We had to stop a waiter to place our order after waiting for 20 minutes. Two of us ordered salad instead of chips, the other ordered mash instead of chips. The two salads were just flat leaf lettuce with a dressing on. The one that ordered mash, got chips which were cold. The burgers and ribs we had were very tasty, but very small. I definitely wouldn't go back, as you do pay a lot of money and would naturally expect better service and sides.

I was very optimistic about this place as reviews were very mixed, however the service was great, it was very easy to reserve a table via Google and was seated promptly on arrival, the food and drink was quick to arrive and our server Manon spoke good english to help us understand what we were ordering. The meat in the burgers arrived how we asked and were reasonably priced, really good place and would recommend to everyone

The food is as reliable as anywhere else in Hippopotamus chain of restaurants, but we had to run after the waiters and the maitre d' for service.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is inviting and cozy, creating a warm and intimate setting. However, I would note that during rush hours or busy times, the space can feel a bit cramped.

Good food, good service. Maybe a suggestion to make sure that all dishes have vegetables.

Don't be put off by the "chain like" facade of this place. The food is excellent, the service attentive and the drinks submine. We'll worth a visit.

This is a very cosy, family restaurant. We find it by chance en route to south of France. It was next to our hotel. The food was very fresh and well presented. The staffs are super helpful and very kind. Would definitely pop back if we stop by next time.

We were staying at a local hotel and the restaurant was in easy walking distance without having to go into the centre. We hadn't booked but were immediately shown to a table although the restaurant was quite busy and our order was taken quickly. The staff could not have been more friendly and attentive and the food and drink service was nicely paced. The food and drink was competitively priced with very generous portions. Very good value for money. Lovely atmosphere.

We had a lovely meal before Christmas, so we booked again on New year's Eve. Very disappointing. They bought a little metal bucket with some savoury mini pasties as a little courtesy starter ...pity they were stone cold, therefore not good at all. I chose the same soup a l ognon that I had eaten the first time as it was excellent. This time , watery, the cheese wasn't melted, very little onion in proportion to the liquid. The dessert even worse : I have eaten some lovely Iles flottants in France, but this one was pretty awful. The creme was liquid to the point of being watery , the ile was just like some soft polyestiring foam. I understand that the kitchen must have been super busy, and can make some allowances for that, but both dishes were obviously just slapped together with no care at all...not up to their usual standards and I would urge the manager to check in the future what the kitchen delivers

The atmosphere is excellent with amicable service. The menu is diverse with lot of choices. The food is okay, you might have to respecify your level of cooking required as all the plates in my table were undercooked by one level. But the meats taste good anyway

I always visit them when I'm in Troyes. Great food and friendliness describes them.

Good location and pleasant enough environment but the food is dreadful - never tasted potatoes reduced to ashes before - and the service is very slow. I had to ask three times to finally obtain industrially made ice cream for children. The drinks came blatantly filled below requirement. The onglet meat was tougher than usual.

The service is very slow. Food is dry, once I ordered 《l'entrecote》 i wasn't able to cut it, and once I ordered chicken, it is tasteful, I don't think I will visit this place again.

Ideally located next to a movie theater in the city of Troyes. I had the choice to either dine in the Champaux street or walk 5 minutes to Hippopotamus. I was agreeably surprised by the quality of the service. Recommended. Try their meal to share.

It calls itself a steakhouse but I think they must precook the steaks then stick them in a microwave as my bavette was about as dry and cremated as I'd ever had, though I asked for medium rare. If you like your steaks properly cooked, don't come here. Fries were good though.
