Really devastated to write this review. Food was good 4/5. The service could have been better and a little more attentive. The ambiance is great. We were there on Thursday night. Note, the owner is in the Jazz band and they walked around the restaurant asking for tips which I’ve never seen before. Of course our table tipped generously for the experience. However, we were literally followed out of the restaurant to the sidewalk by the waiter who then asked if the service was “okay” because the tip was “low.” We tipped 20% on the food, not the 2 bottles of wine we literally poured ourselves. Not to mention we already tipped the owner and his band. Quite shocked that the wait staff thinks it’s acceptable to chase patrons out to the sidewalk asking for a higher tip. Really disappointed. Train your staff to behave in a more professional manner.

I am writing this review as I was a big fan of the previous Madame Claude Bis and haven’t seen any good comparison reviews. The new Madame has a beautiful bar and has been decorated very modern and upscale. The drinks are good and the signature cocktails are fun. When we ordered wine there were issues because the lowest priced sparkling white and rose were both sold out, the next price was almost double the other bottles. Fortunately we were able to buy a bottle of wine that is sold by the glass but not having any mid-point wines is not acceptable for an establishment like this. As far as food goes it’s ok, but don’t expect to receive unlimited bread and homemade butter that old Madame used to have. We ordered dressed oysters and I had to spit one out because it was fishy which is understandable as the restaurant can’t control all oysters but it was disappointing. We also got the bone marrow, fried polenta and escargots. The bone marrow was good but beef dish that came with it was somewhat dry the bone marrow would have probably been fine without it. The escargots and polenta were good but I would have used more sauce on the polenta. For our main we split the duck confit it was ok, the sausage had alot of flavor but the confit itself was bland. Dessert was amazing as we got the profiteroles and the ice creams inside were delicious (would go back just for this dessert). Overall Madame lacks the homemade charm that the old owners brought to it. I don’t think they have live music anymore and the food was decent but nothing to write home about. If I was new to the area I think I would go back to eat here regularly but being someone who knows what was I’m afraid I’ll be day dreaming of the days of what Madame was and find my French food elsewhere.

SAFE Review Service: Was very good. Waitress was very attentive, always checking upon us, ensuring we were taken care of. The manager (probably also the owner) also interact personally with the customers. Ambience: The restaurant had outside seating at street level, but was itself located in the basement. It was very crowded and they have tried to maximize utilization of every space they had. We were provided a table just off the bar, next to the entrance door. The lighting was poor and the room dark. Food: was okay, ordinary. Nothing that made me smack my lips or made me want to go back and try. Presentation was good. Experience: was okay. Not enough of a wow factor to make me want to go back there again. It's a good place to hangout with family. Ensure you have reservations made for your table.

Nice environment and friendly staff. Service wasn't great during brunch and portions were really really small .I left hungry. A bit disappointing as dinner once was way better and tasty, with good portions and service. Wouldn't repeat for brunch for sure. But I would go again for dinner.

If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience in New Jersey, look no further than Madame. From the moment you walk in, you're transported to a world of elegance and sophistication. My first impression of Madame was simply "wow." Not only was the decor stunning, but I was also blown away by the attention to detail in everything from the place settings to the cocktails. Speaking of cocktails, let's talk about the "kiss in my drink." This was a unique and unexpected touch that really set the tone for the meal. It was clear from the start that Madame was not your average restaurant, but rather a place where every detail was carefully thought out to create a memorable experience. Moving on to the food, I have to say that the oysters were some of the best I've ever had. They were fresh, perfectly shucked, and served with a delicious mignonette sauce. Our mains were also outstanding - I particularly enjoyed the lobster which was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a flavorful butter. And despite already being quite full, we couldn't resist ordering four desserts for three people. Each one was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. Overall, I highly recommend Madame for anyone looking for a special night out. The attention to detail, quality of food, and exceptional service make it a standout in the New Jersey dining scene.

The ambiance of this little French restaurant is wonderful! Greeted by and sat by the owners, I felt welcomed right away. It IS very cozy, and you'll be sitting tightly close to other patrons, but I didn't mind. They had a few outdoor seating street-side, or in their dimly lit dining room. The menu has some wonderful French options and specials - a little something for everyone. I would say the prices are mid-range. The food itself was good and tasty, but the portions are somewhat small. The wait staff was also attentive and knowledgeable and we had frequent visits by the owner who was in the thick of the action, helping clear tables, talking about the specials, speaking with and interacting with guests. You could tell he truly loves what he does and the patrons certainly seem to react in kind. As we were leaving, the wife partner of the owner duo bid us farewell with sincere thanks for coming. I will tell you that just the experience I had with the owners and their kindness and love for the industry would keep me coming back to Madame Claude Bis. Truly a class act! Thank you for having us!!

