The Equator resort is definitely a 5 star experience and not to be missed. Professional attentive staff. They have an array of choices of beautiful, clean and comfortably rooms. Our booking involved a room change mid week which they preformed flawlessly. The pool and hot tub area is oasis of relaxation and escape from the crowded streets while still providing a place to meet new friends. Hats off to the resort and staff for providing the escape We needed from our busy every day lives. I can't wait until or next visit.

Just visited the Equator Resort September 11-18 2022. My third time at this beautiful place. The staff as friendly as ever. Happy hour is a great time. I must mention Erik ,Guest Services. What a great addition to the resort staff. Erik is the most happy guy of the entire staff. He is sweet, charming and funny. And most of all very cute.

We visited Equator back in May and it was totally fabulous. Staff are always around but never intrusive. It is immaculate and the location is perfect. The free city loop bus stop is a block away. We had such a great time we are heading back August 4th. Room 13 is waiting for us. Fabulous Jr. suite. Plenty of space and perfect location on the property. Love that breakfast has different fresh pastries daily.

Well time to say good bye Equator. Staff is wonderful. This is for the owner. You have eliminated any stay specials also jacked a 3rd guest fee from 25 a nite to 75. Bar is limited. Hope since fire to be replaced but no guarantee. As stated staff very nice. But time to go elsewhere.

I stayed at this location last November and the bad taste left in my mouth has lingered until now when I thought I would write this review as catharsis. To start, the young Asian man who was at the front desk at check-in was extremely rude. I believe his name was Ray. He let me in when I pressed the door bell. He did not look up from what he was doing at the desk but threw a very loud and nasty “yes!!?” at me. I was too far away to talk without shouting, so I took a few more steps; but he then snapped another louder, inpatient “yes” at me without looking at me. I said, “I would like to check in.” He then said “oh, oh, I thought you wanted to ask if your friends were here.” I reiterated that I was here to check in. He then said, “well you didn’t have a back pack on, I didn’t know you were staying here. It’s unusual when people don’t have back packs.” I said “ no, I don’t have a back pack. I have luggage which is still in my car. And I also thought it was unusual that you did not say ‘hello, how can I help you today.’ In my room, it was advertised in a flyer on the bed, and I believe on their TV welcome system, that there was a free happy hour drink which specifically included a daquiri. I went to the bar, and the guy looked at me like I was crazy and said “we don’t serve that for happy hour.” Then I saw massage was advertised and called Ray again at the front desk. I told him I have all day today or tomorrow for one but he answered me quickly that there was nothing in my “time constraints.” Then there was the issue of cleanliness. There was a jacuzzi tub in the room which was just filthy with grime and concretions, and I believe the drain plug was missing. I took pictures which I though I could upload here, but apparently this site does not facilitate that function. The floor tiles in the bathroom floor all moved around as the grout was gone and there was mold in the shower. There was a large transom window in the main room above a door that used to open up to the street. There was no curtain on this window so that someone on the balcony across the street could look right down upon me while I was on bed with the lights on ! Thank goodness there was still a curtain rod which I used to hold up a bath towel to block on lookers as well as to block out the sun so it would not wake me. Then there was the noise. Finally, I’ve been to nude beaches and resorts before, but this environment was different. Most of the people were very haughty and non-approachable. It seemed that if you couldn’t brag about all the gay places you have been, and all the men you have done, that you were not worth inclusion. Oh, and it was difficult to get coffee replenished in the morning- you couldn’t tell who worked there and was was a guest to even figure out who to ask. I spent almost every minute of my 3 day stay out of the room seeing the island sights. I would never go back unless this place was demolished, rebuilt and then managed by completely new staff.

