We were meant to stay in the Suite Spa Bath room for 4 nights, but we left after one. The room is undoubtedly striking, but it has not been maintained properly. The shower doesn’t drain and there is a stagnant pool of smelly water, which makes the room smell like damp. There are stains on the curtains and sofas, the bins are crusty with trash from previous guests, and generally the whole room is quite dirty and sticky (especially the bathroom). The staff was very polite and handled our complaints well, letting us leave without too much of a fuss.

Had high hopes but was a bit underwhelmed. NO running hot water. Best they had was warm water. Couldn't enjoy the bath tub 😞 wanted to boil water, but their kettle is super bad quality, boiling only after 15-20min (my house one boil in less than 5min) So in the end I couldn't soak at all. Tried to get motorbike but after waiting 20min nobody informed me the status. Decided to search myself and got everything within 2min as the rental was a few house down. Not sure why they couldn't find. On good side. Bed was comfy. And Aircon works well. Garden is pretty. And they have gym. Probably a solid 4.0 score hotel. But definitely not 4.7 star review as per google or hotel booking websites especially with this price tag (Subjectively speaking)

We stayed here for 2 nights in private pool villa. The service was extremely slow despite there were hardly few guests staying. Property is not maintained and we saw SNAKE near the spa area. Post informing this to the staff, they were least bothered. There are plenty of insects & lizards. Staff is not good. For the other experiences/services they charge huge fees. Extremely commercial and not accomodating at all. Highly not recommend this resort to anyone.

Over rated and over priced. When it comes to the bali, There is a thousands of options to stay. So I recommend to stay the other property for your perfect stay. Room is good but very humide. Especially the bed sheet is almost wet... so I couldn't sleep well. And the complimentary service such as yoga class, afternoon tea isn't free any more so you should pay for it. Also the shuttle service offer only 3times a day! Overall, very dissapointed this stay 😔

We stayed in the river view suite for 5 nights and while it was a beautiful room it is in big need of a deep clean and maintenance. There is a strong mould smell and mould stains on the walls, base of the bath, shower, pillows and outdoor umbrella. Tiles on the floor are also very worn. I wouldn't usually mind but we paid AU $1600 for this room and for that price there are much better options in Ubud. In saying that it was a nice place overall with helpful staff and lovely facilities. The river view suite is very unique and beautiful as it's right in the jungle. We could see a monitor lizard from our pool which was cool.

Lovely staff and close to Ubud centre, however we left after staying there for 1 night. It was impossible to sleep in the room because of the humidity and mould. Bedding was damp from the humidity and the AC was mouldy, as the rest of the room. Staff tried to help us by showing other available rooms, but it was no different in any other room. The hotel itself is in a need for a renovation.

The hotel itself is nice and service is pretty good but the room (Valley Suite) was bad - the initial room we had was on the first floor and upon entering there was a very musty/humid smell. The bed felt wet (due to humidity) and didn’t feel very clean, we couldn’t sleep the first night (body felt itchy) and the aircon was really loud. Second day we requested to change rooms and staff handled it fine but the room wasn’t much better. The bed still felt wet and dirty and it was obvious the quilt was very very dirty and old. The toilet and view from the room was nice but doesn’t matter if we can’t even sleep on a proper clean bed. Will not recommend

We stayed in the river pool villa Serayu. It was the furthest villa but we didn’t mind walking around the resort’s jungle. Our bed was comfy, the room itself was spacious and had a desk, which was a plus as we had to work on some days. The bath with the jungle view was incredible. The only downside was our pool’s water - it was super cold as it was in the shadow during the whole day so we didn’t really enjoy it. However, the main pool with its bar is super cosy, big and great for swimming as well as all day chill. The breakfast was delicious and I was super happy about the avocado on toast option as many resorts seem to leave this one out. We also treated ourselves with one hour of Balinese massage in their Radha spa and we had a blast! All in all, we had a great time in Sankara and we will be coming back soon.

STAY AWAY!!! STAY AWAY!!! STAY AWAY!! We checked out early due to such a horrible experience. My husband and I came here for our honeymoon we were extremely disappointed! Paid for the honeymoon welcome package prior to arriving and they didn’t arrange for this to happen yet was still charged for it. We both were getting bit by ample bugs inside the room so canopy is pointless, there was dirty tissue in the shower left behind from previous guests, personal villa pool was filthy didn’t get the opportunity to use it, spiders throughout the room and webs everywhere. No room service after 10pm so good luck getting food after a long day of exploration. Had a terrible experience and was extremely inconvenienced. I would not recommend staying here at all.

This is the best place to stay in Ubud. I cannot stress enough on how good the staff here is. Each and everyone at Sankara treat you so kindly that you feel like home there. They have a beautiful restaurant overlooking the green fields, infinity pool with a bar, over 29 suites with alll required facilities. They also gave us free 10 minutes massage which was the best massage EVER!!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE and we'll come back soon for sure.

