For me the place is 5 stars, but it comes with a couple asterisks. Do you like the idea of having the check in desk being at the middle of a bar? Do you like the idea of bare concrete ceilings and funky decor (think a picture of two guys in horse masks playing ukuleles)? Do you like the restaurant option being a place called "Zombie Taco?" Do you like the idea of the elevators having walls that are chalkboards to draw on? If so, you're going to love this place. If you want a more "traditional" hotel experience this place will feel too wild for you. All that being said, it's not like this place is odd enough to be uncomfortable, it's just that they're trying to be creative and unique. The location is good, the rooms were comfortable and quiet (concrete floors and ceilings are not the best aesthetically in my opinion, but they do provide good sound insulation) and the service was friendly. Honestly a great place, assuming you're ok with the funky kind of atmosphere they're going for.

The Moxy will be our Go-to whenever we stay in Louisville. The staff is incredible and so kind. Justin, the bartender, is cool. The vibe here is simply awesome. Had we not just had dinner, we would have eaten at the zombie taco kitchen they have. Heard their food is really good. We will give that a try on our next visit. And another plus is that it is walking distance to all things downtown.

Surprised that I enjoyed this place as much as I did! A bit trendy for me, but dog friendly, really sweet staff, good tacos and right across from a park. Also very close to all downtown attractions. Small but comfortable room. I really liked Moxy!

This hotel “tries too hard” in my opinion. It’s nice and clean, but the rooms are tiny. There is no mini fridge, but one can be sent to your room. The “desk” (a fold down shelf) has no outlet nearby. There is no ice bucket either. This is definitely not a hotel for business travelers. It would be (and probably is) a great hotel for a weekend getaway or night on the town, but look to more business traveler friendly Marriott properties, if you are here for any type of work or plan to work on your computer in your room. The bar and restaurant are fun and it’s definitely a vibe…they’re trying for a NYC loft type feel. But I should have stayed at another hotel. For what it intends to be it is fine, but still smallish on the room size. I upgraded to a corner room after staying in a regular room a year ago and it’s STILL tiny by hotel standards. Other amenities (iron, more than 2 hangers, etc) are missing as well. The only trash bin is in the bathroom. Overall, it is clean and quiet. The restaurant in food options elevate my rating, but please avoid if you are a business traveler.

I enjoyed the eclectic style and vibe of the hotel. The style of my individual room also was nice and had great views. However, there were a few things that left a little to be desired from the hotel. First, the layout of the room was a little impractical. The "in-room desk" had zero outlets around it. As a result, I was unable to work from the "in-round desk". Second, there was no in-room coffee maker. When I went down in the morning to grab coffee, there was no coffee, and the woman behind the bar somewhat dismissively stated that "it would be ready in five minutes". After waiting about ten minutes, with no further word from the same woman and still no coffee, I headed back to my room. The lack of on-site parking was also a bit of a drag, especially when bringing luggage back and forth. While neat for a short or fun stay, I would not recommend the hotel for a business stay.

This place was perfect. Loved the location and the rooms and the vibe! All around excellent and we have fallen in love with The Moxy brand. HOWEVER- what truly made it great was the staff. They were so incredibly excellent. Every one of them was genuine and kind and happy to help us. David greeted us each morning with a smile and an attitude to help. The ladies behind the bar where so fun and really made our stay great! This is a unique place in a busy world. Step in and enjoy! All of these bartenders in the pic were so great and made us enjoy our stay.

Moxy is one of my favorite hotel chains whenever I visit a new city! This whole hotel is a vibe to me. It is such a modern, industrial-style hotel, and I love how cozy each hotel is. Some of the reviews for this place stated that it could be deafening at times since the doors are not soundproof, and yes, it is true, but I did not mind it when I stayed here since it was to be expected? This hotel is located in a highly coveted area in Louisville. When I came here, many events were happening downtown, such as concerts and significant sports events—so the loud noises at night were expected. The first floor/lobby area is where the fun happens at this hotel. The other guests staying here were so much fun to chat and hang out with downstairs. There is also a taco shop where you can order your tacos online, and they will be ready for pick-up in a few minutes. The bar is a great one as well. The drinks were curated for the guests, and the services were 10/10. I love the ambiance of this place! Parking can be challenging and expensive if you drive your car downtown as most places are first come, first serve in the garage and street parking. On the other hand, I did not have to drive as my friend from Louisville had to pick me up from my hotel to do our adventure in the city.

From the easy and quick check in, to their standard 12pm check out time, Moxy was amazing! The first floor has everything you'd need, games, a fireplace, a gorgeous bar with fantastic drinks, and cute little taco place attached!! There's also a clean fitness area, and a little snack/drink shop. The entire hotel was clean, and felt fresh! The room was cozy, it had a great view, and walk in shower. The staff were all friendly as well! 10/10 would stay here next time I'm in town!