The new Madame is outstanding! Service was incredible (our server Amanda was perfection), the cocktails were delicious, and the environment is warm and welcoming. The food was ridiculously good-- the bone marrow, escargot, and profiteroles are a must try. They did such an amazing job making this restaurant modern and upscale. Definitely visit here!

Enchanté Madame Claude Bis. 5 stars for a delightful Easter Brunch. The entire staff was very nice and accommodating. The Madame came out herself to greet us and snap a photo. Half of our brunch party was late due to NY train issues but the MCB staff kindly sat the punctual half regardless and served us drinks while we waited (and took Yelp pics). The Escargot appy is a must try. The dish was délicieux. Bread dipping was addictive. After a couple mimosa rounds and snacking on the apps the main dishes arrived in perfect timing. It was like they were catering specifically towards us. We all enjoyed our meals. My Baked Egg Ratatouille était parfait, the sauce was savory, the veggies were soaked in flavor and baked with a slight crisp covered with a baked egg on top, yummz! If you haven't been here in awhile, they now have full bar!

Glad I found this spot. It's downstairs, and has a rustic raw brick decor. In a good way, the experience seemed simple and laid back. Much like the staff and their chill approach. However, the salmon dish I ordered was anything but simple. It had a great mixture of textures and flavors. It definitely seems like a lot when you look at it, but every fork-full is a culinary adventure. My wife loved her lavender cocktail and I had the house wine.

Super cute place! Food was delicious, our service was okay, could have been better. I asked our server for the wifi password and he said they don't give that information out although they had a network named "Madame Guest". Furthermore, I asked why they don't give it out, he said they simply don't. This left a sour taste in my month and was very annoying since the restaurant is located underground (like a basement) so normal connection dies. Besides that the place was cozy, food and cocktails were great. Lastly, what will make me return is Ralph, he was super funny and down to earth - loved his vibe.

My first time in the new Madams - love the ambiance, menu is interesting and tasty - fusion cuisine with French influences, great wine list and reasonably priced cocktails (which we didn’t try this time…). The service was phenomenal - attentive and concise. We will definitely be back!

To be honest, Madam is a total experience. Reminiscent of a 18th Century Hotel Particulier. With it's dimly lit chandeliers, votives on every table, beautiful and well stocked bar and the Marie Antoinette movie playing. All very cozy and intimate. The staff, my personal tour guide for food and beverage were all phenomenal. My tour guide Ms Isabella asked  questions to get a feel for my beverage profile and suggested I may want to start with the lovely Provence Fizz cocktail.  After I read the menu I knew I wanted everything. In the spirit of restraint and a general semse of, I ought to know better... I chose the respectable Duck L'Orange kale salad. Such a nice treat to have a delicious salad with delicate slices of perfectly cooked duck with sectioned orange slices. There were spicy carrots on the menu of course I had to try them. These carrots were epic. Tooth tender, mildly spicy with a drizzle of creme fraiche just for good measure. The presentation of the carrots was rustic and elegant, authentic bistro fare. I needed a light table wine to accompany my dishes. Once again Ms Isabella to the rescue, and I enjoyed a nice white blend. This evening there was an appetizer special of foie gras moose adorned with a pleasantly acidic herb topping served with garlic rubbed toast points. This was sooooo delicious after three bites of the creamy and  sublime appetizer, I realize this was the gateway to my lack of control. The next thing I knew the famed escargot dish miraculously appeared at my table. I was surprised but I didn't want to let on that I didn't remember ordering that. After 2 beverages, it was possible my memory was a bit shaky. One bite of the truly decadent escargot and I was off the rails completely. Next came the Dressed West coast and East coast oysters! Don't mind if I do! 🤣  The super plump succulent Westies and the slightly sweet Eastside oysters both were served with diced watermelon, chives and little citrus pearls aka finger lime. ...then- came- the dessert special. Cheesecake mousse with  a berry maceration, incredibly light and exquisite I cant, I just cant. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ Madame is certainly one of a kind and  true to form becoming an obsession.  "Nothing exceeds life like excess" As I walked out I met Chef Chris! I let him know this was a real experience. Oh and the fancy azz dressed oysters, yeah I'm here for it. ❤️

Wow, what a fabulous experience! I rarely experience a restaurant where they impress on every dish/ drink, but Madame clearly delivered. We started with some lovely cocktails, then split the bone marrow app. It was clear that they spared no effort in the creation of the dish. It was beautifully plated and I was especially impressed with the delicious and perfectly textured bread that came with the bone marrow. I ordered the short rib pasta (I almost never order pasta or short rib), but was blown away. The perfect chewiness of the pasta, the tenderness of the meat and the fabulous blend of sauce/ other additions, resulted in a wonderful experience! Others in the party got the steak and the gnocchi. Tried both and they were also done superbly. Excited to return again. Very very happy with the experience!