A peaceful and beautiful hotel away from the Ubud hustle but still close enough to get to the center easy. The staff is absolutely amazing. I loved the gym which has such a cute vibe. Something you have to know is that the soundproof in the rooms is not the greatest but it's not worse than anywhere else in Bali where you don't have your own Villa.

Lovely location with an excellent pool. Staff are caring making sure you get back from Ubud town centre safely. Only issue was the room cleaners come twice a day, at 6pm when your most likely getting ready to go out so you have to politely decline but di get on our nerves a little. Music in the reception and restaurant area is very repetitive.

The facilities at this hotel are also very satisfying. The restaurants serve delicious and varied dishes, satisfying my culinary tastes. I also had the opportunity to try spa services that calmed and pampered me. The beautiful swimming pool is the perfect place to relax. Overall, I am very satisfied with my stay at these places.

We arrived at the Sankara Suites & Villas after a very long day of travel. We were greeted by very friendly and helpful reception staff along with a welcome beverage and then promptly brought to our room. The room itself was spectacular, although a little dimly lit but that did not bother me. Our infinity pool was just steps out the door and had a lovely jungle setting behind it. This was our most spacious accommodation during our entire trip. We had a delicious buffet dinner that night with a traditional Balinese dance and fire show - again, spectacular. The floating breakfast the following morning was also phenomenal, albeit a little on the pricy side. All in all, we had a wonderful time here and look forward to returning in the future.

I stayed in a suite villa with a private pool and it was absolutely amazing. Everyone who worked there was so kind, helpful, and accommodating. The room itself was clean and they provided fresh fruit and Balinese coffee which was so good. The hotel as a whole is beautiful, the main pool overlooking a beautiful view of green Ubud. Would definitely recommend staying there and would love to return

Lovely resort, nicely decorated and very friendly staff. Food is really good, but pricier than in Ubud restaurants. Plenty of options for the included breakfast, which can be served in your room for no extra charge. A pleasant surprise was that we did not have any mosquitoes. Pool area is also really nice. One negative aspect would be the air in the room. When we arrived, the air inside was very humid and there was a strong stale smell, but it got better after we kept the AC on and terrace doors open. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sankara Suites & Villas in Ubud, and I can confidently say that everything was excellent. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, making my stay even more special. The cleanliness and tranquility of the entire property were impeccable. The serene surroundings, nestled amidst lush greenery, provided a perfect backdrop for relaxation. The staff's attentiveness and willingness to assist with any request was truly commendable. Whether it was arranging excursions or providing recommendations, they went above and beyond. Overall, Sankara Suites & Villas exceeded my expectations in every way. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful and luxurious retreat in Ubud. I look forward to returning in the future.

Our Bali vacation was perfect in every sense and the hotel was definitely a highlight. We arrived late in the night, the immigration took way longer than expected. The staff had complimentary sandwiches ready for us when we checked in because they figured we might not have had dinner. The rooms were spacious and clean and the service was impeccable. The restaurant was good and the spa was amazing. It's a bit pricier but you definitely get what you pay for.

We can only rate this stay as an average one. The room is indeed very smelly and humid. They try to compensate this with air fresher, which is not really helpful. You are not able to dry any of your cloth. Swimwear stays wet all the time. The pool is very nice! But, unfortunately the music is quite loud and not very relaxing. Staff is friendly.

I recently stayed at The Sankara Suites & Villas and that was truly exceptional. The staff was incredibly helpful and the service was top-notch. The setting was absolutely stunning and it was the perfect place to unwind and recharge. In my experience, this hotel far surpassed many of the well-known hotel chains out there.

Excellent Hotel. The rooms are amazing. People are nice. Try the spa. The massages are great. It's open place on the nature with the sound of the river. Very professional. In our package we had the breakfast which is excellent with a menu on which you choose healthy one, American one... We also had one our package the "tea time" with excellent Balinese desserts. Really nice experience. We will come back.

I had a wonderful stay here with my wife for our honeymoon. The staff and the resort itself were an unforgettable experience. Staying here truly beats staying at a big resort since you get a more down to earth and warm experience and a true sense of what Bali is like. The staff were super accommodating with everything and the food was amazing - that we couldn’t help but eat at Laddu restaurant for breakfast in restaurant/dinner for room service every day. We even tried the spa on the resort and it was one of the best massages we had. I would highly recommend staying here. Food 10/10 Staff 10/10 Amenities 10/10 Room (stayed at pool villa - Kavery) 10/10

Great hotel, stayed there right after Bali reopened to tourists in March 2022. Felt like a dream, the hotel was very quiet but peaceful. Staff was amazing, spa services were excellent, food was delicious. I asked for an upgrade to get a private pool suite and got the upgrade for a few bucks, honestly a dream. Highly recommend.

