One of the best restaurants I’ve ever had. Every dish was masterfully executed. Value for money. A restaurant deserving of its name. A must-try in Maastricht.

This is a restaurant everyone visiting Maastricht definitely has to stay at. Asian Fine Dining with a wide variety different meals. Additionally to Al-a-Card there are 3 Menus to choose from. 2 Menus, where the chef is choosing the dishes and a social Menu. The social sharing Menu is a 3-course Menu, where each person within the group can choose 2 meals for each course. What you get you can share with everyone at the table.. Very good!

This restaurant is inside the hotel I'm living in. So it's natural for me to try dining here. A three-course set costs only €26 so I decided to give it a try. One could choose two dishes from each of the courses. You've got a lot to choose from, and the food quality is truly premium. You won't regret patronizing this restaurant. The dinner was so rich and ultra delicious. The portion was generous and in order not to waste foods, we asked for packing up the leftover and took them away.

Well, it was okay. Not more, not less. We had the 5 course bib menu and expected more... The restaurant is not very nice, old and ugly furniture, horrible interior! I didn't feel very comfortable in there. Overpriced for what you get

Amazing restaurant. Price is very reasonable considering the high quality of the food and presentation (about 35-40 euros per person at lunch time, with cocktail, dessert and tea as well as the main course) . Highly recommend if you pass nearby, great combination of Asian and French cuisine and very friendly staff !

The staff are kind, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is elegant and tranquil. I would highly recommend giving this restaurant a try!

The 2 course meals are perfect for sharing, lovely and kind staff, best experience in Maastricht.

Just horrible value for money spent. Multiple dishes in their bib gourmand menu had the same basic plain ingredients. Not a single dish was surprising or had interesting flavors or textures. As bread they served cheap bake off bread from Aldi, and the waiters had no knowledge of the dishes or the accompanying wines. The wine was not poured at the table, and came without explanation of what we were drinking or why it was served with the dish in the wine arrangement. The dishes were also just placed on the table without any explanation of what we were eating.

Great atmosphere and small dishes which are served with a lot of love and dedication. Taste and visual presentation are superb! Friendly staff.

A highly recommended place for a family or friends get-together, to enjoy sharing dishes that are plenty to choose from. Great taste and presentation, fast and professional service. The only minus for me personally: I find decor and ambience quite off, which does not make it a place I want to stay long at. However, I doubt it is an important thing for many people.

Disclaimer: it would be worth MAYBE 2 stars, but I want to make you aware of the significant issue of this establishment. All the following comments are related to the public reputation, awards, and reviews emphasizing a pristine experience at this restaurant, apparently justifying the outrageous prices. First (impression): you enter the restaurant and have an impression of a Mensa/cafeteria (loud, bright and chaotic) after entering through the door covered with 'achievement' labels of Michelin etc... Don't fall for these labels! Second (ambiance): being able to choose the seat, although having reserved a table for a week seemed unorganized and unprofessional. The choice lies between the entrance room, which looks like a medical practice, and the main dining room looking like a shisha bar or a neon mini golf course. Third (decor): the tables are undecorated (maybe one candle) with no table cloth but plain tables, like at a fast food location. Fourth (service): The waiters are all nice but far from professional. There is a strong feeling of obedience, instead of discipline, of the waiters; causing a Moreover, the tables won't be cleaned nor is there any bread, or any other snacks provided, which would be appropriate for a welcoming evening. Fourth (food): Here lies my main point, the food provided is qualitatively and taste-wise disproportionally bad, considering the reputation and price, and a disgrace for any valuable gourmand guide like the Michelin. The plates which were supposed to be warm ended up on the table cold. Creating a 'social dining' (as they call it) and not being able to prepare multiple meals simultaneously to create a proper warm meal goes against any reasonable rational of dinning. It simply tastes like food that comes from a, moderate or even low-class, buffet or from a canteen. The ONLY thing making this place interesting from an external point of view is how the food is presented. But any food, even a burger, wherever, can be presented nicely if desired. Definitely not to recommend, not for the price, quality, ambiance and service. I'm not affiliated with any restaurants, but definitely safe your time and money and spend it more wisely in e.g. Harry's. Underlying message: AVOID.

I recommended coming here to my friends that were visiting Maastricht for the first time as I have come here before and loved everything about Umami. They loved the food, the service was also very nice, the ladies there are very hospitable, and the atmosphere was very pleasant as it was not too busy. Would totally recommend to anyone if you haven't gone before and if you would like to try something different in Maastricht for a unique change. My rate: 4/5. We got the Lunch Classic 2-Course: 2 dishes per person per course. In general the food was tasty. Some dishes needed improvements. Service was fine. The only minus point was small portion. Recommended!

Really great vegan food. Try the small dishes - it's like having a Japanese tapas. The food is really well prepared and I didn't have to wait long.

My family and I had a wonderful dinner experience at Umami when we were in town. The food was delicious and every single dish looked stunning, the chefs really pay attention to detail when assembling them! The idea of sharing the different dishes was refreshing and allowed us to try more of the menu without wasting anything. The service was also super friendly and we had a nice chat in between the different courses. This restaurant is for sure a must try when visiting Maastricht!

I like the place, the service was good. Staff was very polite, helpful and pro. Food was amazing. Each dish brought you new journey of joy and excitement. Portion size compare to the price is acceptable. You are free to choose among many options which is good when you come to this quality and variety of dishes. I personally prefer more lights in restaurant. because the art of the colour in my plate is part of the journey and I missed it. Everything has a shade of blue/purple as you can see in photos.

Not worth it. Very basic food in super small overstylized portions (Asian "tapas ") for high prices. You're paying for ambience here, not amazing food.

Totally puzzled why this establishment appears in the Michelin guide. Morning rolls with chinese sauce😂 Come on…. Not to mention raw paprika or baby food mango puree straight from the tin. And don’t get me started with the boiled corn… Not one of the tasted 10 dishes was a decent effort. Service was attentive 👍

Without a doubt some of the most incredible food I’ve ever eaten. Each course fit together beautifully, and the perfect combination of sweet, savory, hot and cold made for a delicious lunch. Our waitress was extremely helpful and nice, her English was incredible, and we had no problem communicating. The ambience, food, and service combined to make a spectacular meal.

The food was good, but we had to wait 20 minutes after we were seated before asked if we could have something to drink, and then we had to wait a full hour for the first course. In between courses we also had to wait an hour every time. Very understaffed.

Amazing place with a great modern ambiance… The food is great and the staff are very welcoming… I would try more dishes next time (^_^)
