Foreigners are charged too much as an entrance fee. On June 2, 2023, we paid 6.500.000 toman(irr/10) per person. Visually, the palace is perfect. The Garden with the Pool and the room with the mirror were the most striking places.

The palace is near 450 years old, its built by Aqa mohammad khan the first king of Qajar dynasty. The palace is located near tehran old bazar and is very interesting. The mirror hall which has built with thousands of small mirrors is very amazing. The paintings are also very intersting, some of those are paited by famous painters like kamal ol molk, and some are gifts from kings of other countries. You’ll enjoy it. At the enterance you can buy an audio guide which explains the history of palace and every hall and room and also every pieces inside the palace.

A Glimpse into Iran's Royal Past: Golestan Palace in Tehran Rating: ★★★★☆ Golestan Palace, located in the heart of Tehran, is a captivating blend of history, art, and architecture that offers a unique insight into Iran's rich royal heritage. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, culture aficionados, and anyone interested in exploring the opulent legacy of Persia. Historical Significance (★★★★☆): Golestan Palace, dating back to the Qajar era, has witnessed centuries of political intrigue and cultural transformation in Iran. The palace served as the residence of Qajar kings and rulers, making it a historical focal point for those interested in Persian dynasties. Visitors can admire the elegant structures, courtyards, and halls, each with its own story and purpose. The edifice is a testament to the dynastic struggles and adaptations that have defined Iran's history. Architectural Marvel (★★★★★): The architectural beauty of Golestan Palace is simply mesmerizing. The complex boasts a variety of buildings, each with its own unique style and design. From the stunning Mirror Hall (Talar-e Ayeneh) with its breathtaking mirrored walls and ceilings to the impressive Marble Throne (Takht-e Marmar), the palace showcases the superb craftsmanship and artistic talent of the time. The intricate tile work, exquisite frescoes, and beautifully landscaped gardens all contribute to the visual feast that is Golestan Palace. Cultural Richness (★★★★☆): Golestan Palace offers a window into Iran's vibrant culture. The museum inside the complex features an array of historical artifacts, including regal costumes, royal portraits, and ornate jewelry. These displays provide valuable insights into the customs, lifestyles, and preferences of the Qajar rulers. Furthermore, the presence of traditional Iranian music and performances within the palace compound adds an extra layer of cultural immersion for visitors. Visitor Experience (★★★☆☆): While Golestan Palace is a treasure trove of Persian history, the visitor experience can be somewhat challenging due to limited signage and descriptions in English. However, guided tours are available and highly recommended to enhance your understanding of the palace's history. Additionally, the presence of a well-maintained garden provides a peaceful retreat in the heart of bustling Tehran, making it a pleasant spot for a leisurely stroll. Accessibility (★★☆☆☆): Access to Golestan Palace can be a bit tricky due to Tehran's notorious traffic. Finding parking can be a challenge, and the city's chaotic atmosphere can be overwhelming for some tourists. Nevertheless, the palace's central location in Tehran makes it relatively convenient to reach. In conclusion, Golestan Palace is a cultural gem that offers a glimpse into Iran's opulent history and artistic legacy. While it might not be as famous as some of the world's other historical sites, it holds a special place in Persian heritage. If you have an interest in history, architecture, and Persian culture, Golestan Palace is well worth a visit, though you may benefit from taking a guided tour to fully appreciate its historical significance and artistic grandeur.

A must see if you are in Tehran! Golestan Palace is full of opulence from the Royals that reigned the beautiful land of Iran. Foreigners are expected to pay higher entrance fees than locals. There is so much history and architectural beauty within the palace grounds.

One of the most high ranged places you have to visit in Tehran. It is a UNESCO world heritage site which is located in a Qajar period of time. The whole story of Qajar period was around 200 years ago. Very recommend. Magnificent attitude in saving history. Update 20 Oct 2023 Same as before it was amazing 😍

Tehran has been started with Arg(Fortress) of Tehran, and this Golestan Palace is center of kingdom. A very beautiful architecture from the Safavid to Qajar dynasty (mostly Qajar) is laid here. It takes at least 3 to 4 hours to visit the hole Palace. Don't forget to visit Shams-ol-Emareh if it is not closed due to filming (that occurs frequently).

Nice and neatly run. Good security, there are guides. It's a great place to take pictures if not busy. You can rent historical persian costumes for your family. The palace is fenominal, the architecture, etc. It has self-explanatory written info as well as QR barcodes that you can scan on your smartphone for extra reading on the items and buildings using Avayar website/application. A must-see.

The most important reason to visit this palace is to know more about Qajar kings. It is a very huge palace with different parts, so make sure you put enough time in your itinerary. Salam hall I think is the best place there. The problem is parking so get ready to have more time to find a place to park your park.

Golestan Palace occupies pride of place in Tehran's history. A heritage site today it is a complex of buildings and gardens initially built buy the Qajar rulers and used as their court and residence. Later on much of it was re-done and was finally used by the Pahlavi dynasty as an official space largely for formal receptions. It's ended as being an amalgamation of Persian and European art and architecture. It is opulent. It is surrounded by lush gardens. It will take a large part of the day to see it all, so keep sufficient time aside.I fall in love with this magical historical site. Badgir Building and mirror hall were more than amazing. Totally brilliant and for me one of the best in Iran and whole world.

