We were really craving some good South Indian food and Sapthagiri managed to satisfy those cravings! I ordered the south Indian thali and my husband tried the special Dosa thali, through which he ordered a rava ghee masala Dosa and idli. Both were very tasty and the quantities were more than sufficient! The thali had amazing variety and reminded me of the yummy food in the restaurants back home. Service was mostly good, we had to remind them to get us the idli. Restrooms are clean. Definitely visiting this place again!! Edit: Tried their breakfast buffet today and it had so many varieties.. idli, vada, dosa (fresh to order), upma, puri, chutneys, sambhar, jalebi and tea. Everything tasted good!

They have decent amount of parking space. There are many Indian restaurants within the vicinity but we chose this & so glad we did. Tasted Chole Bathure, Pav Bhaji, Chilli Chat, Veg Cutlet, Kaaram Dosa, Samosa Chat. Best of all - Pav Bhaji! & Chilli Chaat. The other items were decently tasty as well. Veg cutlet was not up to the mark though.

One of the best Paneer Biryanis I've ever had! Great place for South Indian food. The price is reasonable! The portions are sufficient. I'm sure you'd be satisfied by the end of your meal. I recommend you try the Biryani, even the uthapams and Chole bhaturas are great!

Stopped here for the first time and it reminded me of those pure vegetarian restaurants in India. They had buffet for dinner on Wednesday and had a variety of food (pani puri, dosa, uttappam, pakodi, pav bhaji, chana chaat, idli, veg biryani, samosa). Everything was very delicious and they serve Poland Spring water in the bottles. They have parking in the near and high chairs available for kids. The staff was really good and the ambience was soothing. Coming back here again soon.

It's a hidden gem for PURE VEGETARIAN and who really likes the real taste. Ambience - 10/10 Service - 10/10 Taste - 10/10 The food taste is AUTHENTIC. MUST TRY Dosa and Meals There are some buffet options too...have to try them The Master Sabari is a real passionate chef there who directly comes to the table and requests for the feedback...

Indian cuisine is extremely diverse and very regional just like Italian, Mexican or for that matter any other region. This has always been a great Vegetarian place ( not entirely Vegan - many dishes are Vegan though) especially for dishes from Southern India. Good food in a good place. Their breakfast buffet is back and as always they are good and food for the heart. One can never have too much sheera here 😍

What a great restaurant pesarattu and upma with ghee with 4 chutneys and Sambar. Taste is best in USA.I highly recommend to everyone try their pesarattu upma! Excellent and authentic South Indian taste

This place doesn’t take dietary restriction seriously. Tried their buffet, and requested the server the prepare a dosa without onion, garlic. Despite the instruction, the chef repeatedly prepared Dosa with onions and served (~3 times) Being someone who follows strict restriction, the manager / server / chef didn’t make efforts to improve the quality and weren’t really apologetic for the mistake.

Anybody lookIng for a vegetarian South and North Indian Restaurant? Then look no further! Sapthagiri is the place to go! The food was delicious! It’s a casual clean restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful. They have wonderful deals for any meal. It’s easy to get to from the Journal Square PATH station about 5-7 block walk. I highly recommend this place for authentic Indian food. So close from NYC. It’s a quick trip from the WTC PATH station

Four stars for the food!!.. probably among top 5 in Jersey city. However, I would give three in the service. It took a long time for the food to come and other staff services were okay. Maybe a bad day for staff, I would definitely suggest this place for Indian food.

Yepiieee!! Finally found a restaurant that satisfies my Dosa cravings at a competitive price. We ordered samosa chat, Medu Vada, Banglore Masala Dosa, and Onion Chilly Rava Masala Dosa. Although I didn't like their Medu vada, but both the dosas were crisp and delicious in taste. They give three chutneys complimentary which were very flavorful. I finished my lunch with filtered coffee. The good sitting area and the staff were also very accommodative and helpful. I will definitely visit this restaurant again to try their other dishes.