The Sankara Suites was a nice place to stay for just a few days. My family and I stayed in one of the hotel rooms with a private pool. The pool was nice, quiet and private, but also super cold and hard to swim in due to its temperature. The staff were wonderful, sweet and helpful, but the food was expensive for its worth. The breakfast was wonderful, but the lunch and dinner was mediocre. The live music was nice, but so loud and awkward due to the absence of guests. The public pool was beautiful, and a great temperature. The view from the edge was wonderful, and made you never want to leave. The room was clean, and we slept very well, but the bathroom and shower was not private whatsoever. The massage was not that good. It was very light and not really soothing. The location was nice, even though it is far from the town center of Ubud, so you have to get a cab each way. I definitely recommend the Sankara Suites.

Sankara Suites is a pretty property north of Ubud city centre. Located in the lush countryside, the hotel has a beautiful infinity pool that looks out at the lush forest. The hotel has some rice fields closeby as well. The rooms are large suites. They come with a large jacuzzi or a plunge pool. Most suites have a big sit out area, perfect for lounging during the day. The hotel provides a shuttle service to the city centre, a few times a day. This must be booked in advance. Breakfast was good and the staff are helpful. Large rooms and a lovely pool are the best things about Sankara in Ubud.

This place is amazing! Perfect balance of luxury and affordability. The team were so attentive and took great care of us when we had Bali belly. The facilities were beautiful and great for our slow recovery from illness. The spa is exceptional and completely unexpected. Would definitely recommend!

Great hotel! Great staff and vibe around the hotel. Everyone goes out of their way to greet you and help you! Very good food! 10/10. The staff took my allergy to nuts very seriously and went above and beyond by ensuring there was no cross-contamination for my food. I felt extremely comfortable. Angi was really helpful! Great service! Spa treatment was reasonably priced and unbelievably relaxing with the noise of the jungle in the background. They also have a voucher for a free 10min massage and discount off a massage. There is a shuttle service to and from the centre of Ubud which was very handy. The beautiful pool was open 24hrs which is amazing to get the full jungle experience! Would stay again.

Myself, my husband and my daughter stayed in a Pool Suite Villa for a week in September and I have nothing but positive things to say. We went on customised trips most days with our absolutely amazing driver, Sanjaya, who went above and beyond to make sure our trips were perfect. He always made sure he took pictures and videos of us to ensure we captured the experience. We all took part in a cooking class where we got to experience the morning market. The class was fun and informative. The food in the restaurant was delicious and there was a lot of choice for breakfast. Everything we had was amazing. The staff were really helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The manager was especially helpful. All staff were always smiling and chatty. The pool was great! The shuttle service was a bonus so we could go into Ubud to explore. The staff had lots of recommendations about where to go and what to do. We felt totally looked after the whole time. We even took a couple of trips to the spa for some massages which were absolutely amazing and the jungle view made it an unforgettable experience. We would definitely go back and were sad to leave for our second hotel!

The staff is very friendly and attentative. The food is very affordable and tastes soo good. Also they offer a shuttle three times a day to Ubud center. The massages are very nice. They also had an affordable laundry service price per kg. Now the stuff that was not so great: be aware that if you take a villa they are not completely closed up at the roof. We had a villa with river view. We had Serayu which is deep inside the jungle. This could be quite nice but we had barely any light there and therefore the pool was freezing and I found the darkness depressing. Also geckos can come inside through the roof. The roof is very high and they hide in there. We had a bigger gecko that screamed once an hour the whole night. We didn’t get any sleep the first night. They tried to catch it but it’s not easy. So we moved villas but also there was a screaming gecko. They really need to close up the roofs. Also they could clean the rooms a bit better. Especially the corners. Also the blankets felt very humid. The blanket inside the sheets didn’t look quite clean. The sunbeds were also not clean so we never sat on them. What was weird is that the TV in villa Serayu was very old but our second villa had a smart TV. The cleaning staff also constantly forgot to put new bottled water in the bathroom or forgot to put new drinks in the mini bar. The breakfast menu was very confusing. They have different menus. Some have 3 choices and some 4 also some had more or less options. We had both different menus at the same time.

My wife and I visited the Sankara Suites for our honeymoon in August 2022. Everything about this hotel is perfect. The setting is idyllic, staff were friendly and the hotel provided an amazing start to our honeymoon. Whilst all of the staff were excellent, Janu was remarkably helpful and professional.

  • 4/5 Evan T. 1 year ago on Google
Great stay at Sankara. A very lovely resort with a nice pool. There were rice padi fields beside the location which gives one the sense of truly being in Ubud. Staff were courteous and friendly. The rooms were huge but not v well lit (perhaps deliberately done for the ambience but it it was not easy to get things done in the room). Breakfast was above average but i had better ones in other Bali hotels in Seminyak (not sure if it’s fair to compare them given one is more centrally located) Would I return? I’m mixed about it as I expected more for the price of this hotel.

The bed was a little bit annoying because making some noise When i move a little bit right or left but the atmosphere here is like paradise. Pool is nice, massage is wonderful (epri is the best masseuse), foods are good. The only suggestion i can give is the weather here is really moist and they can give a welcome drink When their guests arrive to the hotel. The money you will pay deserves this drink
