I must say WOW. This place was so busy when I sat down and they still managed to fill my hot tea every time my cup was empty. They payed attention and made sure you’re well taken care of. The sushi is incredible… order from their special menu. It’s authentic sushi and you can taste it. おいしかったです!

The vibe here is really cool. There's a DJ and the service and atmosphere are really fun. The sushi is decent but not great, so I would rate it 4/5 at best. Fun place.

Maybe I am just hitting the lottery or SF is really that good with food choices. This place the ambiance is amazing with the piano sitting in the middle. Service is impeccable and the sushi is amazing. Just be prepared for massive lines and long waits. But if you eat during senior citizen hours like me.... It's fine

Great vibe but food needs improvement. We had sushi rolls and they were not bad..that’s it not good just not bad. Small portions, nothing that can surprise you. Deep fried oysters were tasteless, I can’t recommend them but miso soup was the best I ever had. I am just surprised how entire sushi bar is operated by 2 guys…what a speed.

Great underground restaurant. Came here for soft shell crab, which doesn't seem to be common in the city. Did not disappoint! Also got chicken karaage that was incredibly juicy and good. Rolls were solid, although I'm not a sushi connisour so can't say how they are in comparison to other places. They had some pretty interesting rolls like salmon skin that was pretty solid. Very underground and nice atmosphere. Service was solid as well. Was not too busy when I went Tuesday night.

Great location and food! The restaurant had a great bar vibe. Fantastic flavors and options to choose from. We had the Big Mama roll, the Jumling Unagi (delish), the California Roll and the Alcatraz. Everything was great! Prices were good too! Second time here and will definitely come again.

Really fresh and tasty sushi, and good value too. The soft shell crab and the octopus appetisers were so good I’d say they’re a must. We tried a few rolls and they were all amazing, probably my favourite was the salmon skin one. Dessert was interesting, but too sweet for me. Service was good and fairly quick. The music was too loud and felt too party-like for a sushi dinner.

OMG! Amazing! Recommended bar hotel bartender where I stayed. Decided to check it out on first night after a couple rounds of drinks. The wait was expected, not bad. The owl tree across the street allowed to kill the time. Enjoyed the live music first of all. The beef teriyaki was amazing and did 2 rounds of it (or was I just hungry?). Shrimp and veggies tempura was delicious as well. Had a round of shrimp roll with cold sake It’s a little gem that’s for sure.

Ryoko's is a fantastic Sushi spot! It has intimate, speakeasy vibes, incredibly friendly staff, quick service and an excellent sushi and sake selections. The food and drink are always fresh and delicious while still being reasonably priced. This place is definitely worth a visit!

Highly recommend! A friend of mine posted a reel of this place on Instagram, and I saved it for my next trip to SF. I went when they opened at 6 and it’s down the stairs in a basement. The music was a lot of throwback hip-hop which was pretty cool! Had a few items - hot tuna roll, 49ers roll, salmon skin hand roll, and isaki sashimi. All delicious!!

When you love sushi and eat it all the time pretty much wherever you travel...this place exceeded my expectations for a fabulous San Francisco sushi restaurant. I had the Chirashi and it did not disappoint! Chef's choice and it was far more than the usual 5 sashimi's that are normally served. Kudos to the sushi chef for the creativity!

Ask them to make a sashimi dinner for you. It was awesome. They tell you what to eat, how to eat and in what order with or without soy sauce. Delicious! Friendly, fast service.

The food was absolutely delicious. The waitress was fun and attentive. She made suggestions on dishes and the best ways to eat them as well as suggestions on new drinks which were delicious. The restaurant was darker and had a more intimate feel to it. My only criticism is they do not have the capacity to accommodate a large group comfortably. We had a large group and were seated in a small room with a small fan. The fan did nothing and it became hot and uncomfortable quickly. With a small group, I would have no complaints. Highly recommend.

Awesome sushi spot! The cocktail list was so fun and delicious. The sushi rolls were fresh and they were decently sized. We also got our food super fast. This place definitely feels like a hole in the wall which was so cool. I can’t wait to come back!

Loved my experience, definitely hope to be back! I know "sushi dive" may not appeal to everyone, but the food was amazing, service outstanding and I adore the atmosphere. Had the Tahoe roll with Asahi and edamame. Anywhere I can get tuna and Dr. Dre like that, I'm a big fan

My last dinner in SF before flying out tomorrow morning. We were looking for good food and decided on Ryoko’s after doing some searches. It was a good decision! Had the rainbow row and chicken karage and the amount was just right. Both dishes are excellent.

I went in late and sat at the bar. The staff were very helpful and immediately asked if I’d like something to drink. The food came quickly and tasted fresh. Only reason for 4 stars is that the presentation was a little sloppy and you don’t get a lot of food for what you pay. If you’re charging $24 a roll, that roll better fill you up like an entree.

This place is highly recommended and for good reason. The food is EXCELLENT and so is the service. I see others have mentioned portion sizes and I was slightly disappointed with the size of my (delicious) Rainbow roll. The ambiance is like a club, which is mentioned in most reviews as being a positive thing. I would have preferred a little less volume (so I wouldn't have to yell across the table) but we were very close to the bar. If I went again I'd ask for their quietest table. The ladies room was very disappointing. You'd think that a $$$ restaurant would have a lovely restroom but the t.p. holder was broken and gross. I liked the black and green color scheme but it seems that not much attention has been paid to this room.

Super cool restaurant. Eat delicious sushi while you listen to live dj, what's better than that? I highly recommend rainbow roll. And my fav spicy scallop roll

Let me start saying the hostess/service is super friendly. The food, atmosphere, everything was amazing. Besides from having sushi in Japan, this place hits the spot. It is a walk-in distance from union square. You can add your name to the wait-list on Yelp. I am not sure if this is a post-COVID thing, but it was quite hard to find a place that stays open late, but Ryoko closes late. They also had a DJ when I visited and it made dinner even more enjoyable. I ordered the Jumping veggie and the shrimp tempura and it was amazing. Edited: Went back for a second night and it even better. If you like sushi, please go there.

Loved the vibe here, it was underground and had a DJ with a nightclub feel. Delicious Sake, sushi portions were quite small and did not offer wild salmon for the price; however, the atmosphere was what would have us recommending this place to everyone.

This place is a really cool spot for good food and better vibes! It’s pretty hidden being that it is underground and has a dj at dinner playing lots of fun music. The food took a little while to come because they were really busy, but it was definitely worth the wait! Everything has such a rich taste and great combination of flavors. You can tell the food is really fresh here and they give proper portions. Highly recommend for a fun night out with drinks and food!
