The city view was breathtaking, the Chalet was magnificent. All side trails were closed. The main trail did not have any shade, it was a hot day at the end of May, felt like over 30 °c. The scenery around the pond was beautiful.

Beautiful view. A very nice hike up. The stairs at the end can be a bit much so just pace yourself. I loved that there were seats inside and outside for people to take in the view. Refreshments, restrooms, and a small Montreal gift shop at the top. You can even get ice cream. They also gave ther history of the chalet and fun facts. I would come back.

Situated all the hilltop position at Mount Royal, this lovely piece of Beaux-Arts architecture provides the much needed resting, catering and washroom facilities to visitors to the park and the Kondiaronk Lookout. The hall is a social space and can be used for meetings and conferences. Inside the building, the wall has large-scale paintings depicting the history of Montréal by thirteen famous Canadian artists. Exposed beams decorated with carved wooden squirrels, chandeliers and a large fireplace give a rustic scene.

Having soaked in the mesmerising sweeping views Mount Royal lookout offers, this the perfect retreat to soak in the aftermath of such a lovely scenery. An 1932 built automatically draws you to it with its charm and encapsulates you to an entirely different world once you are inside. The chalet offers warm coffee and other items enough to enjoy the interiors and catch up with you buddies. Enjoy.

Mount Royal is a must visit in Montreal, conveniently located a short drive from downtown Montreal this is the best spot in the city to see all of the Montreal skyline. The expansive viewing area will ensure you can view the scenic skyline from very angle. Parking is located less than 5 minutes away and is very reasonably priced. A great spot for families to relax and unwind during their visit and experience the true beauty of Montreal.

An amazing place for all seasons. This beautiful chalet functions not only as a social space, but its artwork and woodwork are worth to enter. Large-scale paintings depicting the history of Montreal by 13 Canadian artists.

The best view of Montreal!!! Everything it’s amazing here, from the walk to “climb” there (there’s everything so that you don’t have to make such a big effort), to the store and of course the view… you can easily fall in love here!!! It’s like a perfect spot to have a perfect moment (like saying I love you, marry me or something like that hahaha) Really worth the time to get here!!!

The Chalet du mont Royal dates back to 1931. Commissioned by then Mayor Camillien Houde to help offset unemployment during the Great Depression, it was designed by Québec architect Aristide Beaugrand-Champagne, in the French Beaux-Arts and Arts and Crafts architectural styles.

Gorgeous vistas, huge public space and a nice chalet to relax and "nature calls" types of emergencies! Speaking of which, the bathrooms are usually quite clean for such a busy place. The hike is relatively quick and definitely worth it if you want breathtaking views. Taking the stairs is also breathtaking, but for a very different reason! 😆 Don't miss out on this one if you're in Montreal!

It’s NOT open. Despite repeatedly trying to update google, no one seems to be taking notice. I was so looking forward to a cappuccino overlooking the city of Montréal after a fairly long walk/hike, but my expectations were shattered. So for anyone thinking of visiting this place, again it is NOT open. Edit: Thank you for gaslighting my experience. No, I was in fact able to find the entrance located at the back of the building, as evidenced by my photo. I was also able to confirm that none of the doors were open, none of the lights were on, and there were no people inside. So no, it was not open at 1 pm on a Tuesday afternoon.

There is a bit of a walk to get up to the top but there is a really nice view. It was really cool to see all the places ive been while touring montreal. The walk back downt to one of the main streets isnt long, i walked through trails that went through a kind of forest and it was beautiful. If you love sight seeing and taking pictures this is a great place. It is a tourist attraction so there will be a lot of people so you might have to take a few moments to find a spot were you can get a clear view.

Wonderful way to spend a day, even the winter. We walked up from Peel Street. Quite a healthy climb, especially since it was just after a snowstorm. Beautiful views. I wish the amenities in the Chalet were more extensive - just the usual pop & snack machines, and a souvenir shop with the usual junk. What makes it, though, is the view. In the summer one can spend hours wandering through the park. Probably not the safest place at night, though.

Fantastic venue and wonderful views over the city. A real go to spot! The food was very authentic and not to my taste but what I did eat was well cooked and well prepared. The drinks were so unusual but really good and there were buckets of pork crackling with maple syrup that tasted incredible! The staff were brilliant and totally entertaining. One of the best nights I had in Montreal!

The view from the top of the mountain is stunning. But the coffee shop could use some improvements. The service is good but the coffee & hot cocoa were not impressive….

I got a mocha here but when I received it, it tasted mainly of chocolate with hardly any espresso in it. It appeared to be poured out of a blender. The staff didn’t seem to be the happiest but maybe it is because it is a touristy area and I ordered in English instead of French. Nice environment to drink coffee at though! (Sorry for not reviewing in French)

Just the perfect place for a Sunrise view and the park around is just very good for a bike ride or just a walk.

Great place to take a break from all morning hiking! Breathtaking skyline view from outside of the building, nice staff and good coffee, almost always come to visit here whenever I visit Montreal!

The Latte I got dose not taste good at all, seems like the expresso machine dose not work well or there is not enough coffee in the cup. I expect a decent coffee for $5 cup. The staff are very friendly, but seemed super busy.

Great spot to view Montreal skyline any time of the year! Food and drinks are available in the chalet. A clean toilette for men and women is also available in the basement.

A truly wonderful looking building with a second rate café stuck on the back! Seems pretty inappropriate…

This review is for the cafe. Of course the view is amazing but cafe terrible. Wait to get down the mountain for coffee. My petite cappuccino was terrible. Tastes like a single soupy shot rather than a double shot. Really terrible. Grounds were not washed out of the porta filter before being used again.

This is the place to be at in a sunny day. This place is amazing. You have amazing views of the city and they have a cafe where they serve amazing chocolate. It’s about a 10 walk from the parking lot to get here but it’s worth it. It also has great running trails.

I maybe a little confused but when I visited this location, there was only a "Cafe Des amis" in the back of the building, and that is what I am reviewing. To start, the service was good and fast 5/5. My biggest issue is with the water, the do not sell flat water unless you buy a souvenir cup (as you will see in the pictures)1/5. Bring bottled water with you, as the hike up is taxing.

Beautiful and convenient coffee shop with some foods. Very well located right over the Royal Mount top

  • 3/5 Cirrus S. 1 year ago on Google
This space could be better used. There is usually nothing here. The shop offers nothing and the cafe looks worse than a station buffet. This place should offer a simple bistro with nice seating and an interesting program. When I was there, this place offers only a few seats and nothing else. This place deserves more.

Small menu with all the most popular offerings. Coffee was tasty and reasonably priced. Most of all, it’s a nice warm place to relax a bit after walking up the steps.

Beautiful park, great walk up and an exceptional view of city at the belvedere. Chalet has bathroom facilities in the basement and the coffee shop is still open.

great rest spot after the hike up the stairs, and plenty of benches to sit and soak in the view, before/after you get a beverage from inside.

I love this place, you can warm up here after winter hiking, get some rest, use a toilet for free. Also there's a small cafe. Cozy and warm place💙

The view of the city is beautiful. You can spend a few minutes here just looking down on Montréal. Lots of people, parking close to Lac aux Castors/Beaver Lake was not completely full when we drove in around 11:30am on a Saturday. But it was closed when we left around 1:25pm.
