Opps. Unfortunately, everyone in my party got sick last night. I think something was rancid in whatever was used to prepare our food. Our server was nice but very new and dropped his utensil on the ground many times (but disappeared to 'clean them' ) All 4 guests had major food poisoning. 1st time in over 10 years of coming here for birthdays and random friend outings. Was a very expensive $400+ sickfest.

This place is very popular, and for good reason. The chefs are entertaining, the food is delicious, you get huge portion sizes, and the atmosphere is lively. If you go around dinner time, you may have to wait a bit before a table is available. We grabbed some drinks at the bar until our entire party got there and then enjoyed a really nice meal.

Had a wonderful experience here thanks to our chef Ladarius for staying and cooking late for us.

Made me miss being served at home and I got it to go 🙄 I ordered chicken and shrimp for two which supposedly came with all the trimmings? Well mine came without the soup…it wasn’t even included 😲I caught the bus because it was close and I needed to walkabout anyway; so I couldn’t go right back…And I later learned that I had to request the infamous “shrimp sauce” and pay for it too! Why??? Definitely gon hit up Osaka or Benihana’s whenever I get back home. #Homesick

Situated in Japan Center Mall, Excellent 1st time experience in Japanese foods. Ordered for a lunch set for sir 8 pertains. The lunch was really very good with 6 course. Were served with onion and mushroom soup, salad, spicy chicken, spicy shrimp, Sushi, chicken fried rice and ice cream. Taste was superb, chef was superb, spicy chicken fried rice was made infront of us which was an experience. Would definitely recommend friends to this restaurant.

loved the experience of a chef cooking in front of u, although it did feel uncomfortable at times with other strangers there. I suggest u go there w a large group otherwise they're just gonna seat u w complete strangers and I personally don't enjoy being super social but still a good experience.

I was extremely disappointed at my experience at this Benihana location. As a Benihana connoisseur and someone who has been to locations all over the US, this was by far my worst experience. For starters our reservation was at 9:15 and we arrived at 9:10. The restaurant was almost empty due to them closing at 10. Despite the low occupancy, we waited over 50 minutes for the chef to begin cooking the food. We placed our orders and ordered the usual meal that comes with steamed rice, onion soup, salad, and ice cream. The chef begins cooking the food and barely used any seasoning or garlic butter. I understand Cali is health conscious but in the south we season our food. They can take notes from the Benihana in Atlanta and Florida. The chef gets done with our food and my friend and I didn’t have any rice. We call the waiter over and he’s like “oh you ordered rice?” At MINIMUM the meals come with steamed white rice. The waiter and my friend even had a conversation about her not needing chicken in her rice because her meal came with chicken and steak. We ask to speak to the manager and he seemed very uninterested in our experience. By this point the restaurant is closed and I’m sure everyone is ready to go home. The manager brings rice from the back that he stated is made every hour for to go orders. So basically you just gave us rice that has been sitting there. The rice was luke warm and gummy. Overall the experience was unsatisfactory and it is truly unfortunate because I love Benihana.

Bad service. Waited for 1 hr and 40 minutes for lunch boat order. Everyone around me got their food, and I didn’t get any, so I asked the waiter what was wrong with my order and tried to yell at me to wait. Poor at everything. The worst experience.

Stumbled upon this place by coincidence, but what an experience! Our chef was first-class (his name was Rex, if you are appointed to him, you are in for a treat). A young talented cook who put on a real show and was super friendly as well. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. I was a bit surprised to see that the overall review is only 3.9 stars, this should be way higher! The waiters were very attentive and friendly, checking upon our table regularly. Admitted, the prices our a bit high, but given the service and high-quality food, what you pay is what you get. If you visit a place like this in Belgium, you'll pay way more for way less. 5 stars, all the way! Don't let other reviews tell you otherwise. Should I ever be back in San Fran, would definitely visit this place again

There was a wait even though we had a reservation. When we sat down, there was a wait to getting started on our food and drinks. Our chef messed up the tricks a couple of times but was really friendly and entertaining. The food was great and the place has a nice environment. Excellent place for a group meal and an entertaining cooking.

Extremely bad experience. Our appointment was 12.15, we were in the waiting area for 45 minutes at 1PM. And the chef came to the table at 2 PM and we received the food at 2.30. Totally disappointed in their service. Our server was okay, but they were really understaffed or incompetent or both. The worse part was the hibachi chef Javier. He looked totally disinterested and was just very mechanical. No interaction, no playful talk or anything. Not at all living up to the legacy. Total waste of time. Also, food was strictly average and terribly overpriced. Avoid.

