Updated review 2/5/2022: We love coming to Thanh Thanh Cafe because they open early at 9:30am. That's cool because we tend to ride our bicycles early and we don't have to ride down to the lower avenues on Clement to get a hot bowl of noodles for breakfast. Indoor dining is finally re-opened! No more sitting out in the cold at their single sidewalk table. For breakfast, we had the beef noodles $12, sate pho $12 and imperial rolls $8. Everything tasted great. The staff is friendly and gave the children candy after our meals. The bonus is, there's a popcorn chicken place next door with boba/fruit drinks. 23rd avenue is closed off to car traffic and Thanh Thanh is right there. Their noodles are something we look forward to during our ride. I'm so full now, I need to take a nap. Updated review 10/2/2021: There was a crowd in front of Thanh Thanh Cafe around noon today. It took them about 15 minutes to make my combo sandwich. We were going to eat at their single table outside like usual but it was too crowded. We ended up biking to the Marina Greens and enjoyed our sandwich there. The bread was soft with a crispy crust. Plenty of meats and Vietnamese vegetables inside. Too bad we were too far from Thanh Thanh Cafe at that point, because I really would have loved to get another sandwich. Original review: Brunch at Thanh Thanh is always a treat. They used to open earlier at 9am. Now they are open at 9:30am. Indoor dining is still not available yet. The young waiter does not anticipate opening for indoor dining anytime soon. They did add one single table for outdoor dining. We had a Vietnamese coffee, spring rolls and pho. The only drawback is they served it in to-go containers even though we were dining there. At least this time we didn't have to resort to eating at a neighbor restaurant's parklet. I still love the food and service here.

It’s a family owned restaurant and they were so nice to us. We came here after supporting a friend running marathon and they were kind enough to chat & ask more about the runners and gave us their support. Not to mention that the food was also bomb!!!

We found this restaurant when we were driving around at 4 pm looking for a vegan friendly place that was open. It turned out to have a lot of vegan items in additional to meat dishes. My vegan friends had tofu sandwiches, vegan vermicelli and vegan pot stickers. They loved the food and encouraged the owner to promote their restaurant the SF Vegan Society. I also liked my lemon grass chicken with fried egg. The staff was very nice, attentive and friendly.

I love this place! The food is amazing and the family that owns it is so kind and sweet. I wish I lived closer to it so I could eat there more often. I highly recommend this place! My favorite thing is the tofu vermicelli bowl.

Egg & Tofu Bahn mí was delicious, fresh crispy bread, tofu was juicy, jalapeño’s not too spicy and it had the perfect ratio of filling 💚 10/10

The owner is very warm and welcoming, as are the workers. One of the better banh mi places in the city that I’ve tried!

Literally our go-to place after coming back from a trip. It's always our first meal. The family that owns this place are some of the kindest people and they make fantastic Vietnamese food. My partner says it's his favorite beef pho of the places we've tried in the Bay Area, and they are definitely the best vegetarian pho you can get in the Bay. There's a really solid, but short vegetarian menu -- in fact, some of the family members are vegetarian too. My favorite is the vegetarian spicy noodle soup that use bún tươi, which are these round, rice noodles that are so QQ and perfect for slurping. The dish is stacked with a variety of vegetables and fried tofu skin, deep fried tofu, sometimes veggie sliced beef and ham...etc. They're super generous with their ingredients and it's a fantastic deal for $14. We both also love getting their banh mi -- the bread is always warm and toasty, has a good crust and pillow-y inside, and the picked vegetables are done just right. They also make a mean and strong Vietnamese coffee if you're looking for a kick.

Food is authentic and good. The same level I usually get in my hometown in Dallas, Texas. Would recommend if you're craving for Vietnamese food. I ordered special beef noodle soup, crab noodle soup, and egg rolls.

Pho was delicious as was the bbq pork belly sandwich. The wonderful hospitality by the couple running this establishment was what made a trip a vacation. Henry and his wife were so kind and gracious. They made sure to fill up all of our water bottles as they knew we would be walking for some distance to go. They were all smiles while asking questions regarding my group and I. Genuinely a part of the present. Food was wonderful. As was seeing Henry run out of the restaurant to bring us all water bottles at the end. An unnecessary kindness. Thank you so much for the great food and being so polite and kind. What a wonderful couple and restaurant.

Simple, fast, yummy, vegetarian options, and it’s super affordable! Great customer service, too: everyone who works here is so friendly and accommodating. If you need a quick bite in the Richmond, this is the place.

Stumbled upon this place randomly, and it was SO good. BBQ pork was one of the best banh mi Ive ever had. Really kind attentive service. Good prices. Overall a real gem.

This neighborhood Vietnamese spot is one of my go-to faves for pho and there are plenty of other delicious dishes to round out the menu. I recently stopped by for lunch - the first time since lockdown - and enjoyed a hearty meal. You must show a vaccination card in order to dine in. I had the crab paste pho and the hubs ordered the combo plate with chicken and imperial rolls. Both were flavorful and fresh. Service was friendly and prompt. Highly recommend the lemonade as well!

My first-time visit. The space was medium and neatly arranged. Staffs were nice and helpful. Food comes up fast. The seasoning is strong, the cut meat is soft and not dry. Reasonable price not too cheap.

Great service, good food. Had bbq pork and shredded pork over rice. It was wonderful and the price the good.

Simple Vietnamese breakfast-lunch on Clement, noodle soups are specialty. Though a relatively limited vegetarian/vegan selection, the staff is clearly enthusiastic. Spicy noodle soup with 5 different meat-alternatives. Vegan broth, while good, not the most flavor-forward.

The owner of this place is the kindest man. He always comes out to say hello to my little son. The food is also amazing, some of the best Vietnamese I’ve had in 25 years of living in San Francisco. It’s a lovely restaurant run by wonderful people. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