I’ve had an absolute amazing experience here at the Moxie. I had a bartender name, Sarah he was extremely nice gave me great recommendations for drinks and places to go in the city of Louisville. She also made me some specialty cocktails that were absolutely amazing. Truly, the experience was awesome and will definitely be coming back, I appreciate you Sarah for the kindness great drinks and awesome recommendations. Thank you :-)

I only stayed for a short period, but the late check-in was easy, I got a nice upgrade, the room had an amazing view, a comfortable bed, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Also, great food and a wonderful old fashioned. I would definitely come back.

First time staying in a Moxy. When you walk in, your met at the bar by the receptionist and staff who were very friendly. Knew the local parking situation and was very knowledgeable of the area. They also give you poker chips upon arrival which are redeemable for a free mocktail. It’s a European style hotel so rooms are compact and only have what you need. For example, there’s no ironing board or refrigerator in room so if there’s something you need, you just ask the receptionist and they’ll have someone bring it to your room. The design is vibrant and has a cute lobby area with games. We stayed in an accessible room which was small so I imagine a regular room is much smaller. The bathroom could have been cleaned better as hair was left behind from previous guests. The rest of the hotel seemed fine though.

I booked a room here for my friend and I for the Bourbon and Beyond Festival and we had a great time. The location is fantastic. The room was very nice and clean. The whole hotel has a great vibe. I would definitely stay again

I didn't stay at the hotel but visited Zombie Tacos & the bar. The bar had a great selection of liquor and Sarah put a lot of attention and love into the drinks she made. I highly recommend this place.

By far the worst hotel I have been in in my life. Extra extra small rooms with no amenities. Smoke detector is a strobe light at night. Thermostat stoped working. Noise from the road at night This place ruined my Derby experience. Not only will I never stay here again. The experience was so bad I will never stay at another Marriott hotel again. You are a fool if you book a room here

The only problem with European style minimal accommodations (no fridge) at this location is the lack of healthy fresh (non processed) food within walking distance. Was a bit off put by the small room at first , no fridge or coffee maker, but after being there a week it sort of grew on me. Staff was very pleasant. Would stay again.

Bar themed hotel. We had a corner room with a spectacular view. The accommodations were nice but i wish there was a fridge in the room. The tacos downstairs were good. It was nice to have a bar in the hotel that didn't close early

Shout out to the marvelous Cayla at the front desk! Awesome check in experience. Hotel truly values its reward members. Great room with a fabulous view. The hotel has a fun vibe and a great location. Definitely a unique experience. We look forward to another visit.

Close to the waterfront. Was surprised at how compact the room was, but it was in walking distance of the Waterpark. Only disappointment, I requested a room with a view on high floor. I booked for myself and another couple, the other couple got the room I'd requested. Room with a nice view on high floor. Also, be advised there is no hotel parking. You must pay in the neighboring parking lots. Average was $32/day.

Great hotel. It was so modern, and clean. The rooms are small, but have everything you need. I loved the vibe. We got drinks downstairs and played board games until pretty late at night. Such a good time.

The hotel and staff were so amazing when we checked in. Loved the bar and the bartenders were great. The room itself was lovely with attention to detail. But check out was very upsetting. We had called 2 times before our stay, and were guaranteed that our gift cards would be accepted as payment Guess what? It didn't and caused such a headache for us. Overall loved the stay until it turned out they wouldn't accept the payment we were guaranteed would be accepted. That really was unsatisfactory and ruined what would have been the best hotel experience we've had post pandemic.

The most dog friendly hotel and so upbeat! Dog beds in the lobby along with water bowls! We were even greeted with treats upon entering. A modern and vibrant vibe! Will definitely be seeking this chain out on other trips! Super clean as well!

Such a great experience! Loved everything about the Moxy. From the moment we stepped in and checked in at the bar to the cuteness of our room and finally the staff, mainly Justin. His attitude, helpfulness and willingness to be available for anything his guests need was something that is lacking in most of customer service experiences. 100% will be back and looking forward to our next stay! Thank you, Justin!

Recently stayed at the Moxy for a concert and it was the perfect location. Only a block from the venue this hotel is close to everything, has a restaurant and bar on site and is really everything you need. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. After a few drinks at this show it was nice to stop in and grab some tacos too. Would highly recommend!

If you are looking for a hotel to stay at in Louisville (especially if you have a pet), I implore you to look no further. Upon check-in, you are greeted by the one-of-a-kind staff and a free cocktail at their bar with an excellent bourbon & spirits selection. The room is extremely modern and very cozy with a prime location on the Whiskey Row. The hotel overall is unique and has a great amount of curated detail from it’s lobby to it’s rooms. However, what really won my wife and I over was the impeccable staff. We have stayed in countless hotels over the years and this staff, by far, was one of the most accommodating and nicest groups of people we have stayed with. Each and every one of the team members were very nice and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. We brought our small Boston Terrier dog with us as well and he was welcomed with (quite literally) open arms. Even at 3am in the morning when we took our dog to use the restroom, we were greeted by 3 smiling team members that asked if we needed anything as we walked outside. We were truly blown away by this staff’s service and will gladly stay here each and every time we come to Louisville in the future. This was our first time staying with Moxy and will certainly not be our last. Give them a try - you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Louisville Moxy. I do appreciate that they give you a token upon checking in as a welcoming gift (to redeem for a house cocktail). The Zombie Taco was a good option for breakfast. Great place to stay for a night or two if you are looking to stay around Whiskey Row or the Yum! Center. Great option for Marriott Bonvoy members.

