It felt inevitable. No matter how good or bad it looked, or felt, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to feel like I “did” San Francisco without a visit to La Taqueria, or as I jokingly titled it, La Overrated. I arrived at ten of eleven, which is when they opened, and got in the already brewing line. After waiting outside for about fifteen minutes, I ordered. The restaurant was surprisingly mellow, and the prices weren’t bad. The tacos weren’t amazing, but were good, and the guacamole was decent. It doesn’t live up to the hype, but it’s not bad. Anyways, I’m really tired so I’m keeping this review brief. Rating: 8/10 Adjusted Rating: 7/10

I came here because of a friend recommendation and my expectations were met. Got the best burrito carne asada I have ever had, juicy with balanced taste of beans, avocado and the beef, a bit spicy, still compact, oh so good. The logistic was excellent, and I got the food very fast, everyone working here was very friendly and inclusive and the restaurant itself, although small, had a very nice vibe. This is the place I will come back again.

You'll find this spot as soon as you notice the waiting line outside. It's the same line for both to-go and to dine in. That said, it's a well-oiled establishment so the wait was very minimal (~15mins) on a Sunday at noon. The tacos themselves are good and come out pretty quickly. It's a decent SF must-do checklist item that I think is worth it, since it gives you a reason to explore the rest of the Mission district. Probably better for smaller groups of 2-4.

Excellent tasting veggie tacos and guacamole. The line was a bit long but it moved fast and I was able to sit inside and eat. Their spicy green salsa at the table adds a nice hot and spicy flavor.

I was visiting SF a while ago and was looking for a good Mexican place. La Taqueria didn't disappoint. We ordered the Super Veggie Taco and Carnitas burrito and some chips with guacamole and salsa. There was a huge queue at lunchtime to enter this place. The place is a regular small dine in. It's well maintained. The service is quick and orderly. The food is simple, tasty and absolutely absolutely fresh. They also have a spicy green salsa as a side which is yumm. The options are limited but good. This place has a simple no nonsense vibe to it! All in all, you must definitely check this place out.

Solid burritos and chip+salsa. Loved the salsa verde on the table too. Very fresh guac! Came on a Sunday at noon and was seated within 10min. Would recommend calling in ahead and just picking up if it’s a very busy time (lunch for example).

Fast, delicious and affordable. I ordered the vegetarian burrito. Their burritos are filling, yet very light and fresh tasting. Do you know how some burritos are very heavy and greasy while others are "healthy" and super light? Well this one is the perfect in between balance. Ask for the spicy salsa, it's not too spicy and will add a flavor twist to your order! The overall flavor isn't mind blowing or like flavor bending but it is tasty and something more of a homemade meal. Also you don't need cash, you can pay with card and there is limited options so you don't need to be extra here - in the description of the restaurant it says "no frills" and they mean it!

Atmosphere: Latino street food Service: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Drinks: - Value for money: 5/5 A friend recommended this place as the kingdom of Mexican food bcs they have "the best SF quintessential mission-style burrito". Even before 12 there was a line at the entrance: good sign! :) I ordered a burrito, the one out of the menu since apparently is the most wanted. You can order both in English and Spanish, that makes it even more an authentic place. It's possible to take away and having a table inside: I have a sit inside and in 3 minutes I'm picking up my burrito from the counter. It's indeed delicious. 16$ tip included and the Mexican songs on the speaker made my lunch just magic.

Excellent tacos and ingredients. Tasty and spicy hot sauce. Legit top shelf SF bites. My locals know the stops and mine introduced me to these choices: tacos vs burritos. This is an awesome taqueria called 'La Taqueria'. No mistake.

Very good burrito comparing with other places. It is usually busy and you will need to wait outside first. Once they have available seats, you will pay and get in. It will take about 5-10 minutes to get your food after you order and pay. There is a nice option: you can ask them to make the wrapper grilled so it is kind of crispy.

