First time ordering a 1 piece Halibut and Chips. Omg...so disappointed! The Halibut piece was small compared to other competitors in the area. Lyle meat, thin and mostly batter. Over kill on the price...when I ordered I thought for $16.95 w/ tax this fish better be meaty and a good portion. It was not. They also charge for extra tarter sauce, ketchup and mayo. Not impressive whatsoever...will never return!

I ordered the 3 piece Haddock for my family today. Told them I would be there at 6pm to pick it up. Arrived a couple minutes early, they packed it up right at 6. Was home in ten minutes and it was fantastic. We would highly recommend this Fish and Chips restaurant. Lots of traditional signs, friendly staff. My son loved it too!

I ordered halibut and fries. Halibut was good for the price, except it was terribly greasy. Fries were not done enough. The server at the widow needed to check the attitude. He was pretty rude to the older man that clearly had a disability in front of me. When I mentioned his customer service, he told me to mind my business. I'm happy I ordered my food beforehand.

My parents have enjoyed this spot for many years. Great fish and great fries! Malt vinegar?! Of course! Seven days without fish makes one weak

Multiple issues over several visits: first time I came, the shop was closed 15 minutes early. Second time I called to order, no one answered and I had to go in and wait 35 minutes after placing the order for the one guy to prepare it... and he wasn't busy. Third issue was the quality was very bad- I know old oil was used because the fries were overdone, hard and dark and the fish was not only tiny but dripping with grease. The batter was thicker than the fish. I had to pull off batter as it was inedible. I had quite the stomach ache after.

We've lived in St Catharines for a year now. We live close and these guys offer a good no nonsense fish and chips. I don't think it's the cheapest you'll find but we're definitely always happy. Takeout is fast, ready within 40 mins even on holidays. Staff is friendly. There's some complaints in the reviews about about stuff being undercooked, etc. I have never experienced this. Only good things. Just a good local takeout spot. Enjoy.

I have never eaten here, but I just want to say my dogs and I really appreciate the bowl of water you leave out for the dogs. It's such a pain to juggle 2 dogs and carrying water on hot summer days. So thank you for giving that to them so they can get a drink half way through out walk.

Obviously under new owners! The two gals who owned it originally knew how to keep customers coming back. I used to get the 2 pc halibut dinner when they owned it and the halibut portions were huge. Enough to satisfy 2 people. Not any more! They take 1 halibut fillet and cut it in half to call it 2 pieces. Whole dinner was greasy and overcooked. I'm afraid they've lost my business!!!

The Good: Fryin Guys has a quaint 1950's "mom and pop shop" atmosphere. The young guy behind the counter was really polite and welcoming. There are tables inside so you can sit and eat. The cook, JP, went out of his way to come out and introduce himself which was pretty awesome. The prices are reasonable (especially considering the price of fish right now) and the menu is fully disclosed online. The service was fast but its not "fast food". The Bad: The fries were a little over cooked but the fish made up for it. We could definitely have survived more tartar sauce. No healthy options available (no salads/ veggies) but not unusual for a fish and chips place. They do have mushy peas and coleslaw however. The Awesome: The best fish and chips I've had in a very long time. Perfect crust on the fish, gorgeous golden brown colour, quaint take ut container. What more could you ask for. The fish is nice and tender without being chewy, and has a slight vinegary aroma that will remind you of authentic Irish cooking. There are 3 types of fish on the menu, pollock, haddock and halibut. I chose pollock (the cheapest option) and it was AMAZING! The Verdict: Great fish and chips place at a wonderful price.

Quick and prompt service with a generous portion size and fair prices. Would 100% recommend and will return. Some of the best fish and chips I've had in a while. Popcorn shrimp are also very good!

