This is our second time here at the Opal. Both times were pleasant. Here are the pros and cons of this stay and take it for what it is. Service from the time you arrive at the parking is perfect. The front valet and check-in service is amazing. They are very nice and extremely accommodating. We arrived super early because we were there for a corporate conference. The front desk checked us in and let us know that we could leave our bags in a waiting room secured and then let us know they would work on getting us a room as soon as possible. Note room availability is supposed to be at 4 pm. The gentleman took our information and confirmed my cell phone number to notify us when the room was ready. Let us know about self-parking and the cost per day. Yes, parking is additional. But it is additional on the whole island, with only a few free parking spots, and trust me with the heat, walking, and probability of it not being available the parking is worth paying for us. We were then invited to enjoy the pool and other amenities on the premises. We had some things to accomplish for the company seminar so began to do those. 1.5 hrs later the room was ready! Now that is service. We were escorted to the room with our bags and made sure the room was to our liking. We had a double queen and poolside view with a balcony. Yes, it is very nice. The bad part is the muggy ac and carpet dust are pretty bad. It almost has a musty carpet smell to the whole building. Not unbearable but one of the cons. On these particular days, the hotel has two elevators and there was only one working so as you can imagine the next 3 days the wait was a little long each time. Luckily the concierge and guests are all fun and lively and kept small talk nice and we could laugh the wait and humidity heat away. The pool is always great although I would like to see it a bit more maintained for the purification of the water as there are many guest's taking advantage of the pool. The bar service poolside is nice nothing too special, everything is small disposable plastic cups and nothing to rave about but again service is very nice and towels are collected and distributed poolside. The conference rooms are very accommodating to the point where they gave the coordinators complete access in and out of the room with no worries in the world. The staff was bar none the best part of the opal and makes the stay well worth it.

We have our first trip scheduled for 9/26-9/30. Unfortunately hurricane Ian decided to pop up. Seeing as the Keys are still supposed to feel a lot of those effects, and are in a state of emergency. I wanted to reschedule NOT cancel but reschedule my vacation to December as I don't feel it safe to travel with my family into a tropical storm. Upon calling the hotel they refuse to move my reservation for me because there is not an evacuation. I am appalled at how this resort handles business and their customers concerns for their families safety. They were rude and anything but understanding. I called corporate for assistance and have been unable to reach anyone. I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau on this matter and will never stay at this resort nor recommend them. if you are planning to stay at this resort schedule with caution and really do your research before booking!

We stayed here last week and it was wonderful. Great location right at Mallory Square. Close to everything. Smiling, friendly faces at check-in. Maria, at concierge was very nice. Our room was very clean and the view over the marina was spectacular. Robes, complimentary slippers and waters in the room, and as many waters as we liked in the lobby. Lighted make-up mirror at the vanity was a nice feature too. There is an additional resort fee that covers lots of amenities for guests including pool, chilled towels, sunscreen, poolside refreshments, umbrellas and ponchos in case of rain, gym, coffee and orange juice. Parking is also separate at $30 per day. Use your room key to get in and out of the parking garage. A lovely relaxing stay.

I feel like I've been catfished? Currently staying here for our honeymoon and we paid about 2700 for 4 nights. This hotel is so old and run down it's unbelievable. The staff is has been nice, though. My husband had set up for a surprise to be in our room upon arrival (again, this is our honeymoon) and they dropped the ball. He called and asked about it and they said the forgot. My room is kind of gross. It looks beat up and the walls are damaged and dirty. The sheets were also stained. I live in an apartment complex in Colorado that has a pool that is 20x nicer than this one with waterfall features, cabanas, and a huge hot tub. I couldn't believe this pool area. DO NOT stay here. I literally feel like I'm at a super 8 motel. I would have paid about $500 total to stay here. Opal usually has super nice places, but I'm shocked to see this one. This is definitely more of a 2-star hotel. Old and run down and smells like mildew everywhere.