Ordered a paneer tikka masala, the curry comes with rice and I ordered an extra Tandoori roti. Food was really average, below par I’d say, the curry was sweet inspite of telling them spicy, the service was really mediocre. Reasonably priced. Definitely worth a skip.

We catered a 50 people event with Sapthagiri and had an excellent experience with the food, set up and overall service. The chef and helper showed up on time, carried all the equipment needed including tables, linen and serving dishes. They were very friendly and did an amazing job with the live dosa and chaat station. Highly recommend them for your next event!

Dosas are really good here. Pav bhaji dosa is our favorite of all. Although, they promote 2 different restaurants Sapthagiri (Pure Veg) and Vaibhav(Veg and Non-Veg) but they share the same kitchen, so not sure if Sapthagiri can really be considered as 100% vegetarian restaurant.

FOOD - 4/5 Been here way too many times. Breakfast buffet and Chat night(Wednesdays) is consistent and nice. The North Indian & Indo-Chinese cuisine food is decent in taste, not the best I've had. Very good South Indian food. On one of our visits, we ordered: SOUTH INDIAN THALI - Everything Unlimited, very nice, great in Taste. BAGARA BAINGAN was the best, Sambhar was okay, rest all very good. ALOO PARATHA - Good in taste SCHEZWAN VEGETABLE FRIED RICE - Disappointed, no or very less Schezwan flavor PANEER TIKKA Sizzler - Was okay PANEER TIKKA MASALA - Was Good. Can be better. Other Visits: BREAKFAST BUFFET (8 AM - 11AM): Very nice, mostly super fresh, their UPMA is the best. PS: 20% Gratuity for group of 5 or more. AMBIENCE - 3/5 SERVICE - 4/5 The service is good. It always has been. They are mostly packed during peak hours, so it does take some time to get attended to, but you always get what you want. They have two separate space, the one outside is Sapthagiri - Pure Vegetarian, the one inside is Vaibhav - Non Veg and BYOB. The non veg food is decent in taste, not the best I've had. Overall, it is a very good restaurant with enough dine-in space and also has a small parking lot.

The best Indian food I’ve ever had: bagara baingan, palak paneer, coconut uttapam. Even as they’ve been working out of another restaurant’s facility during the pandemic, Sapthas food destroys anything I’ve had in Curry Hill NYC.

Great food, great place, great vibes. They divide the restaurant between meat or vegetarian which was interesting. I tried their Vindaloo and it was the spiciest thing i’ve ever eaten. Enjoy the food but think twice on the spice level because they’re serious

After a tiring round trip from nyc, I craved some good Indian food. Sapthagiri was close to Jersey city and we ordered thali and biryani on their site. Chownow is their default redirect. Thali comes with - Rice-rasam-samvat-sabzi-raita-dal-korma-papad-Chapathi-pickle-kesar halwa Though it sounds appetizing, the food wasn’t. Sabzi, dal, korma was just meh. For curd rice, I was given raita that has carrots, onion. Biryani is literally vegetable puloa. It was not even close to biryani. Salan that came with biryani(puloa) was sweet and did not complement. Do I recommend this place? NO. It’s $18 for a not so good thali.

We just moved to the neighborhood and have been going to Saptagiri regularly. We love its food, friendly staff and very spacious and clean space. We have tried south and north Indian thalis, vegan thali, dosa and also the chat/dosa buffet on Wednesdays. We loved them all. The food is authentic like home cooked and not too oily. Keep it up, Saptagiri!

  • 2/5 Deepti K. 1 year ago on Google
The breakfast buffet was tasteless. The chutneys were disappointing!! The only tasty thing was sambar and tea. You have to pay extra for coffee.

  • 5/5 Rohit S. 1 year ago on Google
The food is good and the Dosa and Chat buffet on Wednesday along with the breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday is awesome. Must try for sure. Also, this is the only ( at least to my knowledge) restaurant with Thali being unlimited portions. I tried the South Indian Thali. It was worth the money. They have a wonderful staff who are attentive and pay attention to the customer needs.

