Amazing cocktail whiskey bar. Lovely drinks, great atmosphere and they play good music. They have so many different whiskey for taste. Their cocktails are all created by staff. Must come and visit.

Beautiful decor and ambiance. The staff is extremely knowledgeable on whisky and scotch, which the bar has a huge selection. You can ask for a 0.5oz or 1oz glass and they even have tasting sets. Even the food was good, we took the nachos to share, it was enough for 4 people. On Sundays, they have a live jazz band starting at 21h00 and they also serve 1$ oysters.

What an exceptional atmosphere. Live jazz on Sunday, $1 oysters. And sophisticated cocktails. Visit here if you want an extensive choice of specialty cocktails. Their chefs, mixologists and servers are top notch! Our server Tao was friendly, personable and knowledgeable about their menu items. We’re looking forward to returning once again on our next trip to Montreal !

Leaving a review before we even leave, Antoinne has been phenomenal, some of the best service I've ever had between his personality, courteousness, and how well versed on the bar he is. Probably the best part of my birthday so far. I can't thank him enough for the wonderful contribution to tonight. Julien was also a fantastic addition to the evening we spent here. Will definitely be back.

Loved the underground type vibe of this bar. Tony our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. He even gave us recommendations for similar bars since we were from Toronto . It was also cool getting to see how the drinks were made, it was an entire show. Drink also tasted phenomenal and the presentation was very good

Very tasty food, meat tartare and nachos were great. I also recommend checking out the happy hours for oysters. 💘 One of the waiters was amazing at knowing alcohol and my husband was very pleased with his whiskey recommendations.

Benson guided me through a tantalizing tasting of Scotch this evening (although I was able to please my taste buds). I am a big fan of the Highlands... and this time asked for a bit of peat/smoke. A nice little journey here in Montreal in a fantastic lounge... prepping me for my trip to my grandfather's birthplace in Scotland. Also might have found my go to going forward. Thank you.

An all-around excellent bar to visit when you're in the area. The atmosphere is so soothing and calming, the drinks are on another level, and the staff is very friendly. The bartenders are world-class professionals and you can tell they have a passion for this. If you can't find street parking, there's a $12 parking garage just around the block on Milton with the on-foot exit/entrance just about facing Bootlegger.

This was a great place to hang out and have quality cocktails and delicious food. Julian was amazing and very helpful and welcoming. The DJ played great hits and made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Amazing place, nice atmosphere, music; we went for whiskey tasting and the experience was great. I love cocktails so later we tried a few cocktails, we didn’t have before; very tasty and unique. Lize was our host for the night. Very friendly, she guided us through the tasting, she properly took care of us as guests; 10/10! I definitely recommend it!

Nice place to chill and have a drink. The staff was nice, good music and a lot of choices of whiskey and other cocktails. Food was ok but the nachos were good! Its a bit pricey for what you get but once in a while is ok. I'd recommend this place to anyone especially if you are a whiskey lover!

Wonderful ambiance and delicious cocktails. My friends and I actually stopped here after having an underwhelming experience at another bar down the street. This place really exceeded our expectations. The cocktails were so much better than most of the other bars we went to. The food we ordered was delicious too! And our server was lovely and very good at her job despite it being her first day.

Great bar. Underrated and always lively in a great way. Music was awesome and the waiter was extremely knowledgeable. Had the Jameson IPA and it was delicious. Will be back for sure and to try the Jameson Stout next time around. Some of the best vibes in the city for sure.

amazing atmosphere in this cozy bar with live jazz. Sunday nights when the live jazz band plays you can savor 1$ oysters and amazing cocktails or whiskey or absinthe tasting served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Food is also delicious and plates are quite sizable.

I am from Toronto visiting, and I was looking at places to go with good reviews and the bootlegger bar seemed like it had a cosy atmosphere and it’s true I love the vibe the service was incredible. Everything was up to par. We were served by Rita, who was amazing and made sure we had a good experience and recommended a create cocktail and overall great experience would love to come again!