I searched for several weeks for JUST the right place to stay and room type as this was my first trip to Key West. I wanted it to be a good one so I decided to splurge a little to get exactly what I wanted. (Thinking this trip may be my only one here) I booked an oceanfront one bedroom suite. What I got was a Marina view suite, NOT oceanfront!!!! So they did the ole switch-a-rue on me! They did give me credit for the difference BUT it was not what I wanted. What happened to MY room? I wanted oceanfront for a reason!! This almost ruined my trip!! Anyway, the rooms are nice. I don't think they tell about the cruise ships that dock RIGHT IN FRONT OF THIS RESORT. It was cool to see them. Not so cool when they are there ALL DAY & are blocking your ocean view!!! I may be back to Key West one day but I will not be staying here again to have MY room changed at their discretion! If this had not happened I would have given a 5 star rating!!

From arrival to departure, The Opal was fabulous. The staff was friendly and the facility was clean and well kept. The location just off Mallory Square was great. The pool was fabulous and the waitress at the pool was great! She made a delicious rum and fruit smoothie. The rooms were nice and beds were comfortable, we had a third floor pool view room that did not disappoint! We will be back to stay here again soon!

Very impromptu reservation accommodation! Rooms were clean. Service was helpful. Attached restaurant was VERY good! Right on the water with tons of small shops that serve many of the cruise ship guests. Right beside a market and very near to the aquarium, shipwreck museum, and Little White House. Great place for families with large parking garage.

Paradise Found! I just loved this hotel and it’s location! Our trip was in October 2021…First time in Key West and I feel we made the best decision by staying here! We had a nice room that overlooked the pool area and we had partial view of the water and sunset as well. The location was amazing right on the water, Mallory square , the boat to sunset key leaves from there, boat excursion we did for snorkeling also left from there, the aquarium and many other attractions were just feet away. Duval street is also close and a great little swimming beach as well. We really enjoyed the pool here too but only used one night. Staff was great, hotel clean and they had a computer room and printer that came in handy for something we had to while there. This was such a cool place and experience, I would love to come back!!

Great place and food was delicious. Love the Salads. Here's a tip. The rails hit just the right spot that it obstructs your view a lot. The seats are so low and tables too high. Would be better if at least half the seating was counter height with arms on chairs - (not bar height either). Counter height is also good for older folks as it is easier to get in and out. Love the atmosphere - the staff is very friendly and helpful. Loved the guys playing the steel drums.

An incredible experience to stay here. The resort itself including the rooms, pool, and common areas are beautiful, luxurious, and comfortable (even without paying extra for an upgraded room). The location is unbeatable. The staff is accommodating and friendly. And the little extras like free water and seltzers, bath robes and slippers, and more go a long way. The best value. Can’t wait to stay here again.

My husband and I just stayed at the Opal resort for the weekend and we had a wonderful stay. When we checked in they upgraded our room and when we entered our room it was a beautiful spacious suite! The hotel provides all guests with free unlimited cold water bottles and drinks (which I have never seen at any hotel in the world) and free coffee and Orange Juice in the lobby in the morning. The pool area is tropical and beautiful - a real oasis. Lizards and beautiful iguanas hang out there too! The drinks and food are delicious. The staff even came around to the pool guests every so often and offered small samples of drinks or ice pops - another thing I have never seen before anywhere else!! The service is super friendly and respectful. The location is amazing it’s on the boardwalk and one minute walk from All of the bars and stores in the town. I definitely recommend this hotel and I would 1000% stay here and only here when I return in the future! I intend to look into other Opal hotel locations for other travels. Thank you!

This hotel is awesome. Easy check in we were checked in by the manager himself very efficient, smart and intelligent. He made us feel welcomed immediately ….easy parking or valet. I always choose valet. The staff is amazing. The rooms are clean and comfortable. you could not ask for a better location.

