Normally I get the hot roast beef dinner which is so darn good, but today I got the fish and chips they were really good also! We get take away often too and our food is always packed great to carry and the staff is always very friendly! Went today for breakfast and as usual it was great!

I must say i had a very good experience here. Food was great. Hot and fresh. Not crowded and got a booth right away. Service was good and i will be going back again for sure. You can get breakfast anytime as well!! It was a little expensive for the foods we got. However, inflation is hitting everywhere hard!!

First time visiting the surprising diner.. it looks like they built on to the original diner and still have much of the retro look. There is lots of seating, even outdoor. The waitress was really friendly and very accommodating to my 4 yr Olds whims.. the food was definitely traditional diner food and it was good! I ordered the hot turkey platter, but it wasn't as hot as I was expecting. Other than that everything else was great!

Very nice original Mountain View diner from the 1940s. I had meat loaf and mashed potatoes, which was excellent. Traditional diner comfort food. Worth a detour whenever you're in the Scranton area.

Nice diner with very fair prices and courteous yet slow service. Not sure why the coffee is served in a to-go cup placed into a mug?

Glider diner. A-mazing food! Gravy is the best on everything!! Their breakfast is always great too. Family friendly style or date night in a booth.

I wanted home cooking but I just got out of work at 8pm. So I said let me try the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and coleslaw . BOY oh BOY. Whoever cooked this meal . Please tell them it was delicious. The coleslaw was the best I've never had. I enjoyed that meal. I'll be back soon to try the turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. 😋

I have been going to the Glider restaurant for at least 40 years. I moved out of the area, but I still go every time I come back. Color me surprised when they have switched the fries to some breaded seasoned garbage that look like you could’ve got it from a fast food place. The place is always kind of grungy anymore. The tables are covered with plastic over top of a battered up table cloth. The bathrooms are always disgusting. Food just is not what it used to be. Service is not much better. And where else in the world do you have to pay extra to get gravy on your mashed potatoes?

I tend to travel around and usually a diner is my go to when in a new area, that or a truck stop as the two usually can be counted on to have good food. No such luck this time. I was looking at this place and another local diner a both were rated close enough to be the same. However, I’m a sucker for classic styled diners and restaurants so this place won just by the design of the place. My dad ordered pancakes and sausage which were adequate. I usually order lunch regardless of time of day. This was one of the few diners I’ve been to that doesn’t serve lunch all day. So I ordered the country fried steak. Which usually is something I’ll enjoy. However this time it was all but inedible. It was definitely frozen at one point as it has that unmistakable texture of freezer burned meat. It was cooked to the consistency of jerky and was alarmingly gray in color. The experience was much like chewing a fried belt coated in gravy. At least the gravy was quite nice. All in all I wish I had chosen the other place. I cannot recommend this place even when I’m back in Scranton I’ll not return.

Standard diner fare, great food and fast service even though we had a large party. Their corned beef hash was a bit dry but very delicious.

I had the glider sandwich for the 1st time 2 weeks ago with a side of gravy. Then today I ordered the roast beef platter with mashed and gravy and another glider sandwich to take home. It is delicious!!!! The roast beef is cooked great. The gravy is amazing you could seriously put it on anything. The mashed tasted homemade!!! I am def a customer for life!!!

We got the open face roast beef sandwiches as takeout. We’re both quarantined due to having covid. A friend of mine dropped off the dinners at my house. The potatoes were cold and the roast beef was just shoved over to the corner with no bread. The reason we got the meal was because it was an open faced sandwich. I quickly called the store and was told to wait an hour for the manager to come in. We were starving so we ate the food although disappointed. Once I called the manager she was rude and talked over me. She automatically assumed I wanted a full refund and said no refunds would be given for missing bread. What really astonished me was that she actually asked if we ate the dinners because she was going to come to our house with new ones only if she could collect the ones we didn’t eat. Now this would have been a from a house having two people with active covid at the time. I highly think this is disgusting as she would have brought our covid germ infested meals back to the diner to get thrown away. Plus she may also have been in contact with covid by coming to our house. Her only other option was to give us extra bread and gravy the next time. Stupid. I’ll never go there again if that’s how they operate business by putting regular customers at risk of Covid germs. Disgusting!

We absolutely LOVED the Glider Diner. I'm a huge Office fan, so this dinner was on the bucket list, and we were not disappointed. The portions were huge and the food was delicious (the stuffed French Toast was no joke!). Our server, Angela, was amazing. It was clear to us that she cares about the food, the diner, and her customers. If I didn't live in Alberta, Canada, I would be a regular customer.

All around great place. Great service, great atmosphere. The glider has been around a long time. I can't think of any other diner or restaurant that's been around as long as the good old glider. My grandfather met Andre the giant and a few other big time old school wrestlers there. Maybe Hulk Hogan. He told me they all used to go there when they were in town performing.