I have been going to Ecuador resort for more than 10 yrs at least twice a year and I always had a great time and the crew is very polite and professional. But not today …… I had a very bad experience trying to schedule my birthday get away. First phone call I was put on hold for almost 15 minutes and nobody picked up, 45 minutes later I called again and the same guy Kelvin answered the phone. This time he asked me “how can I help you?” I asked him if the room 27 A was available from 08/03 until 08/07 thinking about the room that I like near the pool, (the room that I really like is 29A near the pool and the bar) his response was you can book the room at our web side. I explained to him that the web site was not letting me book any room and I have a question about the room that I stay all the time, I was not sure about the room number. His reaction was we never have any problem with the booking on line and he carried on for almost 4 minutes about not having any problem with the web site. With his bad attitude and unprofessional matters he made me feel like I was disturbing and wasting his precious time. I asked about others rooms near the pool and he became very agitated , sarcastic and arrogant saying that all the rooms near the pool are the rooms in the 40’s and the 20’s rooms are not near the pool at all!!! Rooms 29 A and 29 B are 10 steps from the pool. I guess he does not even now all the rooms location in the resort. After telling me that he has about 15 rooms available for me to choose for, I decided to end the phone call. For who cleans toilets and makes bed this guy is very arrogant!!! ( I am not trying to diminish any body but this coming from another gay guy, from our community is not accepted!!! ). With all the rooms available I guess the owner/ management do not care about booking all this room in summertime . My 4 nights was supposed to cost me about $ 1.900,00. I guess they do not need my business but the other competitor down the street was happy to book my birthday get away. I was happy to deal with someone professional and educated even though my total was $ 2,300,00!!! I hope the owner will be watching closely what’s going on With his business once he lives full time in Philadelphia!!! Bad experience ever!

This was my 3rd visit. Quality of the experience seems doesn’t match the cost any longer.

Some of the rooms are a little “cozy” for two friends to share, but that’s to be expected when historic houses are adapted to lodging.

We loved our stay at the Equator! The bar was still under construction due to a recent fire, but that made a nice quiet environment for us to relax away from all of the nightlife in Key West. Great location--a couple of blocks from the Island House, the marinas, and other great hot spots! We will definitely be back!

It’s a beautiful hotel and the staff was outstanding unfortunately it must have been slow season there was no entertainment on the weekdays and your options for restaurants were limited in the evening. Otherwise I did enjoy my stay.

I just love this place. All the rooms are different and good size with either a queen or king size mattress, and good comfortable ones too. Private baths in every room. 24hr. Front desk staff that is very friendly.

It's about time I reviewed The Equator Resort....after my 3rd trip. My husband and I love this place. Theres so much to say so I'll try to make it as short as possible. On this last trip the resort itself was going through many upgrades. New paint, lighting, furniture. It's nice to see a place you love, keeping up with the small and big details. The room we always stay in looked like it had new paint, TV, sink, and bed, our last visit was only 6 months ago, so that's pretty great! We also saw other rooms being redon. The staff is wonderful from Anthony the Manager to the Bartenders, and room attendants. The resort is clean, easy to get around. It's close to everything. No car is needed when staying at the equater. The pool area is beautiful and comfortable. The property has 2 pools and 2 hot tubs. There is a perfect spot for everyone. There are plenty of sunning chairs, tables and chairs, cabana area, and an outside shower. The bar is right there (Tanden is a fantastic Bartender), and the towel bin is always full of clean fresh towels. The guests rang from young to older, big to smaller...truly a place for everyone. We continue to meet great guys everytime we visit. It's what you make it! We are a little more laid back, others are there to carry on....it all meshes together very well. And its CLOTHING OPTIONAL, maybe the best part! As a community we are fortunate to have a place like The Equator Resort. I can only hope its here for years to come. It's a truly unique Resort, in a truly beautiful setting. For someone who would love to eventually live in Key West, this has become a home away from home. Keep it up boys! We love this place! You all do an amazing job.

The "other" nice gay guesthouse. Its usually limited to guests only, but was there for an event. All the guests i spoke with spoke highly of the rooms. The garden had two lovely pools, 2 hot tubs, and tiki bar.

Great location, everything you need is in walking distance. Very well managed property. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I loved the mix of guests, from all parts of the country. Relaxing and friendly atmosphere. The happy hour is a wonderful opportunity to meet other guests. I will be back.

Beautiful vibe on the property and incredible staff to make you feel home away from home! You will truly enjoy your Key West experience with this terrific property! This is the entrance very state of the art and Avantè-garde! Take it from a local Conch, this is the place to stay!

Our first time here and what a great place! The property is well maintained and appointed with small attention to detail. It’s a very chill atmosphere and a great escape.

What can I say? This place far exceeded any expectations I Set. I literally felt like I was at a 5 star resort. The workers were very attentive to everyone of our needs. They're cleaning protocol is so far off the charts that they're probably isn't a measurement for it. Not sure if that's due to covid or if that's what they usually do. hospitality 5 stars. The rooms were very nice and clean and the pillows were is were super soft. The only problem that I had with the resort was all of the free chocolate. Considering I'm a recovering chocoholic. :) we shall return.
