Wow! Went there for a good couscous left there with a smile. Not just because the couscous was amazing ! But because the owner is a man with a big heart. I ll return there (living in the usa 2h30 from Tarot). If you know anyone looking for a job, the owner is looking for help.

Great discovery in plateau Montreal. I recommend the royal degustation menu . The owner is charming and the portions are huge. The flavors are out of this world. A great place for sharing with friends bring your own wine. A 5 stars!

Extremely disappointing! I took a couscous royal, the merguez didn’t taste anything like merguez. The broth as as tasteless as it could be. Never again.

I haven’t tried a lot of Moroccan/Algerian restaurants in Montreal, but this one is really one of the places I will definitely come back to. The cook was so nice that he offered me a free salad to start my meal. I tried their veal Tajin and it melts in your mouth. It was so good. Atmosphere is warm and inviting with some Moroccan/Algerian songs playing in the background. The menu is in French only but it wasn’t that hard to order from

I am so glad we chose this restaurant for a relaxing family lunch. The owner Noureddine was kind and welcoming. We enjoyed a large, filling meal with cucumber & tomato salad, assorted olives, pastilla au poule, vegetable soup, lamb tagine, kofta meatballs, couscous, chicken over rice, and then topped it off with tea, coffee & dates. Wow! Each dish was better than the last. All the meat was tender, the vegetables were fresh & well-cooked, and everything was seasoned perfectly. The environment is warm and relaxed. I wish we lived in the area so we could come again and again.

My wife and I were visiting from NY. We wanted to try authentic Moroccan cuisine and found this restaurant was open at 3pm and had good reviews. We ordered a couple of items and the food was amazing. Everything we tried was very tasty. Expect large portions. So If ordering multiple items, you'll likely have left over food to go. The chef was friendly and very accommodating. We asked for an item that wasn't in the menu at the time and he still made it for us. We highly recommend this restaurant for casual or special occasions. You will impress your guests!

Kinda out of the way. Good food! I found the lamb shank to be smaller than I thought. The lamb veal that my girlfriend had was much better in taste.

A couscous order here, priced around $30 CAD, is more than sufficient for two dinners, especially the house special Tarot which included Merguez sausage links and a lamb shank, along with a full bowl of broth and vegetables that the meats were stewed in. Potatoes and carrots were so absolutely tender and nourishing; it's summer time now, but one can only imagine how satisfying this dish might be in colder weather when the benefits would be felt in your bones. A side of a hot sauce not unlike schrug came with stewed apricots for an addition of earthy heat and balancing sweetness. Let both dissolve into your couscous on the plate, seasoning per serving, rather than adding to the main broth dish.

I have been wanting couscous for the past couple of days so after a Google search, we settled on Au Tarot. It was quiet, the owner was really nice, friendly and welcoming. My husband and I ordered the lamb couscous and it was amazing. The portions are generous and we even took the leftover home. The owner added a little more couscous for us to take home. Nice discovery 👌 👍 Definitely,we'll go back.

This is now my new favorite restaurant in Montreal. Probably its best feature is the talented and gracious chef/host. The food was amazing, with generous portions lovingly presented. The lamb tender & succulent, the Pastilla classic and delicious, and even the "sides" like couscous with braised veggies, superb. You could see that the chef's pride as he presented each course, you'll want to shout BRAVO at the end!

At first, nobody came to welcome us at the door for a good 20-30 minutes. The owner was nice and took his time to explain the menu. We didn’t have the best experience with the royal coucous. The merguez and lamb wasn’t too flavourful. We recommend trying the soup and beef briks.

A homie place. Food is a delight, as much as the owners heart. We were 10 guests and we had plenty of food, tastes are authentic. It's been in my address book for a while now. Never did they disappoint, as well good on delivery.

amazing food and service. Lamb and chicken was tender and flavourful. Large portion sizes. the Chef's laugh was so wonderfully joyous. The mint tea and sweets instantly transport you to Morocco. To top it off the chef was from Chefchaouen, one of my favourite places in the world. definitely a Montreal must!

Had an absolutely amazing experience here with my friends. The owner treated us as if we were guests coming into his home, and the food tasted home cooked as well. Heaping, huge portions as large as the owner's heart. He did something for me that I've never experienced- not only did he take care to pack my leftovers for me rather than tossing me a box - he filled up the container with even more couscous! I was so touched. The place is tastefully decorated also. Nothing but good things to say about Restaurant Au Tarot.

I loved this restaurant. Food was delicious and portions were generous. But the best part was the owner who was full of stories and just genuinely brightened up the evening for my family. Very enjoyable and entertaining evening. Will be returning.

Authentic Maroccan Cuisine. What an amazing discovery! It is bring your own wine/beer, which I love. They also have delivery. We were a party of three who shared 2 entrées (Chicken & Almond Pastilla and Garlic Snails) and a Royal Coucous. It was so delicious! We ordered too much, but couldn’t praise enough the cook for the amazing amount of flavor contained in every plate! Their home bread is also excellent. The service was quick and courteous. The food is fantastic. We were a large party visiting Montreal, and the customer service was fantastic. The owner is great and very welcoming. They have good safe gluten free options.

Had a reservation for a sunday 1100am for a bday in October . We had a toddler and a newborn with us. When we got to the place restaurant was closed keep in mind hours on google is from 11am-11pm. I called was told they forgot our reservation and they will be on site in 20 minutes. Then I wonder how long more to cook the food. My hungry toddler cannot wait that long neither can we. No thank you