Anyone who says they had good service is a lier because service didn’t even exist here. We ended up getting up and walking out after 15m of waiting and asking multiple workers to take our order. Was given a horrible sarcastic attitude from one of the waitresses. Would not recommend at all. We saw 4 other tables that also weren’t being attended to as well with 0 communication of what was going on 👎🏻. Go to Boulevard diner instead, it’s 4m away and had 10 times the service in the first 30 seconds we walked in and it sleeps amazing in here!

I have been going to The Glider since I was a child, and now I take my own children. The staff is always very nice, and the food is consistently good. However, they need to do something about the flies. There are drain flies all over the restaurant, landing in the food and drinks. I couldn't take my leftovers home this visit because flies had landed in the food after I finished eating.

First time here, was in town for an appointment. Service was amazing as well as the food. Server recommended trying the Scranton's famous fries with cheese and gravy and it didn't disappoint. Also had the chicken cheesesteak which had real grilled chicken which is the way they should be made. Delicious and HUGE!!! Great portions for a Great price!!! Everything was amazing.

The food was very hit or miss. The hot porkette I got was perfect and was just like what my mom would make growing up. But the kids meal and my friends burger all came back drier than bone and overcooked. Server was friendly and great, service and food was served fast.

I'm sorry. I love diners and am always looking for "the spot" wherever I may be loving or traveling. I specifically go to diners for breakfast. Diners fans know what makes a cozy and great diner. It's the food, comfort, portions, service, price and charm. This place does not rate above average or less than average in any of those categories. Service was abysmal and I was at the counter. Not even a thank you from the waitress. While this place looks fun, cozy and interesting...thats the end of it. The inside is cramped and without personality. I got the steak and eggs. While the price was pretty good, the food sucked. The eggs were bland and the steak....the steak was a laughable thin Jerky-like peace of garbage. These are just opinions, but if you're looking for a diner for that "cheap, good food, service, comfy spot that you'll go to again and again, totally skip even trying this place.

Went for lunch about 120pm. Walk in and seat yourself! The waiter came quickly for our drink order . they still had breakfast I ordered cream cheese strawberry "stuffed" French toast and it was to die for! ( two french toast slices with scoop fulls of a sweet cream cheese on top of each and strawberries to top off. Technically not stuffed)Only try of you have a sweet tooth! 😋 the waiter did Take a bit to bring us our check. Two tables next to us had a hard time receiving things they asked for but I don't think it was intentional at all , they were busy and she seemed to be one of two waitresses working . They have outside seating if you walk through to the back doors, the tables are covered under a Pavillion! Very cheap ,delicious, filling, and the food came fairly quickly with it being as busy as it was!

My wife and I went out for breakfast and randomly selected to go to the Glider Diner. I have never been so impressed by a diner trip as I was then. First, the food was amazing! You might be thinking - How could you go wrong with breakfast? My answer: by not going to the Glider Diner. The portions were huge - pancakes the size of the plates and thick and fluffy. They don't skimp on the sausages either - not those pencil thin links but local meat market sized sausages, and everything was so good and flavourful! Also, the most impressive thing about the diner was the service. Our server was April, and we just loved her! It was like we had been great friends our whole lives. She was very conversational and attentive to anything we needed. She was a genuinely kind person! I would recommend the Glider Diner in a heartbeat!! I hope to go back soon.

Such good food! The roast beef pot roast was probably the best I have ever had, even my boyfriend said he hopes to have dreams about it. The diner was clean and our waitress was amazing. Highly recommend!

Had breakfast here this morning. Everything was nicely done and this place is kept up well. Will definitely be coming back here whenever I return to Scranton. Note that if you need wheelchair access they have a ramp out back. I overheard one of the waitresses mention that most people don't know they have a wheelchair accessible entrance.

The chicken Caesar wrap would’ve been good if there weren’t 2 inedible romaine hearts in them. The rest of the food we got was great, but the service from one waitress was awful. We walked in and nobody seated us or anything; we weren’t sure what to do because it was our first time there but nobody helped so I went to get menus myself. I gave them to my table, and had not spoken a word to any staff yet. And the waitress comes up rudely and condescendingly speaks to me in our first interaction. Definitely put me off being treated like a child. She was saying efficient things but in the rudest way. Her behavior and words would never fly in a real city like New York or Philly. They hire people with manners. If you want good food for Scranton, then go there but don’t expect nice service from the taller waitress with brown hair working in the front room. When I addressed the romaine hearts she just smiled fakely. She did not apologize or try to remedy it like the manager eventually did. Her reaction alludes to her asking the chefs to put them in the wrap on purpose. She’s definitely not cut out for waitress work where you need to be a pleasant person, but it’s Scranton so ig it’s expected.

Stopped by after Mass for All saints Day. First time back in many years. Food was good. I tried the macaroni and cheese app and roast beef sandwich platter with gravy fries and wasn't disappointed. My aunt got the grilled ham and cheese. Also good. We liked it. On the other hand I could see how someone would negatively review this place as the service was very incredibly slow and other people who came in after us got served before us and had eaten and left by the time we received our food. Also the bathroom door didn't seem to lock so I was worried about someone walking in opening the door while I was using the bathroom. Bathroom was kind of filthy. Looks like the HVAC system hadn't been maintained or cleaned with the vents in many many years.
