Excellent food. Attentive service. Comfortable atmosphere. This is truly a wonderful spot. We chose to sit at the bar to watch the magic in the kitchen happen. The kitchen staff were all very friendly and willing to share the secrets of their craft. The fixed menu was all fresh seafood and produce that were creative and elegant. We did the wine pairing and all the pairings, with the exception of the Italian red served with the trout, were perfect complements to the food (the red was fine by itself, it just didn't match the trout very well). I'd definitely return in another season to sample their menu again.

Ordered chef’s tasting menu kit for in home experience. Delicious and fun times spend. Easy instructions and food comes out great looking.

Disclaimer: I am an amateur fine dining fan at best, and this was my first true fine dining experience in SF. But as a rookie to the gastronomy scene, this movie was absolutely exceptional. The atmosphere is so serene, the service is fantastic (featuring detailed verbal descriptions before every new course), and the food is outstanding. I had the 7-course dinner, and although each portion was quite small, after all seven courses I was quite full. The wine menu is also remarkable. You really feel like you're dining in Brittany!

Came here for a special birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. Although a couple of dishes were not quite up to par (namely the good-but-not-great leeks and the thermally confused squash soup with mustard ice cream), they clearly take very creative risks in an effort to deliver the very best version that each combination of ingredients can offer. Two dishes that really stood out were the delectable squid ink boudin and the outright incredible and incomparable trout. Just ridiculously good. Service was outstanding, which you should expect from a Crenn restaurant. Highly recommend!

Unlike her flagship restaurant Atelier Crenn, Petit Crenn is focused on homestyle rustic cooking which mirrors the food chef Crenn grew up eating. Not fancy but the food here is absolutely delicious. The dishes here are simple in nature but are executed perfectly. The most surprising was the sourdough bread. Based on appearance it doesn’t look like anything special but after taking a bite into the bread I was completely blown away. Crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle I loved this bread so much. The peas also were a real standout. The quality of the ingredients really stand out and the mint was a nice compliment to the crispness of the peas. The grilled fish was also delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. If you like simple food where the ingredients really shine on their own then you will love it.

We love the more casual ambience of this restaurant. There were some great dishes (our favorite was the duck egg) and I especially appreciate the abundance of vegetables. If you are a meat eater, go somewhere else :) minus one star because some of the veggies (broccolini, radish with leaves) were super tough and fibrous that they were un-chewable. I get the farm-to-table thing, but perhaps a simple squeeze of the veggies will reveal whether they should indeed be served to humans

We have a fabulous evening. The food was fresh, unique, tasty and beautifully presented. We chose not to have the wine pairing but matched the food with a Cremant and then a lovely Chablis. This worked incredibly well. All in a very special dinner

Perfection. Best dining experience I've ever had. We booked seating at the counter but found the heat from the cooking apparatuses was high and we switched with a couple at the window who wanted the counter. Worked out for everyone. Take your time and savor every detail of flavour. All foods sustainably harvested. Waste is minimized. This restaurant is well thought out and operated seamlessly. Service from staff is like a choreographed performance. You gotta treat yourself like this at least once in your life. Indulge!

Went for their holiday special dinner set that's seafood based. They had us sit by the wall on the counter-top table facing the kitchen. Its nice but every time they tried to hand us the plates it forced us to move a bit. So with a 7 course dinner set that's a lots of moving to make way for them to loud our dishes on the table. Regarding there dishes, maybe its just the way how French dishes are and everyone have their own opinions but the dishes are a bit heavy on the sour side. For a nice restaurant like this you would assume maybe the still-water they serve will a dash of lemon to being out the freshness but there isn't. Just regular water. Over all this a nice clean and unique experiences ad I don't normally eat French cuisine.

San Francisco is one of the few cities to set boats restaurants with Michelin stars I live in New Orleans we’re food is a big part of the culture but it’s never particularly great or varied how thrilling it was for me then to find an old-school wonderful French restaurant with such creative thinking and perfect delivery And not too fussy I look forward to returning to The City for a wonderful meal with a fried. C’est tres Cher. But so interesting. And it’s OK if you don’t drink, I don’t drink and never feel like I need to drink when I’m having wonderful food.

I went there for the tasting menu with wine pairing for dinner a few days ago. This place is off tangent somehow. It positions itself as a cross between fine dining and casual/more warm environment (or at least that's what I saw on Netflix when they interviewed the owner). Food was mediocre considering the price. The best dish was the kampachi, and it went downhill from there. The wine pairing was very badly timed. The waitress would give you elaborate details on the wine, but poured it at such a wrong pace that you sometimes get your wine 10-15 minutes before the dish. There were times my glass was almost done when the dish arrived (or the champagne fizzing out). In most restaurants, they would top up your glass, but not here. The wine portions were no more than half a glass anyway. To create a warmer/causal environment, the chefs work in an open kitchen for guests to see. But they are so engrossed in their craft that they almost never interact with the guest, and their stern, focused faces only makes the atmosphere more sombere. It was almost as if you would disrupt them if you have a loud laugh with friends. I tried 212 in Amsterdam and that is an example of what a successful open kitchen is like. Getting a smile out of the waitress was as tough too. They went about their work like robots. Overall, it's too expensive (about $500+ for 2) for casual, but doesn't hit the mark for anything extraordinary it was trying for.

All around five star experience. We walked in on a weeknight at around 5:30 and the place was kind of empty, so we luckily snatched two seats at the bar. It was interesting watching them make our food and let me tell you the head chef was intense, in a good way for me, not so much for the line cooks. EVERYTHING was delicious. The final dish on the tasting menu with the carrot sorbet was an interesting flavor that i have never had. it started out questionable but once all the flavors came together, it was like a party in my mouth. I so loved our experience and can't wait to go back again. This is probably the best value you can get for the price from a michelin 3 star restauranteur.

Came here after watching the Chef's Table episode on Dominique Crenn. Quaint, understated venue seating no more than 30 people and a full team of wait and kitchen staff. Our main waitress was pleasantly unpretentious and all were attentive and knowledgeable. We got a seat up at the bar which was cool because we could watch the chefs preparing the food with a lot of focus, professionalism and care. This is one of the few times I've enjoyed French food without feeling sick because the food is too rich. There was a great balance of flavours and richness was not overdone at all. My favourite dishes were the kampachi (yellowtail) crudo and the dessert which was an almond tart with lemon curd, Clementine and cardamom ice cream. So delicious! Would recommend for anyone looking for an unpretentious fine dining experience without paying exorbitant amounts (depending on your definition of exorbitant... We paid US$250 including a 20% tip for 2 people)