Benihana is a must at least once. The food preparation is a real show and the center of the experience. The food was good and the grumpy family that was sat at the table with us provided added entertainment for us. Deducting one star for food quality/price ratio and another for poor hygiene in the restrooms.

The food was delicious (including the soup, the lemonade, the vegetables, etc.), the chef (Mario) was very nice and the experience was, as you would expect, memorable. However, even considering all this, the prices are way too high. If you want the experience and the taste, you will not be let down. Whether it's worth it, however, is up to you.

Fun experience, it's a show! A bit tacky, but still worth it. Fried rice is really tasty, and everything else is good quality... Make reservations, or plan on waiting a long time.

We opted to sit in the non-habachi area. We waited about an HOUR for our food after ordering. I got a beer comped for the long wait, which was cool. The food was great, but the cleanliness was subpar. Maybe come here for lunch...

We made a reservation and still waited to be seated for 45 minutes. Then waited for another hour for a chef to show up by our table while "enjoying" onion soup with 3 chunks of mushrooms and primarily iceberg salad with a couple of tomatoes. The best thing I got was Asahi draft beer. We couldn't breathe burned oil fumes any longer, requested a check and left 5 minutes before the chef finally came out of the kitchen. Never coming back to this place.

It was my husband and I first time going to Benihana. We loved it! Our cook was Erin he doesn't just cook good food, but he has a great sense of giving a joke to make more the table more fun. He also gives a little bit of tricks to have the show a bit more creative which is great! Keep doing the great job! Lastly, we both love it when he cook the food with smile and joy, even though he was wearing a mask! Just imagin cooking with a mask on and infront of the stove also talking at the same time enternaing people! Thank you Benihana and Erin for the great experience. Happy to be a returning customer next time.

Absolutely disappointed and disgusted with Beninhana...I ordered $211 worth of food today on MOTHER'S DAY directly from Beninhana NO middle service but from Beninhana... Completely messed up our order and sent us a $67 order instead. When called and asked about the mess up, the guy says will refund you. I said that's nice but what about the dinner I ordered? Are you gonna bring us our correct order? He repeats no no will refund you and hangs up. First off, how do I know I'm getting refunded correctly when your hanging up in my face 2. Someone that spent $67 got $211 worth of food 3. but 3 and most importantly.... WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO ABOUT DINNER FOR MY MOTHER and family ON MOTHER'S DAY... i get mistakes happen but to spend $211 and on mother's day and to get treated with such disrespect AND left with no food on such a day is unbelievable and completely disgusting on your guy's behalf 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 By the way read the complaint under mine... OUR orders got mixed up... so he's telling the truth rude and disrespectful... I'm with you Jesse Beninhana lost my respect and future service

We came for our anniversary and it was the best experience we’ve had at dinner! Shawn was our cook and he was the best. He was so nice and very funny and the food he cooked tasted beyond words! If you go here I hope you get to have Shawn as your cook he definitely made this an experience we will never forget.

So much fun for a special occasion and one of the few SF places that you can get a party of 8-10 together for a reservation. Tasty food, and while a bit overpriced, you’re also paying for a bit of entertainment Service was very good, both by the chef and the waiter. They both seemed to enjoy their job and wanted to give our party a great experience. We all had a lovely time and will be back Tip: You can actually get Shrimp Fried Rice! We thought it was only chicken or veggie, but it’s also an option

So I used to love this place but after currently being 1 hour and 28 minutes in to my reservation and having seen no chef am very unhappy. Not only that but the manager tried to tell me that I’d really only been here for 58 minutes! A lie but my god not something to be proud of. Then asked for a free drink and was told that is impossible and was offered the cheapest thing on the menu as a “sorry” which I refused to take and then was offered another cheapest item menu to take off my bill. Truly could not imagine worse service at a place that is meant to bring joy. Will no longer be going which is a shame considering I used to all the time

Food and show still good and engaging yet as many businesses these days, there are struggles. So being patient (and informed) is important. (-) immediately upon being seated, we were asked for our drink and appetizer order. Given we hadn't looked at the menu yet, this felt rushed and unrealistic. (-) Menu was online only through a QR code. This can slow down getting kids' orders. Also, seasonal specials were not available. Online menus should be easier to update. This too slows down ordering and can be improved (+) They took great care with food allergies. (+) Food was cooked well and show as entertaining as before Sharing tables with others in close proximity, may not feel as comfortable since you are unmasked within a couple of feet of someone. That said, they are checking for vaccine cards before entry Overall, good to be back. Hope above guides your decision and experiences.

Not as crowded as I expected for a Sunday night before Halloween. I loved the hibachi steak with an extra shrimp appetizer and upgraded to the spicy chicken fried rice. Yum! There were 6 of us, even with drinks and tip it came in less than $600.