Disappointed. Drive over an hour and half and chose this place based on positive reviews. When entered was receiving different information from the 2 guys behind the counter. When I asked a question one guy kept interrupting and rushed us even though there was nobody there. The fish itself did not make up for it, as the reviews had us think and the portions small for the price. Would have appreciated a smile from staff and the ability to ask about the fish they sell without being rushed. Edit To the owner: You are correct we did not visit this year. Sorry for the confusion. We planned a trip for our anniversary and chose your fish and chip place (we had our first date at one) to be part of our day. This review is for your restaurant, but correct me if I'm recollecting wrong. We walked in and there was a chair on the right side before getting to the counter, opposite of beautiful large windows. We had asked if we could wait outside and I remember it was by the red bench and a door opened. An employee came out to smoke. I was pregnant at the time. My review reflects only my experience, however it was not written lightly. Wish you good luck on your move.

Everything was great about this place. Fish was fantastic. Fries were great and the gravy was delicious. I know it's just powdered stuff but I think they must enhance it somehow. I'm sure all the locals know about this restaurant but if you are new in town or staying at a hotel, go get dinner here. You won't be disappointed.

Being new to town, I did a Facebook poll asking community peeps for fish and chips recommendations in my area. Many recommended The Frying Guys. Good call! Cameron was friendly and professional and obviously takes pride in the products, as well he should! I had the halibut and really enjoyed my meal! One of the few places that offers house-made tartar sauce! Everything was delicious and Cameron was a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend!

Not called Fryin' Guys it's now Lake St Subs and Ice Cream. Very friendly staff and good food, just a little slow since they are still new and getting to know their way around

We have used them before and were always satisfied. This time we have never had such a disgusting meal. The 2 pieces were so small they wouldnt qualify as 1 piece. And it was overcooked and more batter than fish. They have lost my business indefinitely. The pictures were taken on lunch plates so if it was on dinner plates would look even smaller

I was beyond impressed with their professional attitude towards me and their business. Honoured a past promise to correct an issue with an order. NOT my experience in the past with others since the Covid delivery protocol happened with the closures. Can’t say the same for Pizza Hut…but Frying Guys is a stand up crew, with a great attitude to the customer and AMAZING SEAFOOD. I will never buy fish and chips anywhere else; ever. THANK YOU FRYING GUYS STAFF.

For me - number 1 fish and chips place on the planet. Ate here with my Dad as a kid growing up. I now live in OKC and visited last month when I was in town visiting my Mom - just like I remembered. Great food and great service.

Greatest place for Halibut fish n chips, been going there for a long time. not cheap either. Ordered about 1 month ago and it was awesome n good size piece of fish. Ordered today, was very disappointed on the Halibut portions, for the price of 2 pieces of Halibut n chips , was shocked by the portion received.

They suggest I could “stay” safe with the Haddock or I could go over the top with Halibut!!!! I chose the Halibut and was SO NOT disappointed. It was awesome and I would definitely go back.

What is this guys? Ordered the two halibut and these portion sizes for the price are a complete and utter joke. I really wish I saw the review with the pics prior to ordering from here for my first time; never again. Insulting to be honest when you compare to other fish and chip places. In addition, the halibut was really chewy which means overcooked, a double whammy. Popcorn shrimp tasted previously frozen too.

We tried this place for 1st time a few months ago. The fish was excellent the portions were large but we didn’t like the fries bc they were dark & plain. Tonight, Friday Oct 8th we gave them a 2nd try & we’re happy we did. The fish & portions were great again & the fries were delicious. The fries were lighter in colour & seasoned very lightly with salt & pepper. That made all the difference this time for a great dinner. We’ll be back again.😀Thank you. From Kristen

Excellent fish and chips, almost as good as British ones. Since moving to Canada the hunt for good fish and chips has been on. Here the fish is well cooked and a good size. I eould prefer they provide skinless chips (fries) but these are excellent tasting as well.

SMALL PORTION!! Kinda disappointed.. had the 3 piece halibut a couple weeks ago and the portions were great everything was fine.. today we got 3 tiny pieces of halibut that look like they were cut in half to stretch out their supply or something. Common.. when you're paying 45 dollars for 3 pieces of fish they shouldn't be so damn small..
