The crab soup was surprisingly good. My wife enjoyed the clam chowder as well. And my daughter loved her tomato bisque. All the soups were good. The bread was sourdough but not the kind that has to prove itself to you by tasting like a straight lemon died inside. Just a slight sourdough flavor, very pleasant. The location is good and large enough to seat a lot of people. The wait staff was attentive and nice. We'd go back here for sure if we were visiting San Francisco again.

Such a cool place! It was very crowded and busy when we went, but service was still friendly and quick. Recommend their bread bowls if you’re going to eat there! The clam chowder bread bowl was good, and we also got a turtle loaf (so cute). The building is set up great, you can watch bread transported around in baskets on a conveyor belt, and they have all sorts of bread creations to try. The best part is going up their stairs and onto the observation deck they have above their workings who are making and baking the dough. It is fascinating to watch the machinery and all that they do. It doesn’t open until 12 though.

It was my first time trying the bread bowls and they are fantastic. Big portions so it is good value for the price. Restaurant has a nice view to the bay, indoor and outdoor sitting. Vegetarian /meatless options available. I visited on a Saturday and it was a bit crowded.

Fantastic food and service. The crab cake sandwich, crab and corn bisque (in a bread bowl, of course) and the crab mac and cheese were superb. The wine selection was great too. The menu has something for everyone. Our table had a great view and our waiter was so friendly and super attentive despite it being very busy. 100/10 experience!

Great place for lunch! The sourdough was unbelievably delicious. My boyfriend had the clam chowder and said it was good, but not the best he had tried in SF. They give you free bread and whipped butter which was a nice touch. They also have an area upstairs where you can watch the bread making magic happen. Gets very busy but we only had to wait 5 minutes before we were seated at a table. Very enjoyable.

Amazing restaurant/ bakery. Big variety of dishes and sandwiches and great sourdough. The outdoor seating area is lovely, but it can get very busy with long queues.

Yum the restaurant was great! We all had soup in a bread bowl and they were all delicious! We ordered the crab, spinach and artichoke dip and all of it was super! We also had the crab cake with corn and gelato. They were packed but still managed to get us in and out and we didn’t have to wait long for anything. If you go I recommend you do an early lunch or dinner to avoid the meal time crowd. Don’t forget to stop in the bakery for you loaf of sour dough bread!

We were told this was a great place to try. So we stopped in one day. We got seated right away and had a great seat overlooking the bay. The atmosphere was great. Clean. The food was delicious, and the drinks were great. For the most part, the staff was friendly. Our waiter started out friendly but then just seemed to be annoyed. I'm not sure what happened to him. The bread animals they make are super cute, I would have gotten one to go if we weren't on vacation.

One of their most popular dishes is clam chowder! Tasty and filling! You can also order from the variety of sourdough bread options. I tried the clam chowder for the first time and can still remember the creamy texture! My friend ordered a breakfast waffle while I picked up a root beer to go with it.

The clam chowder was average. Had better in other restaurant along big sur. But the bread dough for pulled pork, pizza and beef roast sandwich were good. Staff was friendly overall. Food was served quickly. Queue to order was also fast moving.

Such a cool bakery to visit if you have the time in San Francisco. From the fun shaped loaves, to the good coffee, they have a nice place to relax and see a staple of the bay. They are a bit more on the pricey side for bread, but it is as you would expect for a very touristy area. Would recommend to check it out if you are in SF for the first time !

This is a great place for having food or fresh pastry. We came to grab a cup of coffee with a sweet bite. The place was filled with people but not particularly crowded. We ordered a latte and two slices of cake: lemon and berry. The order was fulfilled fast, we took the stuff and sat outside at one of many tables. It was a pleasure to enjoy the coffee with a view towards coming and going ferries. The pastry was very tasty, especially the berry one. We totally paid around 15 usd for everything. I can totally recommend the place, pleasant experience, prices are very affordable.

Pretty decent experience at Boudin. Of course, the bread is wonderful. Highly recommend the crab and corn chowder. The Caesar salad was ok; chicken could have used a bit more flavor. The kids Mac and cheese was fairly bland. The burger was cooked to my partner’s liking but she wasn’t blown away.

I came here on 7/23/22 and it was delicious! I got a roast beef sandwich which was filling. My parents got a steak sandwich and a clam chowder soup in a bread bowl and they loved it. And my sister got a pizza which was delicious!! I also enjoyed the museum on the top floor. Overall, I loved this place and would definitely recommend it to anyone coming to San Francisco!

What an absolute hidden gem! Amazing food and fabulous service, we had the garlic bread and moules marniere apertiser followed by the ribeye steak sandwich, margarita pizza and the shrimp pasta dish. All the dishes were well received by all. The food was well presented, very tasty and reasonably priced. Definitely worth trying. Highly recommended.