First time at Madame and had an amazing experience! Once you walk in you a greeted by the hostess and she was very sweet and welcoming. My friend and I weren't sure if we wanted to stay, but she provided us menus so we could look around and recommended some delicious food and drinks. The place has a very pleasant atmosphere and decor. The service was excellent and very attentive. The general manager came over to make sure everything was to our satisfaction while we were seated at the bar. The meal and drinks were excellent, and I can’t wait to come back to try different dishes.

This place is super chique! The service is top notch. They make sure you are very well taken care of. Let’s talk about how delicious & beautifully garnished the food is! The dish “Short Rib Pasta” and the special which was Scallops were super tasty and fresh. The drinks were made to perfection. The ambiance and decor is beautiful and interesting. Staff is super attentive and welcoming. This place is extra ordinary! Every single detail about the experience and the restaurant is spectacular!

This place is top notch. The dishes are absolutely amazing and service was great. Best bone marrow I’ve ever had. The ribeye was better than I’ve had at steakhouses. If you’re going to go oysters, go for the dressed up one.. amazing. Gnocchi with ricotta was my favorite. Everyone at the table was ranting and raving about their cocktails as well. Madame crushed it…

Madame had a great aesthetic with classy but not intimidating vibes. The food was unbelievable, Chef Cedric is a true master of his craft and artist. Each dish was obviously well thought out and executed with complex flavors that come together to create very unique executions of classic dishes. Jersey City is full of great restaurants, but the team behind Madame brings passion and expertise to food that is hard to come by.

Authentic French cuisine. Lovely rustic Mediterranean decor with a lively warm atmosphere. The Mussels are spectacular and the french fries. Yes french fries with Dijon mustard both is amazing. Lamb shank cooked to perfection and the wine list is well paired and reasonably. Bar is well stocked with many bar stools to drink or eat. A must for french cuisine in Jersey City

Cassoulet was phenomenal, the broth was divine. This is truly a French gem discovered many years ago. I will always make the trip from NYC for it.

Madame Claude was excellent tonight - our first and certainly not our last time here. I love the vibe of this place. Come here before your concert at White Eagle Hall -- it's just around the corner. Highly recommend the french onion soup (a number of people had it at the bar), duck paté dish and the duck confit. Service was good and the cocktails are strong! Will need to come back on a live music night and/or for brunch.

This has became my favorite spot instantly! The atmosphere is amazing, and our waiter recommended the most delicious dishes, the drinks are delicious music from a live band and they are so courteous what more could you ask for I will be returning !

Excellent authentic French food. Live band playing Parisian music to make it a truly wonderful experience. The escargot is a much try and if you like Mussels, I would recommend the curry mussels.

Came with a group of friends. Definitely try their rabbit and lamb. One of the best things I've tasted. Dessert could have been slightly better, the only thing we liked was the pear tart. Other than that, everything was good.

I meet friends in this nice place a lot! This is my favorite restaurant to grab a bite. I visit this place routinely. The meals are fantastic, the team is polite and the prices are good. I enjoy being in this restaurant for a decent lunch.

We had such a wonderful night at Madame Claude Bis! Cozy vibe. Everything we ordered was so delicious, and our waiter was spot on with his recommendations. I would absolutely recommend the mussels, duck confit, and lamb shank.

Stopped by there for a lunch on Sunday, all tables outside were taken, buy inside was not crowded. Lovely cozy interior. Food was good. Not the best mussels in my life, but hands up for goat cheese salad - delicious!

Beautiful location, AMAZING food, the Coq Au Vin was soft, tasty, juicy with onions and fat chunks of bacon, my mouth is watering just typing this. The strong taste of the salmon mixed with sweet grapes on top of crispy wild rice... I mean, the texture of that plate was an experience in itself. The butter with herbs they use for their escargots, out of this world, dip some fresh French bread in that butter and honestly, enjoy life.
