I
went
there
for
the
tasting
menu
with
wine
pairing
for
dinner
a
few
days
ago.
This
place
is
off
tangent
somehow.
It
positions
itself
as
a
cross
between
fine
dining
and
casual/more
warm
environment
(or
at
least
that's
what
I
saw
on
Netflix
when
they
interviewed
the
owner).
Food
was
mediocre
considering
the
price.
The
best
dish
was
the
kampachi,
and
it
went
downhill
from
there.
The
wine
pairing
was
very
badly
timed.
The
waitress
would
give
you
elaborate
details
on
the
wine,
but
poured
it
at
such
a
wrong
pace
that
you
sometimes
get
your
wine
10-15
minutes
before
the
dish.
There
were
times
my
glass
was
almost
done
when
the
dish
arrived
(or
the
champagne
fizzing
out).
In
most
restaurants,
they
would
top
up
your
glass,
but
not
here.
The
wine
portions
were
no
more
than
half
a
glass
anyway.
To
create
a
warmer/causal
environment,
the
chefs
work
in
an
open
kitchen
for
guests
to
see.
But
they
are
so
engrossed
in
their
craft
that
they
almost
never
interact
with
the
guest,
and
their
stern,
focused
faces
only
makes
the
atmosphere
more
sombere.
It
was
almost
as
if
you
would
disrupt
them
if
you
have
a
loud
laugh
with
friends.
I
tried
212
in
Amsterdam
and
that
is
an
example
of
what
a
successful
open
kitchen
is
like.
Getting
a
smile
out
of
the
waitress
was
as
tough
too.
They
went
about
their
work
like
robots.
Overall,
it's
too
expensive
(about
$500+
for
2)
for
casual,
but
doesn't
hit
the
mark
for
anything
extraordinary
it
was
trying
for.
