I booked this place with private hotspring. It was my first time going to Kobe and other than hotspring, I looked forward to Kobe beef with my wife. The location was wonderful, most staffs were friendly and helpful, the ryokan styled room was beautiful with a small private onsen. There were no heated flooring unlike most ryokan I stayed in, which was a little disappointing, but still comfortable. The onsen was extremely hot with no options to cool it down except leaving the lid open for some time, there were bugs on the water but we could remove it with the net provided. There were some nettings and trees to provide some privacy, but definitely not enough. The most disappointing part of the trip was the meals, I unfortunately topped up for full kaiseki meal with Kobe, only to find out that the Kobe provided was just couple of slices. The rest of the meals were stale and seemed like frozen food, the staff was handling all meals alone and rushing around. I’d just like to highlight that the photo and description provided on website was inadequate. Overall, a pleasant stay but not without shortcomings.

Nice opportunity for an onsen experience for 1100 Yen (for day guests), be aware of limited time slots (e.g. 11-14:30). Good but simple facilities, not too crowded. Friendly English-speaking staff.

Good food served in our room. Quite a few hot spring places and they are awesome. Below is the reason why i gave 2 stars to the service: 1. On our day of arrival, we booked a slot (7:30am) for the breakfast to be served in our room. At 6:45am the next day, the staff knocked on our door to serve the food... As it was way earlier than we booked it, we obviously were not ready to answer the door. We explained that we booked it for 7:30 but the staff still insisted to come in and serve the food... 2. The staff who served in the lobby has been so polite and always had a lovely smile duting our stay. However, right after we paid when we checked out, she stopped smiling at us and instead ignored us completely when we walked by and said hello to her. Thst just reveals thst all her seemingly friendliness before we checked out was all fake and not genuine.

A traditional Japanese style hotel located in Arima onsen area. The main building in located in front of arima river and annex is sitting behind the main building. There is a parking space but no elevator (only steel stairs, not convenient for luggage movement). The entrance is just right by the road and need to cautious for in-out. There seems bell-captain like staff but no luggage movement support service. The standard Japanese room size should be 16-18 sqm only (10 tatami in main room space, hotel staff insists it's 30 sqm but actual experiences is 50% smaller). The bath room and entry way is quite narrow (with 3 pairs of shoe outside, the door cannot be opened completely, the bath room can accommodate one person at the same time only, bath tub is just next by the toilet). Interestingly the official site indicates the room size as 16-18 sqm in room webpage but it becomes 30 sqm when you click through reservation webpage! The space ratio of room design is quite different from other Japanese hotel, need to pay attention to this!

Stayed one night in one of their traditional Japanese rooms with dinner and breakfast. We had high expectations and they definitely met it. The room was large and clean, the food was fresh and tasty, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The top floor onsens were quite large, easily able to handle 30 people if needed, with a well-equiped and clean change room.

Had booked the superior room with an outdoor onsen. The room comes with Kobe beef steak, kobe beef shabu shabu and sashimi for dinner. Grilled Fish, onsen egg that comes with rice for breakfast. There would be some cooking involved for both breakfast and dinner in the common area of the room. Con was that the onsen that comes with the room was filled with algae along the sides. Dinner wise was average and breakfast was just nice. Had better meals at izakaya. Meals were served by non-English/non-Chinese speakers, who tried to explain how each dish should be taken. Overall, a little high on the price side factoring the facilities, food and services.

Most spacious than we thought for a two person room. The onsens were fantastic especially the golden hot spring as it's unique to the Arima area.

Not as old as some reviews suggested. One of the bigger ryokans in the area, but it did not feel crowded at all. Meals were great, a bit rushed but overall quality food.

had a really nice stay at Arima Gyoen, the dinner and breakfast are very traditional Japanese taste so I can understand why some people didn't like it, for me 80% of the food were very nice and well seasoned the highlight of this place is definitely the service, all the staffs were very very nice and polite. The room is very clean. on the down side, the hotel is dated and the bathroom had a bad small to it, which was acceptable for us as we didn't us it much, the public bath was good, apart from the outdoor onsen which was smaller than the size of a king single bed

Classic Onsen Hotel Typical Japanese Onsen Hotel, Staff are very friendly and helpful. I had the dinner set brought to my room and the staff just keep working on it non stop. Breakfast was at the dinning hall, it's a set breakfast and the staff will non stop work on your breakfast too. Staff very hard working and friendly. Onsen was very relaxing and very clean. You should get the package with the dinner and breakfast set. Kobe beef was great, so many items for the dinner and breakfast. Do not sleep in and miss the breakfast, the breakfast will be prepared and will be wasted if you skip it. Room Tip: Take the package with dinner and breakfast

A good onsen with the pools on the top floor. Sufficient area to rest and great amenities. The gold pool feels special coz of the color and feel.

Had the suite with private silver spring. Kobe beef kaiseki dinner along with breakfast in the suite. It is a must have experience. If you have not done one of these in your life then you must in order to appreciate Japanese culture. Only thing is if you're a westerner and are not used to sleeping on the floor be warned! Lol