Definitely the best place to stop for a bite while at the wharf! We walked upstairs to the Bistro to enjoy a sit down meal (no wait at all). We started with the sourdough garlic bread (even though they give you a cone of sourdough bread to snack on). The buttery seasoned flavor or the garlics bread was out of this world!! Absolutely amazing flavor!!! Then we enjoyed a bowl of tomato bisque (not in bread bowl), a salmon blt, and spicy chicken sandwich. All of the food was delicious! The tomato bisque was absolutely incredible! The salmon was cooked perfectly- and the spicy chicken was just the right amount of spice without killing the flavor. The view was fantastic. Definitely recommend taking some time to sit down upstairs and enjoy a nice meal! The sourdough bread really truly something special!!!

Came to enjoy the one of a kind Boudin sourdough bread. I recommend eating at the restaurant upstairs than at the bistro on the ground level. The bistro is quite busy and difficult to get a seat with the crowd. At the restaurant you will find more solace and space. There is also a full service bar in the restaurant upstairs. Our experience was wonderful! They accommodated seating for us in the outside patio upon request. The server Carla was very attentive and super friendly. Even the mask she was wearing couldn't hide the wonderful smile she had. The price is a bit on the high side but well worth the experience. Food was great. You can even checkout the bakers making their bread. Remember go upstairs!

We shared a clam chowder outside on the patio. It was very good. You have 2 seating/eating options here. The cafe/outside patio or a restaurant upstairs. The cafe menu is smaller but perfect for lunch. You can skip the lines by ordering at the self-serve kiosk.

Their soup bowls are not just hype; the sourdough bread bowl soup was simply fantastic. My family and I enjoyed the freshly made bread bowl, which had a nice, fluffy top and a crusty, crunchy outside. The clam, tomato, and crab soup had a delightful flavor combination that made perfect sense. However, I do wish they had more vegetarian options beyond just tomato-based soups; adding a mushroom option would be a great idea. The line was quite long, especially on the weekend, but we received our food fairly quickly. The place was buzzing with people, and despite that, I will definitely come back here on my next trip to SFO.

We were at the sit down section at the upper area, it looked busy so glad we made a booking before going. It's definitely a visit if you are a fan of sourdough bread and pizza. We also tried the local favourite clam chowder bowl which was delicious. Lively atmosphere and helpful staff!

This place is amazing. We ate on the balcony upstairs, looking at the water. Great atmosphere on a picture perfect day. We were on the road for business and stopped to see some sites on the way, and we are glad we did. I had the spicy chicken sandwich and fries. Nice spice, good sandwich and excellent fries. The habanero dressing is great. My honey had the spinach artichoke dip, and she loved it. Our friend had the bread bowl of chowder, and let’s just say he didn’t leave anything. They start you out with their famous sourdough bread, and I’m telling you, that stuff is addictive. If you’re in the area, don’t skip this place.

The food is great, we came for breakfast every day. They got nice coffee and a great selection of breakfast. When ordering the breakfast muffin I was expecting some fast food style bun. But it was a huge portion and super delicious and fresh. The morning bun ist great and so are the waffles. I highly recommend this place. We sat outside in the sun and there is a little fireplace in the wall. The bread is great as well and very beautiful and you can watch the bakers from outside making tortoise and teddy bear shaped bread.

After reading about this famous San Francisco bakery we decided to try it. We ordered a clam chowder soup, which was good. The sourdough bread was fresh and delicious. We also ate a almond croissant, good but nothing super special. Unfortunately, there were out of the animal breads my kids wanted to eat

Delicious!!!! Perfect spot to enjoy the view with a delicious clam chowder or lobster bisque (like the picture I’m sharing) Their grilled cheese sandwich is delicious too! What can I say? Worth the trip to enjoy great sourdough bread.

Nice to be able to skip the chaos of the cafe downstairs and enjoy a nice casual sit down meal overlooking the pier for lunch. I ordered the pork chop with green beans and gruyere potatoes. So yummy! Loved the mustard relish/gravy it was paired with. You can’t go to boudin’s with out ordering the sourdough bread bowl and clam chowder. This time we ordered the kids bread bowl and it came in the shape of a turtle. Super cute for the kids to enjoy. The clam chowder lacked flavor and a bit disappointing. Service could have been more attentive, kept having to remind our waiter to bring our drinks and to refill waters but understandable as it was right in the middle of busy lunch hour. Fun tourist experience to do at least once while visiting. Wished the bakery tour was fully open, partially closed still due to COVID.

Fantastic! I have visited the bakery a few times and indulged in the heavenly clam chowder before. This was our first time to visit the upstairs restaurant. Menu is unbelievably diverse and has anything you would need. Of course we had to get the clam chowder in the sourdough bread bowl. The goat cheese appetizer is to die for, definitely order that as a starter.

The garlic bread was lacking in flavor. The pizza was terrific, but our waiter messed up that order even after double-checking our order. The crab mack and cheese could have used more cheese flavor, but it was good at not overpowering the crab. All in all, I'd suggest eating at the cafe vs. the restaurant because it's much cheaper and not worth the added expense.
