My manager and I went there to celebrate hitting quota at the end of the quarter. The drinks were amazing, the glasses were chilled, and the food was even better. River (bartender), SF local, hooked us up with the best recs & we loved getting to know Albert, the owner. 12/10 would recommend the brisket & mac!!!

Was very surprised at how good the bbq is here. Brisket is one of the best I’ve had in SF (yes, I know). Great ribs and riblits. I keep coming back because my kid begs for their curly fries. A rare queso sighting as well.

The pork spare ribs are good. The brisket decent but not the best ever. Pulled pork alright but nothing to write home about. The one item that sets this place apart from other bbq joints is their potato salad. The food is ridiculously expensive. See photo of what $100 incl tax & tip gets you. It’s sad. Half a rack, 1/2 lb brisket = 3 slices, 1/2 lb pulled pork = a scoop of meat, and a large of potato salad. Not even a side of sauce. My love affair with this place has come to an end.

I was visiting my pal'et Squeaky and her squeeze the Big Banana at their home on Columbus Square and they had some BBQ delivered from The Hardwood Bar & Smokery from just a couple of blocks away. It's now my favorite BBQ place in the city! This joint is true BBQ, cooked with low temperatures and smoke from select hardwoods. The ribs were amazing!

Not too many BBQ spots in the city, hardwood will get you by. First time here I had the brisket sandwich and it was pretty solid, tender meat good portion on the sandwich. This time around I opted for the catfish sandwich. I must say it was filling and had good flavor. The fish had a good crispy texture and the slaw paired well.

This place is the TRUTH. The meats were all perfectly cooked, and delicious. The sauces were other-worldly in their excellence, drinks were tasty, and service was great. I want to go hide in the walk in and set up a little tent inside and become a squatter in this establishment so I can eat this food constantly. Its insanely dank. You gotta eat here forreal.

Excellent cocktails, friendly service, and great BBQ! The pulled pork and ribs were excellent. The side salad was super fresh, coleslaw was crisp, refreshing, and balanced and veggies were super vibrant. Love that it wasn’t super sweet or drowned in mayo. Corn muffin was excellent…also love that it wasn’t sweet. Most BBQ places go overboard on sugar but everything here avoided that. 👍 The beans had lots of veggies. Flavor was good but could have used a tad bit of salt for our preference. Lots of street parking when we were there on a Sat at noon…no game at that time. My basil gimlets were balanced and flavorful and went down way too easy.

Shared a Caesar salad, the smoked BBQ platter, chicken wings and a coleslaw. Everything was fantastic! 👍 My favorite was the ribs. Very tasty with a surprisingly sweetness to the rib. I could have eaten a whole plate of the ribs. The chicken, sausage and brisket were all delicious. Would have been super happy with a plate of any of those meats. 🍻 selection is very good. Lots of options on tap. Service was great. Super nice people. Place was crowded because of the warrior game. But staff still was unbelievable. Definitely would come back again!

A friend and I were looking for a place with barbecue and came across this on Google maps, since we were closed we decided to head on over. The staff there is very friendly, we were seated immediately and inside is a really good vibe. They have a bunch of sports shows that were showing and after being brought some water we were immediately given the menu and told of some of our options. We got one of the trays that has all of the sampling of meat that they had and everything was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to go back!

The Cook's said this was Bay Area style BBQ (Beef Brisket & Pork Spare Ribs). This was the best BBQ beef brisket I have had in the bay area. I went back and tried the BBQ pork spare ribs and they were very good too. The atmosphere is good for team events, quick lunch and happy hours. It is a bar so plenty of beers and full bar. Make sure to try the Habanero sauce, it is awesome. It sweet at first but will sneak up on you so becareful.

A real solid Smokehouse! One of the best places in SF to get American BBQ. Let’s start with the meat, the ribs were perfect. Tender and sweet but not too sweet with the perfect amount of char. The brisket had a lot of flavor and the chicken was handled really well. Top notch stuff so far. Now let’s not forget what every good BBQ needs, sides. The curly fries were good and the Mac salad was even better. They had some very nice baked beans and also some fantastic pickles. This place has some big portion combo options which makes it perfect for large groups. If your a BBQ fan Harwood is a must try, bottom line. Dos BBQs up 🍖🍖

This place was great. I loved the pulled pork sandwich. It was flavorful and smoky and didn’t really need bbq sauce. The curly fries were great too. My friend had the beef brisket and said it was the best he ever had. The store ambiance was great too. It had all kinds of wood-themed decorations. Seems like a great place to grab a drink as well. If you like bbq, add this local bar to your list to visit for smoked meat or drinks.

I have finally found a place that knows how to make brisket properly! I've wasted about a hundred bucks on brisket at various places over the last 6 months desperate to find somewhere that has delicious brisket. It was absolutely delicious! Can't wait to go back and order a half pound or a full pound.

The BBQ here is legit. And the potato salad and greens were flavorful and seasoned real well. I love the mustard BBQ sauce. I wish they served Mac and cheese and baked beans. Those are BBQ side classics they are missing. 4.75 stars

Hardwood BBQ is a hidden gem in San Francisco, surpassing expectations in every aspect. Their Pork Tips are literally insane. While San Francisco's indoor smoking laws have hindered the BBQ scene, Hardwood rises above, showcasing a Texas-worthy dedication to their craft. Their unique use of white cedar wood imbues meats with an incomparable flavor, solidifying their position as the city's supreme destination for smoked meats. Kudos to the owners and staff for their unwavering dedication to excellence.

I came here with a group of 15 and was so grateful they could accommodate us on short notice. The service was quick and excellent despite the size of our group and the food was great. A coworker said the BBQ pork was the best she’s had in her life. I had the chicken and it was good. Margaritas were also tasty.

BBQ was great! I love that they have a beer and shot combo. Made me miss my days in atlanta. The staff was friendly and service was fast. It wasn’t really crowded. We did the plate for two and left with leftovers. One thing was I wish the meat was a little warmer. Some of it was room temp, probably from waiting on the rest being finished.

Having some delicious brisket from Brisket Prime a few months back. Bbq can be heavy and put you in a really good after lunch nap at work! Had not been to Hardwood (SF) since pre-pandemic days. My co-workers and I wanted to have something different amongst the limited amount of food offerings around work. It'sone of those days where you say, " Why not? Let's tackle some BBQ" minus the spiked Arnold Palmers and Hard Seltzers! Tender and juicy beef brisket and pork ribs. Very delicious dry fried salt and pepper chicken wings. Now if they only made some banana nilla pudding to end a great lunch!