The Golestan Palace is an absolutely beautiful museum located in the heart of Tehran. The Palace itself is divided into several chambers and museums, and you pay for what you want to see. The most popular choice is the gardens, the marble throne and the main part of the palace. Tickets for these three parts of the museum are 3 500 000 rial for foreigners / around €10.

A must-see attraction in Tehran, located near the grand Bazaar of Tehran. It was built in the 16th century, renovated in the 18th century and finally rebuilt in 1865. It is the former official royal Qajar complex in Tehran. the Golestan Palace belongs to a group of royal buildings that were once enclosed within the mud-thatched walls of Tehran's arg ("citadel"). It consists of gardens, royal buildings, and collections of Iranian crafts and European presents from the 18th and 19th centuries.

At the heart of Tehran, adjacent to the Grand Bazaar, Golestan Palace and Garden is a magnificent day trip down Qajar history with stunning mirror artwork and luxurious halls. Ticket is self-checkout and audio guides are available at entrance. Public facility (toilet and prayer room) is not managed or cleaned - shameful, as many tourists visit. A cafe would be a great addition to the complex to enjoy the garden area and to take a break (visit will take 2 to 4 hours).

Tehran's arg ("citadel") was built during the reign of Tahmasp I (r. 1524–1576) of the Safavid dynasty (1502–1736), and was later renovated by Karim Khan of the Zand dynasty (r. 1750–1779). Agha Mohammad Khan of the Qajar dynasty (1742–1797) chose Tehran as his capital. The arg became the seat of the Qajars (1794–1925). The court and palace of Golestan became the official residence of the Qajar dynasty. The palace was rebuilt to its current form in 1865 by Haji Ab ol Hasan Mimar Navai. During the Pahlavi era (1925–1979), the Golestan Palace was used for formal royal receptions, and the Pahlavi dynasty built their own palace (the Niavaran Complex) in Niavaran. The most important ceremonies held in the palace during the Pahlavi era were the coronation of Reza Shah (r. 1925–1941) on the Marble Throne and the coronation of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (r. 1941 – 1979) in the Museum Hall. In between 1925 and 1945, a large portion of the buildings of the complex were destroyed on the orders of Reza Shah. He believed that the centuries-old Qajar palace should not hinder the growth of a modern city. In the place of the old buildings, commercial buildings with the modern style of 1950s and 1960s were erected. (Wikipedia)

Terrible place to trick tourists. I don’t recommend it unless you want to be fooled. Locals will pay 15 000 toman (0,3€) but you, just because you are a tourist, you will have to pay 650 000 toman (13€) which means 43 times more than any other person. After 2 months in Iran, I have been ok paying 10 times more than locals for most of the tourist attractions, but 43 times more? Are you guys out of your mind? Do you think we are stupid? You can keep your palace for yourself and for the tourists that wants to be cheated. Not for me.

This magnificent palace shows us very well how luxurious Iranian royalty lived. Firstly, entrance fees were expensive for foreigners. I have to say that I hate this attitude. We paid 25 usd for two persons. Marble throne, glorious saloons and beautiful gardens...all of them worth seeing. In addition the ethnological museum was interesting. It takes about two hours to visit this museum. Don't forget to take water with you.

the best and most unique museums in Tehran. It has a large and royal courtyard and several buildings, each of which is a separate museum from the Qajar era in Tehran. In addition to its precious paintings, this complex has a rare collection of old photos dating back to 100 years ago. Everything is good, only I wish there was a shop to buy water or other necessities.

Golestan Palace is one of the masterpieces of Iranian art history. Although we had bought tickets online, they asked us to buy other tickets due to the price increase, and they didn't accept online tickets, So we had to wait in line for a long time. Golestan Palace was unique in every way, but as they said, the government had taken out many photos, etc. from the palace museum. So the palace was different from the previous years. Perhaps a whole day is not enough to visit this beautiful place, because each of the belongings of the museum had remarkable details. The photography room also included cameras from the Pahlavi era. Golestan Palace Museum will make you proud for the history of this country.

The Golestan Palace Garden, located in Iran, is a lush oasis in the heart of Tehran. This historic garden is a serene retreat, featuring meticulously landscaped greenery, beautiful fountains, and exquisite tilework. It serves as a living testament to Persian horticultural traditions and offers visitors a peaceful escape from the bustling city, making it a delightful place to explore and unwind.

I recently visited Golestan Palace in Tehran and found the atmosphere to be quite interesting. However, I was disappointed to see that the palaces and mirrors were not as clean as I had hoped. Additionally, not too many rooms of each palace were accessible, which was a bit disappointing. The photos could also be improved. I also felt that the staff could have been more friendly and accommodating. Lastly, I was surprised that there was no brochure available for visitors. Overall, it was an okay experience but there is definitely room for improvement.

One of oldest monuments in Tehran, this is a palace worth seeing. A Qajar Palace that was the seat of the monarchy for around a century, Golestan Palace has some beautiful rooms, artefacts, and buildings. It is particularly noted for the mirror mosaics that coat some of the rooms.