This was my first time in Louisville. I was here for a week for work. The hotel and staff are fantastic. The rooms are updated in a modern styles, coolest concept I have seen. The rooms are just a little smaller than most than average hotel rooms but extremely comfortable and well maintained. Smack in the middle of downtown and walking distance from the YUM Center and night life. I can’t wait to return next month!

This was our first experience staying at a Moxy and we loved it! Such a fun/hip vibe compared to your traditional hotels. Room is a bit smaller than what a traditional hotel room is, but in the end, it worked and honestly we weren’t in our room much anyways. Customer service was on point and the location was amazing…everything was within walking distance. Parking was easy to find and 20 a day. I think our only complaint was how firm the mattress was and sometimes the zombie taco ordering line blocked the way of getting in and out of the hotel. Other than that, would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for just one night and it was AMAZING!!!! We got in later and went down the bar for a drink and some tacos. The lobby and "living room" area was awesome!! The bartenders and staff were extremely friendly. We didn't get to do anything in the city as this was just a rest stop on our way back home. But we plan on coming back to visit and I know where we will be staying!!! This was our first time at a Moxy. Rooms were small but quite comfortable and awesomely decorated!!! I absolutely loved it here! Parking was easy and short walk to hotel.

FANTASTIC staff!!! Every tune we arrived or left the hotel, they acknowledged our arrival or departure. Ordering drinks or market items was so easy and simple...they recognized us and put them on our room. The common area was always maintained and clean. Great hotel to spend time at!

Booked our room far in advance for Thunder Over Louisville. I stopped in a month before our reservation to check on everything. Lew was very polite and helpful at that time as I was worried about not getting the room I wanted. The hotel was great about sending updated info in emails preparing us for Thunder Over Louisville traffic. Apon arriving, parking took patience. I recommend valet! The room was SMALL, but the view was GREAT! I'm 6ft 2 BIG girl and it was almost too small of a room. Our room was pretty warm and I called down to the front desk and they brought us a fan. VERY ACCOMMODATING! Thank you for a pleasant stay 😊

Love the Moxy! More of a boutique hotel than a traditional Marriott! Very eclectic and fun decor! Rooms are exceptional! Parking is a little challenging but doable. Lobby is full of entertainment and an excellent bar! Staff is awesome!

The atmosphere and location of this Moxy makes it a fun experience. I've stayed at the Moxy locations in Phoenix and Nashville many times and love those hotels. While the location is fantastic, the rooms in the Louisville location are much smaller than the other Moxy locations I've stayed at which was disappointing. I really liked the gym at this location, as it had a great cable machine, dumb bells, kettle bells and plenty of cardio machines. Giving a 3 star rating due to the small size of the rooms and also the staff being more interested in their personal conversation, leaving me standing at the desk for several minutes before addressing me and checking me in.

We recently stayed at the Moxy for a quick weekend trip and were very impressed! The hotel lobby bar was inviting and the bartenders were fun to talk to! The room had a great view, and the location was ideal for walking around downtown Louisville. I plan to stay here anytime I travel to Louisville!

We recently stayed here over the weekend. The bar was lively and the service was quick and efficient! It was the perfect place to spend time in the evening. The room was clean and well thought out. I’d highly recommend the Moxy to anyone who is looking for a hotel in a great location with a great “lobby” to hang out in.

Overall my experience wasn't the best. I got a bit of an attitude right at check in but hey its whatever. Atmosphere of the hotel was great, lots of things to do inside and enjoy right where you stay. I did have issues with their gym area though. No wipes to wipe anything down and when asked, they had none available. So everything was a bit sweaty and gross and no one could wipe anything off after they were done using it. They did have towels in there which was nice, and hand sanitizer so I thought maybe I could use that as a little sanitizing wipe. Well the hand sanitizer didn't seem to want to come out, so figured maybe it was empty. Yeah.. no.. it was full of bugs and plugged up, why it wasn't coming out. I addressed the issue with front desk, but I have no idea if it was looked at or taken care of as I didn't go back in there after that as we only stayed one night. It did however make me wonder about the rest of the hotel and the cleanliness of everything. My room had a few spots on floor where it wasn't completely swept up or cleaned. Open room concept was kind of neat. Parking was also a bit nuts, the parking garage is a block up after the red light and it's a lot of one way streets around this place. Overall it was a nice bar with rooms above it, but I don't believe I would ever stay here again.
