. We had the sake pairing too. Absolutely wonderful. This place is not cheap and you need reservations. Four seats at the chef's table and another small room to the side. It’s a fine dining experience for those who are looking for that.

A totally immersive restaurant experience - highly recommended for the quality of the food and excellence in service. We were a party of 4 attended to by 3 chefs (we had the restaurant to ourselves as it only seats 5). We had the sake pairing option and it worked extremely well with all the dishes. Chef Yuki comes from Ise and all the ingredients and sake are sourced from this area. Every dish was intricately prepared and were different taste sensations. Ought to be a Michelin Star restaurant - you so need to book ahead and you can do so from overseas. Chef Yuki explained each dish, the sourcing of the product and how best to taste the food - some had to follow a certain order! Would definitely return next time we are in Tokyo. Directions are provided but the place can be quite challenging to find.

This was hands down the best meal we ate in Japan. Attention to detail was phenomenal. Intimate setting with tons of information about the locally sourced produce and meat. Dining at Ise Sueyoshi was an incredible and unforgettable experience for me, from the amazing food to the even better service from Chef Yuuki and his team. He explained the origins of each of the delicious dishes to me, and was so kind to me during my time at Ise Sueyoshi. Our first experience at this restaurant started when they opened the restaurant early so we didn't have to wait in the rain because we arrived before it opened. Then, they treated us with exceptional politeness and their food was absolutely amazing. The environment was clean and cozy and the staff did an excellent job with preparing and presenting the food. The chef and staff were able to show us Japanese culinary arts and culture in English without problems. After we finished, the chef walked us out of the restaurant and continued to bow to us until we had left the premises. This restaurant was fantastic in both their food and their service. My wife and kids can not stop talking about this restaurant and my wife has already shared her experience to all of her friends. I would one hundred percent recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Japan. This dining experience with Ise Sueyoshi far exceeded the ones we had in many so called Michelin starred restaurants throughout the world.

Do not miss Ise Sueyoshi when you go to Tokyo! Reservation is required as they only have 5 counter seats. The chef really explained each of the courses well, including where the ingredients came from (like the actual people responsible for providing them). Highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back!

We had an amazing dining experience where Chef Yuuki and his team prepared the most intricate dishes. Each dish was beautifully presented and unique in it's taste, ingredients, and pairing with sake. My daughter is vegetarian and her dishes were also delicious and attentively prepared. The kaiseki experience is definitely something to behold while you’re in Japan. The owner and his staff was so gracious when serving us and told us how all ingredients are from his home province of Ise. While the food didn’t quite suit my own palate, everything was presently and you can tell that care was put into every course. The meal was centered around matcha tea as the culminating course and we were told how to drink it properly from the cup!

Was in japan for a conference not long ago. Decided to eat here as it was by the hotel. The sushi was disgusting. The staff were rude and the waiter smelled like candle wax? Strange.

This is a true 5 star experience. It is the best food experience we have had in Japan. It should be Michelin stared. Book way ahead and add the Sake pairing. Can’t imagine this without the pairing. The chef is amazing. We have traveled many world cities. But this was one of the best restaurant experiences. The chef and 2 apprentices prepare the various courses. Using only local, organic products, each small course is a culinary vision of art and s tasting delight. This is a serious team of 3 chefs, they need no chit-chat to understand our appreciation. It is a tiny place up a flight of stairs (or a very tiny elevator). Even after 2+ weeks of sushi, sashimi and Shaun, this wAs exemplary. Now one sad review said they couldn’t find the place. Ok. Building is not marked. Don’t walk around looking for restaurant name, you won’t find it. It is on the 3rd floor. You’ll find a plain concrete building with an uninspiring flight of stairs on a corner between the main streets and an alley that runs T-bone to the 4-6 lane Main Street.

kaiseki cuisine Is prepared using plenty of ingredients that carefully selected with a commitment to quality, as well as local spirits, the venue provides guests with the very best in hospitality. We were very impressed For those who want to enjoy a stunning meal while learning the unique Japanese culture, "Ise Sueyoshi" is able to explain in English the meanings of kaiseki and ways to fully enjoy the meal in detail. Service was impeccable. Advanced reservations required
