The staff at check-in wanted to see and even copy my residence card, even though they do not have the right to make such a request to residents of Japan. After talking to their supervisor, they confirmed that it was not necessary, but they didn't at all seem apologetic about their behavior. Otherwise my stay was fine. The hotel is conveniently located and the room was clean and not too crammed.

The Good: location is decent for Kobe and you can walk to anything you need or want that Kobe has to offer. The shrine opposite has a nice atmosphere. Hotel is clean. The Bad: several rooms that I checked have old sagging mattresses which would hurt to sleep on. Overall the style of the hotel is poorly conceived as a kind of a hodgepodge nautical theme with stuffed animals and cartoon art. It is quite tacky and outdated - like the owners stopped paying attention after the mid 90s. There is a lack of attention to the little things that matter to me- like having blackout curtains that don't fit the windows and let in light. The alarm clock next to the bed is so bright I had to work to block it. TV is small and entertainment options are pretty limited. Given that I just left Kyoto and stayed at an awesome stylish hotel there which was cheaper but way more thoughtful and cool, I think the Hotel Monte Hermana needs an injection of money and passion to make me actually ever want to stay here again. There are other options in Kobe that would appeal to me much more. It's not terrible but it's definitely not memorable or cool.

Room itself is spacious compared to other hotels in japan. Location is pretty great, short walk to busy street and next to a shrine. Price is pretty reasonable as well. HOWEVER, the dirtiest hotel we stayed at in japan. The carpeted floor has multiple large and dark stains on them, the bathroom had a weird smell the whole time. As someone who’s a bit more sensitive to smells, I could not stand it.

Good solid hotel, room is larger than others I’ve stayed in so far in Japan. Bathroom is small but that has been consistent for all places I’ve stayed. Staff were friendly. They even have a mobile in your room that you can use during your stay with free calls and unlimited internet. Best part is that it’s in a great location. Highly recommend

over all it was perfect hotel for us. I am traveling with husband and 5 yrs son. Staff is very humble and very helpful. The room is simple and amenities ate more than enough. The location is convenient. all the local trains are nearby and also can get city loop bus. We are all satisfied our holiday staying here.

The biggest disappointment was it does NOT support the travel campaign that the Japanese government is promoting via agoda. It seemed the staff were unknowledgeable about the campaign and unwilling to help customers get the campaign benefits. (There was another hotel I stayed went through the trouble to rebook a room for me to help me get the benefits.) What's more interesting was when I was writing this review on Agoda, the review page was suddenly shut down and closed, and as a result I was not able to complete my review for whatever reasons. So I'm just sharing my experience here about what happened.

This hotel is located in the heart of the Sannomiya shopping area, closed to Ikuta shrine. Many restaurants and shops are in the walking distance which is nice. Our bedroom is new and clean. The only downside is that there's a weird smell inside our bathroom, which smells like a wet old cloth. That smell annoyed me every time i used the bathroom.

The noisy air conditioner was sniffing all night long. Draining hole is bath tank wasn’t working well. Good location, however this is not the only hotel available in the area Not recommended

I recently stayed at this hotel, and overall, it was a positive experience. The rooms were comfortable, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. However, the only significant drawback was the limited laundry facilities. With only three washing machines available for the entire hotel, it created a bit of inconvenience for guests. Considering the size of the hotel, it would be beneficial to invest in additional laundry amenities to enhance the overall guest experience. Despite this, I appreciated the other aspects of my stay and I recommend this hotel if you stay in Kobe.

A clean, comfortable room with a great location in Sannomiya. The staff were friendly and helped to keep our luggage before check-in and after check-out, when we went out.

For the price we got on booking(dot)com it was a great stay. Rooms are better than ykur average business hotel by quite a bit, shower/toilet room was especially nicer. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was great too. Nice stay!

I chose the hotel for its location near JR Sannomiya Station. I was taken aback to find a strand of hair on the table besides the desk lamp. I visited Japan a few times in the past years. The standard of hotel room hygiene was high. Everything was in order and clean then. One way to maintain high standards of hygiene in hotel room is to hire local supervisor who has the Japanese work attitude of paying attention to every details to closely check on the work done by foreign workers, train and improve the workers work attitude to maintain high standard. I checked in the hotel at about 7pm on 22/1/2023, I was served by a 25+ looking male Japanese front desk staff. Besides him was a woman front staff. I think he was senior to her. This man could speak English. But I did not like that he 1) did not smile to greet ASEAN guest like me b) a lofty attitude c) told me to move my luggage when there was a Japanese woman guest came, he assumed my luggage was in the way of this guest. He did not come and see the that actually I put my bag away from front desk, it was near lift lobby passage and not blocking any guest passage. The hotel management must improve the young front desk staff work attitude to tell him to show equal attitude to guest from ASEAN , just like when he was serving Japanese guests. Regards, Leow ban joo. Solo traveller from Singapore.

Love it here! Goid price (I got 5,800 yen for a very large room) on Friday. The decoration is beautiful. Kind staffs. All facility is there. Free coffee and u got a beautiful bottle of water as a souvenir.(the blue bottle in the picture) The hotel is located in the city centre. It has a great view. (You can literally see the view from the window). I am really happy here. Thank you❤️

I ended up vegging out at the hotel. I had a very nice weekend,Thank you. You can use it conveniently for both work and sightseeing, just steps away from Sannomiya Station(within walking distance)

Room space is very generous for Japanese hotels. The rooms are clean and the facilities are modern. It’s also in the city centre, next to Ikuta Shrine. Very convenient. Will definitely consider staying again. Only negative is the front desk staff seemed to be in a bad mood.

Very comfortable and modern Hotel. The location is also very good. Right next to the Ikuta Shrine and in walking distance to the Kitano Ijinkan Gai Quarter and just around the corner of all the restaurants and nightlife. The room was quiet and spacious with two big and comfortable beds. Especially notable was the hotel staff who were very helpful when we asked for a different room and even bend the rules a bit to make our stay more pleasant! They all spoke very good English.