Their staff is so Rude and act like they dont hear you. You have to call them multiple times and remind on your order. Go there only if you are OK to wait for 45 mins for one Dosa.

  • 3/5 Ram C. 2 years ago on Google
Overall underwhelming experience.. Sambar is quite mediocre (minimal vegetables, tastes watery). Chutney has no popu.

  • 1/5 Ketu S. 2 years ago on Google
Above average food. Rude staff. Very insensitive about personal information and their handling of credit cards. The level of service is among the worst. They don’t believe in providing water. Either stay thirsty or be forced to buy water from them. In their defense, they do provide about 50ml or so water. Don’t even try to call them, or they’ll hang up rudely saying they’re too busy to address your concern (even when it’s about your card details being compromised there).

First time visiting. All veggie/vegan options so definitely no cross contamination with any meats stuff. Had the veggie spring roll, malai kofta, veggie briyani and gobi 65. Very clean, bright and cute atmosphere.

  • 5/5 Lee Baron Bespoke Custom T. 10 months ago on Google
We love the food. Excellent , fresh. The service can also be good, depends on who you have. The girls who serve are very sweet, the men are more absent minded and forget everything. The place is very comfortable and we LOVE that they have parking. Only I wish they would keep one TV on at a reasonable volume and not have 2 concurrent programs on loud volumes. Also the incense used is very very strong and it is very hard to breathe. Overall though this is one of THE BEST places in the journal square area. We keep coming back and the service has really improved. But the heavy dhoop really fills the restaurant with smoke. Please use a lighter one 🙏.

A lot of gluten-free and veggie items. It’s our go-to. Top items are: thali and palak paneer- always with their lemon rice. After moving from Murray Hill to Jersey City, I have high standards and this place fits the bill.

  • 5/5 Erik A. 4 years ago on Google
The best thing about this place is how they treat you like family. Everyone is friendly and sometimes they can be familiar, or honest. If you're not used to hospitality like that it could be off-putting, esp for some Americans. But I love it.

My favorite Indian restaurant in Jersey City (better than any in New York City too)! Authentic South Indian food. I usually get the South Indian thali ??

  • 3/5 Rajendra U. 4 years ago on Google
Their breakfast buffet on the weekend is just OK. The taste is just regular, nothing extraordinary, but service is nice and the staff is friendly. On a regular menu, dosas are good but again nothing out of ordinary; their medu vada is actually one of the worst I have had. Overall, it is a good place but not great, and there are not many South Indian veg restaurants in Jersey city, so they do not have much competition!

  • 3/5 Nina N. 5 years ago on Google
Dahi vada could have been better, the same goes for dahi puri. However, this place has very interesting malai kofta in south Indian style It felt that the person who was waiting our table wanted us to finish quicker because she was constantly coming and asking about the next step

Attitude is something we as customers take it for granted. When it is served right, we don’t realize and only when a business shows its other side to us, we realize it actually exists. It was almost before close of business hours, we placed an order through Grubhub and called Sapthagiri to confirm if they will be able to fulfill the the order and they confirmed they would. We started waiting from 9.45 till 10.25 without a complaint. Then we started doing the waiting game and calling them multiple times, that the driver hadn’t arrived. It was not until 11.10 that the driver finally showed up. We ordered the North Indian Thali and to our complete disappointment most of the rice had spilled inside the paper bag, due to a broken styrofoam box. We called the restaurant to complain and instead of apologizing, the first thing he said was ‘Let me talk to the driver and get back’. He called back and said that the driver told him there was no rice spilled in the car. He clearly didn’t care that there was an unsatisfied customer on the other side, but have his hands clean. We indicated him that there’s difference between rice spilled inside the bag and outside of it and there was no necessity for him to validate with the Grubhub driver about a starving customer, at wee hours. We had to send him the picture on how supremely the food was packed and sent and how it ruined a dinner at 11 in the night. It’s more than 2 weeks and we are still waiting for Sapthagiri to get back to us, after their ‘We’ll check and get back to you on this’. Good luck with your astounding customer service!