Place has a nice Vibe. The decor and dim lighs and the service all 5 star. My favourite drink was the smoking lisa. But also tried the peach julep (slight sweeter). The staff was really friendly too.Highly recommend this bar

Chris was incredibly knowledgeable and charismatic. He took us through the history of each whiskey and gave us a wonderful experience and deeper appreciation for whiskey. 10/10- the private tasting is perfect for a couple, group- no matter your knowledge/experience with whiskey. You’ll come out an expert 🙌

If I could give 6 stars I would! My favourite bar so far in Montreal! The bartenders are AMAZING!! They would listen to your preferences and customize drinks for you. Absolutely love it.

The first drink was okay. We changed seats to the bar and the remaining drinks were amazing! The bartender Vincent was very passionate in making the drinks and helped us find something we really enjoyed; i.e. smoking Lisa, play on a smoked old fashioned (forgot the name). Tip: order the made in house, specialty cocktails and sit by the bar.

For expertly mixed classics or artisan creations you will find no better place than Bootlegger. When you book your reservation ask for a seat at the bar. It is rare that we go back to the same place when on vacation but we ended up going to Bootlegger 3 times and tried nearly every cocktail, their flights, and some classics. Every drink was outstanding. The Bootlegger was a definite vacation highlight and we thank Vincent for all the great service.

We only had cocktails. But they live up to the reputation. We ordered the house special that night , Irish cream , gold biscuit and one vanquerra something if that name..all were pricey but super super super delicious.

Very nice lounge bar in Lawerence street! Nice background music. Barman was quite knowledgeable and gog us exactly what we wanted! Prices are higher than average

This place was amazing. The ambience was sophisticated, perfect for Scotch tasting and a glass of wine for the lady. Have give a hats off to Tony. He went 110% with being a great source of knowledge with scotch related questions. Definitely going to recommend this place.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Montreal. The bartenders are complete professionals and drinks are fantastic. The entire atmosphere is peaceful and elegant. Definitely the best cocktail bar we visited while here.

Their kitchen never close and selections are whiskeys are very wide. Definitely coming back to try out all the selections they have!!

Visited the Bootlegger Cocktail bar over the weekend and we had such an amazing time! As soon as you enter the place, the atmosphere and the vibes take you to a different era! The cocktails are absolutely delicious and the menu has a great variety, the service is nice as well. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and ended up staying past 2am on a Sunday night. Will definitely come back the next time we're in the city.

Service was very slow, I get it they were busy but under staffed and never told us (which helps the table understand) we waited 40 minutes to order n get drinks. Cocktail, Fresh Fiz, 4/10 ice was watered down as it sat at bar for 15 minutes waiting to be ran. Potatoes were bland and the other server did not seem to care to help his counterpart. Overall team needs to work together more and bar needs to work on quality. Not worth the $

Super great bar with amazing bartenders, they mix fantastic cocktails. We had a mint julep and a superb apple brandy Manhattan. It was the best cocktail ive ever had. The atmosphere of the bar is so sweet. With reall burning lams and low lights it feels like your stepping back in time.

Our waiter never came back to us to even ask if everything is ok. In addition, I asked for pulled pork and I got fried chicken sandwich. I was able to grab the hostess attention and told her, but no one cares to apologize. Service at least the waiter I had was terrible. Hostess was nice, greater us and explained dnd menu. Overall, the food was OK.

Douchey upsell from the bartender when I sat down for my first drink. Essentially awkwardly pressured me into buying a scotch that was twice as much in front of the other patrons “because I should try something different”. Poor etiquette and approach to service. It’s important to understand people’s financial limits and when they ask for something twice they probably want it.

This place is a freaking dream! Stepping in feels like you've gone back in time to the 1920s. The ambiance is cozy, dim lighting, moody atmosphere, and the drinks are epic. I personally go for the whiskey and am never dissapointed. They have a really solid list of whiskies from all over and offer a phenomenal flight of nicely paired whiskies for tasting. Friends have tried their drinks and have had only compliments to give. There is a particularly popular smokey one that makes everyone's heads turn when it is brought to a table. All in all, my favourite speakeasy type bar in Montreal... If not my favourite bar hands down

One of the best place in Montréal! Highly recommend it if you like cocktails, whisky and a good ambience. Found my new favorite cocktail. The Gimlet! The staff was great and made me feel at home! Definitely going back there.

