This
wagyu
restaurant
was
recommended
by
my
hotel
and
they
have
multiple
locations
across
Tokyo.
I
elected
to
try
the
location
in
Roppongi
as
it
was
in
the
heart
of
the
area
and
allowed
for
additional
sightseeing
or
barhopping
afterwards.
The
restaurant
provides
a
number
of
set
menus,
and
I
elected
the
mid-level
SERYNA
dinner
for
12,960
yen,
which
consisted
of:
amuse,
hot
appetizer,
grilled
prawn
and
scallop,
wagyu
prime
sirloin,
vegetable
salad,
garlic
rice
and
miso
soup,
dessert
and
coffee.
I
upgraded
to
the
use
of
Kobe
beef
for
an
additional
6,000
yen.
The
amuse
of
spinach
and
mushrooms
was
clean
and
refreshing.
The
hot
appetizer,
which
was
a
slow
cooked
beef
stew,
was
savory
and
a
bit
heavier
to
further
whet
the
appetite.
Next
was
the
first
teppan
grilled
course,
the
prawn
and
scallop.
Word
of
warning,
the
prawn
is
alive
when
they
start
grilling
it.
While
the
prawn
and
scallop
were
delicious,
this
might
catch
some
people
off
guard.
Next
was
the
wagyu
steak,
which
I
ordered
medium
due
to
a
bout
of
food
poisoning
the
night
before.
It
was
purely
buttery,
melt-in-your-mouth
texture,
and
had
a
wonderful
mouthfeel.
The
way
the
chef
sliced
through
the
beef
made
it
apparent
that
it
was
going
to
be
very
tender
even
before
I
put
the
first
piece
in
my
mouth.
Next
was
the
string
cut
vegetable
salad,
which
was
a
nice
crisp,
refreshing
break
from
the
meat.
And
to
complete
any
Japanese
meal,
the
chef
grilled
garlic
fried
rice
accompanied
by
pickles
and
miso
soup,
superb.
After
finishing
the
meal,
you
are
taken
to
a
separate
area
to
enjoy
your
selected
dessert
and
coffee
to
engage
in
conversation
before
ending
the
evening.
Service,
was
top
notch,
as
expected
in
Japan.
The
chefs
and
wait
staff
spoke
enough
English
to
describe
each
dish
or
drink,
and
all
in
all,
this
was
a
top
level
experience.
