The food here is the worst. The sweet corn soup tasted like sweet pongal (don’t know whose choice is to put jaggery in soup, but wrong call). Chilli paneer was literally 200 ml of oil with paneer. The garlic naan so hard that you couldn’t even tear it into pieces. The veg kolhapuri was bland. “Chef’s special” chicken biryani is the blandest hyderabadi biryani I’ve ever had (and trust me, I’ve had some of the blandest pretending to be hyderabadi biryanis but this one takes the cup). The service was fine, but whoever the master. chef is, needs to be fired otherwise these are the last years for Golconda Chimney. This is our table at the end of the meal.

Have been to this restaurant multiple times. They serve delicious Hyderabadi food. Love their paneer tikka. We went just before the closing time and didn’t like the irani chai much.

Food Taste is good. They have both vegetarian and Non-vegetarian items in their buffet. We had Lunch Buffet today, we are vegetarian, there is missing vegetarian biryani which is what usually vegetarians look for compulsory. Only white rice is served, Butter Naan were good, how ever there is only curry that will go good with it in their buffet which is palak paneer. They kept chanamasala, but it goes good with poori or Bhature. My friend had good buffet since she is Non-vegetarian, she Get to eat chicken biryani out of their buffet items along with other Non-vegetarian items. Lack of salad, i.e onions that usually we INDIANS prefer to eat with Naan, we did ask the person who works there. He brought upon request. Good service, food tastes good. My only suggestion is, to add vegetarian biryani to Lunch buffet, and an Egg item. $20 paid for buffet, over all its 👍

Me and my friend was very much flavoured to have a drink and I asked the owner to suggest me something special drink so he suggested me to try mango lassi and badam milk. It was very delicious 🤤. I liked it very much so we thought to try other scrumptious dishes too and we ordered chicken chargha I felt like this is what we are craving for. It was so tasty and mouthwatering. A must try recepi in Golconda Chimney. Iam attaching a photo of it .

Golconda Chimney was at the right place at the right time. I was going to one of my usual places but they were closed on a Monday afternoon… when I turned around I saw it; a street sign with a delicious looking thali special. This is just what I wanted - what I needed after a stressful day. I went in and the young man and lady at the reception desk were gracious and soft spoken. I asked for a table for 1 and for the lunch special right off the bat. I was seated and the young lady asked if I wanted a mango lassi, which I did, because who doesn’t, right? The meal came out quickly and it was everything I wanted it to be. The different flavors were marked about subtle and every tiny serving dish complimented the other by enhancing the flavors or diffusing the spiciness of some. Great place to eat because of the food, the staff, and the atmospheric music. I loved this meal.

We ordered biryani, thali, tandoori fish. Thali is a limited thali and was ok 7/10. Chicken 65 appetizer (semi-dry) was good 8/10. Tandoori fish was the best I ever had in Jersey city 9/10. Goat biryani was decent enough to have 7.5/10. Chai is good as well.

Loved everything about their lunch thalis. Our sever is super sweet. We got both veggie and non veggie options. Delicious, huge portions that we had to pack some to go, it was freshly made and we were told it’s different everyday. Definitely going back 🤩

Food is good, but is totally outweighed by the absolute worse service I have ever seen. Ordered from here several times, driving from Manhattan to get this food. It is NEVER ready you’re always waiting an additional 30 minutes once you get there to pickup. So ordering food from here I can mark off two and half hours of my day. Which is insane, the whole point of ordering ahead!! Basically it seems they aren’t preparing until you arrive. The staff is unapologetic and rude. The management needs to do better for their customers.

Went here for the buffet recently. Positive: The mutton curry with naan was amazing! Pretty much had this alone when I was there. Negatives: Was very disappointed with the cold chicken biriyani. It was obvious that it was a reheated biriyani served in the buffet. At the very least heat it properly. Also they need to refill the dishes promptly. A couple of non veg dishes had no meat pieces left. $21 including tax is a hefty price for the options available.

One liner, its below the average and disagree with the reviews here who have given more than 2.5/3. Food - 3/5 Service - 3/5 Price - 2/5 Ambiance - 3/5 Never expected a below average food here, I had once before which was avg and expected this time to be better. But no improvement with further degraded taste. Chicken tandoor is a wet version, not dried as usual. How ever the size courses were ok, but rice was horrible. How can u make biryani from regular rice instead of basmati rice. Even the lemon rice and steamed rice was smelling like if the rice is pretty old stock. Plus, the cost is too high considering the varieties and categories.

Can’t comment on the food as we never got the chance to eat. Service is the worst. This place used to be clean, hygienic and nice. Cant say the same anymore. It smells funky as soon as you enter. We had to wait so long for our order to be taken and even longer for the food to arrive. Unfortunately it was taking so long, we just had to leave. The one item that did come out as we were leaving had hair in it.

This is the fourth Indian restaurant we tried in Jersey City’s Little India and by far the best. The Chicken Chettinand is flavorful and the garlic naan is a must have. The lunch special Thali at $14.99 is a great way to try many dishes. Nice service and atmosphere. We are Indian food foodies who lived in Jackson Heights for some time and Golonda Chimney is among the best. Authentic and a great change from the typical butter chicken.