My hubby and I booked this trip for ourselves and my parents. The hotel is in the perfect location! It’s so close to everything. Duval Street is 2 blocks away and Mallory Square is right next to the hotel. Every single staff member we interacted with was amazing. The pool guy was phenomenal never stopped moving always eager to help. They not only give you pool towels, we got sun tan lotion. Cool towels that smelled amazing, grapes served to us and they even had little sunglasses cleaners kits. Make sure to watch the sunset from their pier or the upper deck it’s breathtaking. This hotel really does it right. Breakfast at Lattitudes (the little island restaurant) was phenomenal! The food was absolutely amazing and the ferry staff was absolutely amazing even helping with my mom who needs a little extra help on land at times. The captain of the ferry was first class all the way and a true pro with how she handled the boat.

This place would get 5 stars for location when the cruise ships are not in, but the good is really good. We haven't done the dinner menu much, but this is 3/4 mornings of our week for breakfast at the Bistro. Top 3 eggs Benedict on the island, easily, and the service is always over the top. We are talking just common courtesy and attention. It goes a long way. The silver dollar hash browns are crispy and just spicy enough. Dip them in the hollandaise and you could stop right there for a delicious breakfast. Prices are reasonable and they have coloring for the kids!

Seriously a perfect hotel in Key West. The location is spot on, walkable to everything but tucked away from the chaos. Cruise ships do dock out front, but don’t let that stop you from booking, they have to leave prior to sunset. We only had them docked 2/5 days we were there. The rooms are clean, air conditioning is cold, bed and linens are comfortable. Bottled water available 24/7. Nespresso machine and pods in room. Pool is on the smaller side, but we were always able to find a chair. No need to rush out in the morning for a spot. The service at the pool was unreal, they all need a raise, the pool tenant and bar tenders work their butts off! 100% would stay again next time.

Opal Key was a beautiful resort, centrally located on the edge of the downtown area and on the waters edge by Mallory Square. From the moment we got there, the staff were all about making sure we had everything to make our stay wonderful. We ate at the restaurant and the coffee shop, both were excellent. The concierge got our tickets for the tours we went on. We definitely felt pampered and would love to go back for another vacation.

OUTSTANDING! From the second that we walked in, the manager (Alex) went out of his way to accommodate us. He is a stellar example of what a manager should be. Staff: Friendly and genuinely interested in providing top-notch service. Room: The room was clean and well appointed, with a fantastic view of Mallory Square. Location: Couldn't be much better. It is in one of the best areas in Key West, easy walking access to everything old town. Resturaunt: Small by good menu. Each of the meals we had were high quality and delicious. Take my word, this is one of, if not the best hotel in Key West. You will not find this type of service and accommodation at this price point anywhere in Key West. To the Opal staff: Thank you for all that you do!

A big group of friends and I went to this area after eating at a local restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised in all that it had to offer. There were vendors, performers, and musicians. This area is beautifully maintained and provides patrons with such a calm and beautiful experience. At one point, I noticed everyone standing on a small wall and wasn't sure why until someone pointed out that Sunset was upon us. My party and I waited for other people in the area as we were serenaded by a local musician and bared witness to a beautiful sunset. There were so many amazing sailboats in the water, which was crystal, clear blue. If you're in the area, I would absolutely recommend a visit. You won't be disappointed!

The resort is one of the best I’ve ever been. Beautiful view of sunset and ocean. Clean environment and thoughtful service. Their staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Andre and James at the reception. Our car was in trouble and Andre tried all he could to get us out of the situation. We truly appreciate his generous support and help.

I was in KW the first weekend of June and stayed here with a friend. It was absolutely amazing! The rooms were so fresh & clean, the location is super convenient, and the staff was even better. Andre especially went above and beyond for our stay and I can't thank him enough. I will definitely be staying here again my next trip down.

