This is a great hole in the wall spot for banh mi. There’s no seating and it’s cash only so you know it’ll be good. Really glad to have found a spot that sells banh mi for under $5! The quality is great, portions are fairly large (each sandwich is about 1 lb), and the service is quick. We got the roast chicken and pate ones and they were both delicious and filled with cilantro, jalapeños, pickled carrots and lots of meat! They also have tofu options for people who are plant based! Amazing!

Disclaimer! It’s CASH ONLY! This was the first time I’ve ever tried a banh mi and there just happened to be one close by. It was only $5 which is pretty cheap. It was so good and I finished the whole thing. The chicken was really good. It came with carrots that were pickled. And the pepper gave a nice spicy kick which enhanced the flavor. There were onions and a sauce as well. It was delicious and I totally recommend this place. 10/10 will totally come back. EDIT: This is my favorite place to eat now and I recommend chicken or meatball pork. It is SO good I tell you.

This is my favorite Vietnamese sandwich shop in San Francisco. The lovely ladies that work here are awesome. They are super fast with the sandwiches. That's all they do. Make great sandwiches. Their secret is the fresh bread that doesn't cut the roof of your mouth. The generous amount of pate makes the sandwiches perfect . Each bite makes me look forward to the next one. 10/10.

How many of you out there love pâté Banh Mi like me? Mix of liver and "other"chopped pieces of goodness! Or do you think it's "gross"? Saigon (SF) is a original SF institution and still does it well with the right amount of bread, toppings and sauce. For only the price of a gallon of gas ⛽ at Costco ($4.75)! For that price, you can also choose Tofu, Roast Chicken, Roast Pork and Meatball. The "combo" sandwich costs $6. Wash it down with their Vietnamese iced coffee for that caffeine jolt!

A hole in the wall place in tenderloin.. a lot of homeless here so you really gotta be careful walking these streets.. I took a bus to the closet stop and walked about 5 mins to the store and took a bus straight out of there.. the sandwich is so good I went back again..

This place has been serving banh mi’s before non minorities knew what a banh mi was. Saigon Sandwiches proves to be consistent, fast, affordable, and most importantly, satisfying. I would recommend their sandwiches to most. Better than Lee’s down the street.

Great place! It’s very affordable, so there can be a line sometimes. They are quick though. Take-out only. The banh mi is great, especially for $4.50. It’s a regular for me. The Vietnamese iced coffee is pretty sweet.

Cheapest meal in San Francisco, $5 for an awesome sandwich! During our stay in SF we went back twice. Took roast chicken and roast pork, split it in half, got one of each. Wish it was closer, so good and delicious. Yum!

Cash only. Take out only. $5 sandwiches and $4 Vietnamese coffee. They have canned drinks for $1.50, too. Very fast service. Great place to get a quick bite. FYI fanci pork is deli meat, not BBQ.

One of the best places to get a sandwich in San Francisco. Delicious and a great value! Can't beat it for $5. The chicken and the meatball are my personal favorites. Loaded with cilantro, shredded carrots, and fresh jalapeños. The peppers are a bit spicy.. enough to give me hiccups, and I regularly eat spicy food. Super fast too! Tried calling and couldn't get through but I walked in and ordered. Was out of there within 5 minutes, probably less.

Great sandwich at a great value. I really like the special combination, but roast pork is also a nice meaty choice. One of the best bangs for your buck in the city. Bring cash!

The trip is worth it for the price — $5 per sandwich, which are filling and tasty! (I had the pork, my friend had the chicken). The Vietnamese coffee is super sweet (as it should be). CASH only & TAKE OUT only!!! Also my friend and I (both women) were accosted by men on the way there /in the shop. So be careful & have cash on you.

Hole in the wall and a neighborhood gem in the heart of the Tenderloin district of Sạn Francisco, and only a 20 minutes walk from Union Square. This Banh mi sandwich deli have been here for more than ten (10) years, possibly longer. Love their combo and beef. They give really huge portions both on the meat and bread. They also add a ton of pate spread that will make your mouth water. Really good banh mi price from $4.75 to $6.00. A great deal and very inexpensive especially in San Francisco. Take out only and they do take credit cards. I highly recommend. Cheers!

This is Not a Việt namese sandwich It’s horrible A piece of cheap bread stuffed with 2 slices of packed pork cake and chewy beef and diced carrots is NOT a Việtnamese sandwich This shop was good 20 years ago, but do not buy into it just because they called themselves Việtnamese Don’t be fooled I bought 6 sandwiches today and 5.9 was in the trash After the 1st bite the bread crumbled to piéces Squeezed it little harder you will get an ooze of pate mixed with mayonnaise, and 1/2 the bread is now soaked wet and starting to fall apart. The filling is too much of what is not fresh. The green cilantro covered the old chả lụa was the only familiar look. (Not taste)

Delicious bánh mì. It was a pretty good-sized baguette as well. The price is well worth it, especially after seeing other nearby bánh mì places that charge at least $10 for a fusion style (which didn't seem authentic to me). I recommend this place. Parking was not easy to find though.

Cash only- I didn't have cash on me so the guy behind me paid. Told me to pay it forward. I thought that stuff only happened in the movies. Hands down cheapest meal in San Fran. There is a line because its cheap and good. Workers are happy and seem like they love their jobs. One sandwich is good enough as a meal for the average person. There's a reason there is a line. The reviews are legit. Try this place.

Had to swing by on way to hotel... Good memories from last time I was in town. Grilled Pork didn't disappoint. Bread is more dense than other more "traditional" bahn mi

Seems pretty overhyped to me. Got a couple of specials and it was terribly portioned. Hella meat on one side and all the veggies on the other so each bite was overwhelmingly imbalanced. With bites that had a good amount of everything, it was still ... just alright I guess. It's pretty cheap and the sandwich is indeed loaded with meat so that's a huge plus. Food: 6/10 Service: 4/10 Value: 6/10

Fast serving, you can even stop for 1 min and order then back to your car. I had a vietnamese coffee also, i find it a bit strong but was tasty. We ordered sandwiches tofu and chicken, there were pretty big and after eating one I was not able to eat anything else. Good prices.

I order ten sandwiches & ask to separate the vegetables. All sandwiches are nicely packed with names marked. Taste good still after few days 🥰

Best value sandwish for $5 only place you can find a sandwish with this low price in the whole bay area. And the sadwishes are so tasty and flavorful big portion of protein and meats and veggies as well in a crispy bun me bread

In a city comprised mainly of overpriced food, small portions, usually made with very little care (just facts), stands a glimmer of hope in the heart of the tenderloin, Saigon Sandwich. If you’re wondering why this place has outstanding reviews, and people go to SF’s worst neighborhood to try it, just stop by and see. A roast pork sandwich for $5, stacked with meat on perfectly toasted bread. All they ask is that you bring cash to pay, and get it to go. Pretty fair trade in my opinion. Make sure to ask for jalapeños to complete the perfect Banh Mi. I bet that after one bite, you’ll already be planning to come back.

Providing delicious and nutritious sandwiches to the community for $5, this is easily my favorite spot in the entire city. Fresh baguettes, flavorful meats, and refreshing veggies make for the perfect bite. Cannot recommend enough!