The food was really unbalanced. Like, the flavours were disproportionate. Biryani didn't make any sense to my palatte, it was a random mixture of a bunch of spices with no story to tell. We ordered for butter naan but received garlic naan. The naans were dry and crispy. The Malai Kofta was salty beyond comparison. I wonder if the cooks taste their food before it leaves the kitchen. I've heard bad reviews from friends but I had to confirm it myself. Cockroach is a cherry on top. I know I could've given the review in person but the owner kept asking us about one dish and nothing else. Maybe if he asked us about how everything was, I would've told him. But he wasn't looking for feedback on all the food. Just a mutton dish he wanted to add to the menu.

Lunch special was plentiful and delicious. We ordered a vegetarian and non vegetarian and shared a nice variety of dishes. The server was very nice too. We will definitely come back again. A little quiet music playing in the background would have been nice though to give the restaurant a nicer ambiance.

The place is good, clean and large. The good thing is that it is not a compact place. Taste is good. Good quality.

We went to the restaurant for buffet after long time but the taste and buffet menu options changed a lot which we didn’t like them except sweet… Non-Veg: 1 chicken starter (not hot and not cooked well), Chicken 65 (ok), Dhum chicken (Good), Chicken Biryani (bad), Paya soup (Good), Egg curry (Good) VEG: Palak Panner (Ok), Butter naan (not hot), Noodles (spicy, ok), Veg Biryani (Good), Brandi fry (salty)..!! We have waited for food long time once they finish..! I would request to the management if you put buffet, please manage the taste and quantity always in hand… so that we visit again and again

Had lunch at Golconda restaurant on 06/17/2022 along with my wife. Worst Indian food experience I ever had. Went there thinking it is South Indian restaurant looking the name. 2 people were dining when we went there. Nothing South Indian except beeing too spicy hot with peppers and awfully salty. Coming to food- Corn soup was very salty and tasteless. Samosas were burnt but ok. Hakka noodles were burnt smoky smelling. Dal Tadka was decent and edible, though spicy. Chicken with cashews was rubbery and tough and very salty. Fish was smelling very fishy and not fresh. Worst goat biryani I ever tasted. All it smelled was saffron and too toxic. Goat biryani meat is not goat and it is probably lamb and doubted it may be beef, but I can say for sure it is not goat. If anyone wants to try it , try at their own risk!! Bhindi masala had Okra which are very tough and fibrous and the owners made sure you will get a month worth of fiber in your stomach if you can dare to eat half a cup of this curry!! Plain fried rice is bad. Veg biryani is ok but too hot and salty. Saving grace is Gulab jamoon and Chai. Had 4 gulab jamoons and 3 small cups of chai. Service is terrible. No one took away the 4 plates we had on our table until we left. One gentleman gave us 2 bottles of water and disappeared. 2 guys came in opened all dishes and left...smart people! Overall terrible food, non existent service. I would recommend anyone to eat here if one is starving to death and want to survive and have no option left on this earth except the great Golconda Chimney restaurant in Newark Avenue, NJ.

Went to this restaurant for lunch yesterday. They had buffet, and four of us decided to try it. At about 12:30 pm on Sunday afternoon we were the only customers and then two other parties came in later. Should have taken a hint from there being no other customers at our arrival. The food had no taste; appeared to have been prepared long time ago; and was in the bowls on the table without any sneeze guards. All curries tasted the same and were totally tasteless, with no flavors or spices. Naan was like dried wood pieces, hard enough to break your teeth if you dared to chew on those. Only sweet dish was vermicelli with nuts which appeared to have been in the hot bowl for a long time, because it had a thick layering on the top, which tasted as if it was burnt. Service was awful. Being the only party of 4 for awhile, no one came to take our used plates, and we had to put those ourselves on one table next to us, although most of the tables were empty at that time. I wish I could call at least one item to be good, but I cannot, except salad and masala tea. Since the host at our arrival did not give us any menu and we did not see any posted prices, I asked the price of buffet and was told that it was $19.99, and with taxes will be about $21+. Their small soda can was $3.00 additional, which we declined. After failing to eat the lousy food, went to pay at the cash register, and the lady asked for $99.65 for 4 buffets, adding 18% service charge for nothing which could be classified as service at all. Very disappointed with the worst quality of tasteless food, no service at all, and for being charged 18% service charge for buffet. I don’t like to give negative reviews but I wanted to share my experience and observations on this restaurant to save others from possibly certain disappointment.

The restaurant adds 18% service charge for buffet! For a group of 4! We had the lunch buffet, where non-vegetarian food was pretty good, and vegetarian food was average. The employees were polite in general, and it was clean too. That said, we didn't expect the 18% surprise, especially considering there wasn't really much of a service in the buffet. When I enquired about that, the front desk employee told me that the manager has asked him to charge for any group of more than 3 people (generally happens for more than 6 or 8) to add the gratuity. 3 stars because of the deceit and not so great vegetarian food.

This place USED to serve delicious food. From our past two visits, one thing has been pretty consistent. FOOD TASTING BLAND and SALT levels - pretty high. We’ve ordered Indian-Chinese food items and appetizers, and all of them were just salty, and tasted bland. Disappointing experience with food. Service was prompt though.