The atmosphere here is really cool and there is a large selection of drinks and snacks with something for everyone. The staff and owners really want everyone to feel at home! With unbeatable drinks and customer service, stopping in here is an absolute must. Huge thanks to the crew that was there on 09/12 for the best experience- can’t wait to come back!

This is a very cool place, with a great and deserved reputation in the Montreal night life. However, it does not make any sense at all to have live music only on Sundays. To start at 21:00 on a Sunday is sort of interesting though, as I can put baby to bed and hit the road to a beautiful week to come ;)

Awesome whisky place (yes, without the "e"). We went for the live jazz but due to COVID, that isn't happening right now. Great ambiance and nice, little tables for two. If you can't pick a whisky, ask for a recommendation and tell them your preferences. You'll probably get a new favorite. Santé!

The wife and I went there last night for a comedy show - one of the first real events we've been to since moving back to Montreal. We had a great night! The MC was really funny and even the door guy was cool. And our server, Cassania (spelling?) was super nice and awesome. (Tip your servers, people!) The décor and atmosphere of the place was exceptionally done and very comfortable. And of course I have to mention all of the comics which were super-funny and interactive! :D Loved them. For the two of us, including tickets and drinks, we had a great night for *under* $80. Definitely worth checking out - we'll be going back again for sure!

When doing research for our trip to Montreal, we stumbled upon this and made reservations. We sat at the bar and had the best time. I had a lot of bourbon that I had wanted to try. We also got some recommendations from behind the bar. We had drinks we would have never ordered but absolutely loved. The cocktail guru behind the bar was attentive and answered questions. Quite the show! The spin dip was amazing as well. We will definitely be coming back.

Bootleggers is a quaint bar with a Speak Easy vibe! The drinks are unique and delicious! They also offer Scotch flights which is rare but a favorite of ours. Ask for Tristan if you go, he was so wonderful. He was very friendly and proposed many options based on our preferences. We highly recommend to anyone looking to relax and have a nice cocktail! Visiting Montreal for the first time, I’m so happy we stopped by Bootlegger cocktail bar. We sat at the bar and Christ was our bartender. Not only did he have insane flair but he hand crafted a cocktail for me based on a few of my personal preferences. The vibe of the bar was vintage and classy - and Christ made our experience really special. 10/10

Food was decent, drink was great and service was amazing too. Server had good knowledge about drinks and made good suggestions. BUTTTTTT the place was super cold!! We were all freezing… toooo cold we were all shivering and hands were really cold. We asked for blankets and luckily the bar had 3 blankets to give. But we couldnt stay longer from the insane cold AC we had to leave after only few drinks. I saw other review complaining about the insanely cold AC but the owner replied they cant control it. Maybe stopping the AC for every half an hour or so could work adjust the temperature? Or go really well prepared to fight the blasting AC.

This place has a very nice ambiance and decor. I went on a sunday night for the live jazz music, and it was delightful! I also tried the tartar and a cocktail which were both good. However, we were put at a table right next to the band, making it hard to talk with my friends. Our waiter was pretty rude, kept turning his back to us while passing our table, and we had to seek him out for water, which was never offered, although everybody else did. I was very dissapointed with his way to approach us, especially considering how warm the atmosphere of the place is. I just wish we could have been served by his colleague since he was attentionate. We also had to wait a long time for the bill and ask twice to another server as ours was ignoring us and barely present on the floor. In addition, we saw the cook vape in the kitchen, which is open to the dining area. Overall, i found the experience/ambiance/concept to be enjoyable, but the execution for us was unfortunately pretty poor.

The atmosphere with the live music was absolutely awesome, and I was very excited to get a custom drink. Unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations as I had asked for something that didn’t taste like alcohol and the first sip made me cringe, I asked to sweeten it and the waiter looked frankly done with me (he also sighed the first time I asked for a custom drink, which is advertised on their menu), he kept turning his back to us, we never got water while we were there until we asked for it which was much later in the evening because he’d always turn his back to us whenever he’d serve people around us. They weren’t actively mean, but definitely some attitude there that I didn’t expect as I was extra friendly and nice as I know what it is like to work in customer service. We ordered food, and he just put the plate there without saying anything, and just left. Overall the vibes are there for a great evening, but the staff could use a little smile and a better attitude. The food was also very meh, the fries were super dry and not crispy at all, which was a big disappointment. 🥹