La Taqueria is definitely a legend in San Francisco for authentic Mexican street food. We visited on a weekday for lunch, there was a line but the wait wasn’t too bad since everyone dined quickly. We got their Asada Super Taco, Beef Head Burrito and Carnitas Quesadilla with corn tortilla to share with a group of two. The price is kind of high but the portion was quite great and we even couldn’t finish them all. It’s overall delicious but not impressively good or maybe we had such high expectations. Both pork & beef were flavorful and tender but the beef head was chewy which is not recommended.

This has got to be one of the best tacos I have had. Full of flavour and generous portions. Tried their dorado style tacos and it was out of this world. Also tried their fresh strawberry drink and it was awesome!

There is a continuous line out the door for a reason; these tacos are incredible. Large and loaded with deliciously seasoned grilled meats, Pico de Gallo, and salsa. Today I had my first experience and it won't become my last!

I’m just astounded by how good the food tasted… the chicken burrito tasted like it has chicken thigh, but even the lean meat melts in your mouth. as for the quesadilla, the tortilla is has a perfect crispness, and it’s the best carnitas I’ve had as well🤯 how could everything all go so right at the same time

If you see a line out the door don't panic, they are fast and effective at taking your order and getting your food order done within minutes without loosing the taste or quality of their food. This place has been around for over 20 years and is still packing out the door, if you are ever in south sfo, I recommend their. Hicken quesadillas with flour tortillas, so delicious and their tacos are absolutely worth making the drive!

My taste buds must had changed, I used to loved La Taqueria but today I found my burrito to be too salty, the meats flavor didn’t jump out. Also my burrito feel smaller than I remembered. The folk that work there are still friendly and right on top of everything, including clean tables were always available.

Extremely popular so be prepared to wait in line if you're going on a weekend. It's a great relatively inexpensive option for vegetarians. The crowd moves fast since they get the food out quickly. Definitely try the quesadillas and/or the burrito (always get the super option since they add sour cream and guac I think). One super burrito is usually good for 1 person. Seating is present but limited.

Love this place. Make sure you ask for your burrito "dorado" so they crisp it up. The tongue is also low key excellent, never had it prepared the way they serve it, almost carnitas-like. I first came here on a visit six years ago and have frequently dreamed of getting a burrito again, so glad to return and it's still as good as I remember.

The experience and service were overall good but the food was mediocre. I went there on a Sunday morning around 11:45, and there was no line to get in. I got two carnitas tacos, and upon ordering, they told me the tacos came with beans and Pico. I said it was ok thinking they'd be on the side. Speaking as a Mexican from Mexico city that grew up in Socal, I was unimpressed by a few things. First, I don't think their tortillas are fresh. It seems that they use prepackaged tortillas from the grocery store. On top of that, the tortillas were slightly cold. Secondly, they put beans and pico de gallon IN the taco, but give no limes, cilantro or onions (I didn't ask, but also didn't see them anywhere). The meat was already dry, and the beans just made the taco drier. It didn't make sense to me that they would even think to put the beans in the tacos. The Pico was just ok, and the salsa was not very flavorful. Overall I was disappointed with the food, and I did not think it was worth 10 dollars plus tip. I don't think this restaurant deserves the hype it gets. I haven't tried the burritos, and I'm thinking that's probably what people regularly order, but I think that if a restaurant has a 4.6 on Google, I can reasonably expect all of its food to be a 4.6, not just one item.

Best in San Francisco. Fresh ingredients and nice size portions. Order and pay at the door. Dine at handcrafted leather stools and wood tables.

Best burrito in San Francisco. No rice inside - but incredibly delicious comfort food. Remember to get it toasted!

La Taqueria's Amazing Burrito La Taqueria serves the best burrito I've ever had. I'm usually not a big fan of burritos, but this place changed my mind. Their burritos are lighter because they don't add rice. My favorite is the vegetarian super burrito, made el dorado style. This means they toast it on both sides, which makes the cheese really melty and delicious. Even Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight agrees, rating La Taqueria's burrito as the best in America. I definitely agree with them!