Great place to stay while visiting in Key West. Location is prime for parking your car in their covered garage and then so much is within walking distance. Mallory Square is literally right next door. Sloppy Joe's is just down the street, including Captain Tony's and Hog's Breath. Service was top notch. Rooms are clean. Food at restaurant is great. Staff was so very friendly. Look forward to my next stay

Spent 5 days here. Paid the higher price to have an oceanfront view though 2 or the 5 days a huge cruise ship docked right in front of our room and blocked the entire view. Parking was terrible. Completely separate from resort. Vacationers are travelling with a lot of luggage and no way to carry it all. No elevators in the parking garage to help transport luggage. Long walk to the rooms from parking garage. The room had no microwave. For the price of the room, there should of at least been a microwave. The beds were extremely hard, back was hurting by the 3rd night. Room service offered in room brochure yet called them 4 times with no answer. Called the front desk and was just told yes they are open. Ended up going to the restaurant that provided the room service and there were only 3 tables sat in the whole place so it's not like they were too busy to answer the phone. Servers standing around chit chatting. Good was amazing though, I suggest the Opal Mimosa. Online advertised jet ski rentals, boat rentals, etc. None of that was offered through the resort, all outside businesses. Would not stay again.

Excellent customer service and great communication from booking to check out. Supreen was able to check us in earlier than expected. She was super attentive and kind to our children. The rooms were nice and the location was absolutely perfect. Nice to cool off in the pool during the day and walk to everything in the evening. Will return 100%.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a 5-night stay at the lovely opal Key resort. It was our first time to both the hotel and the island. I don't usually gush, but we had a near perfect experience during our time there. From the views, the location, the friendly staff (and stocked water fridge), the pool, the location, the restaurant....everything was just perfect. We will 100% be booking again in the future. Now, so I don't look like a bot, I will leave one thing that I found goofy. The sliding door for the bathroom was 10% too small for the opening. It always left a crack on either side. Like I said, goofy. Anyway, go stay there.

This is only for Bistro 245 which is part of the resort complex. Out waiter was excellent, prompt and polite. He answered all of our questions and we had a wonderful sunset dinner. The food was very good. Reasonably priced (which I might add is highly unusual for the Mallory Square area) so there was great value. The wine list is a little limited but it was fine. I'd recommend this place to anyone (we sat outside) i assume the inside experience is the same as the outside. Thank you Alex T. for a superb experience.

I do not recommend to stay at this Hotel. Despite its good location and great restaurant, Opal Key Resort & Marina is very outdated and not well maintained. Rooms were clean which was nice at least. It is not at the level of other Opal Collection Hotels we stayed at. We were very disappointed and unfortunately, won't come back nor recommend it to anyone.

We loved it, more than we expected, definitely going again. Only issue we encountered was at checkin, we paid with a digital card and when we got there, they couldn’t use that and had to use the physical one. I was refunded approximately 4 days after. I basically was out of that amount for the entire trip. Otherwise, everything was fantastic.

Loved this place. Besides being walking distance to all bars, restaurants and shops, the service is incredible. Rooms brand new with everything you need for a romantic getaway. This has been one of my favorite hotels for a long time and this tine the rate synched with my wallet and I war able to stay there. Highly recommend.

We loved it here! Very attentive and friendly staff, rooms and pool area were immaculate. Beautiful views and a great location! The only thing to be aware of is the cruise ship that docks during the day and blocks some of the view....we were aware of this going in. Ship leaves between 4:30 - 5:00pm, so sunset and nighttime views are fantastic! Who spends the day in their room in KW anyways, right? We will definitely return!

We went on a family trip with 20 people total. The rooms were amazing. They were clean and spacious. The pool was delightful. We enjoyed the time we spent at the pool. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The poolside bar was amazing. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The only problem we encountered was at the Sunset bar. My husband was shortchanged. I was shortchanged when I bought the next round and likewise when my son purchased drinks. The correct change was given after we addressed the problem each time. We left after it happened the third time. This would not keep us from going back. Overall, it was a great trip. A beautiful location!

Nice resort. Close to Duval and everything else. Room a little dated. But spacious and balcony was nice. Pool was nice and food at the Bistro was good (blackened grouper). Hopped the Sunset Key boat to the Latitude restaurant which was right in front of my room/balcony. Easy access to Mallory square as well.
