This Suhrawardy Udyan is a witness of many histories. It can be called the lifeblood of the movement in Bangladesh. The place is very beautiful. Quiet environment. In the middle of the bustle of the city, a piece of peaceful place. Here the mind actually gets better. The fun of walking out in the natural environment is different. Good place for children. In fact, they can actually see the history of Bengal.

Maybe the last green place in Dhaka. Good place to take some breath. Just beside TSC. The first call of independence came from here by Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman.

This place is nature-friendly. Visited here to feel free and spend some time. But the place is dirty, park community should be more attentive and responsibility to keep the place clean. Recommending to visit the place for natural vibes. Feel the goosebumps moment of village life.

Suhrawardy Udyan is a tranquil oasis nestled in the heart of Dhaka, offering a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. This sprawling park, named after the renowned Bengali statesman Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, boasts lush greenery, serene lakes, and beautifully manicured gardens. Walking through Suhrawardy Udyan, one can't help but feel a sense of peace and tranquility. The park's spacious pathways are perfect for leisurely strolls or brisk jogs, while its shady groves provide the ideal spot for a relaxing picnic or a quiet moment of reflection. One of the highlights of Suhrawardy Udyan is its historical significance. It was here that the historic rally of 7th March 1971 took place, where Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered his historic speech calling for independence from Pakistan, setting the stage for Bangladesh's liberation war. In addition to its rich history and natural beauty, Suhrawardy Udyan also offers a range of recreational activities for visitors of all ages. From boating on the tranquil lakes to enjoying rides at the children's playground, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Overall, Suhrawardy Udyan is a gem of a park that holds a special place in the hearts of Dhaka's residents. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat, a dose of history, or simply a place to unwind amidst nature, Suhrawardy Udyan is the perfect destination.

This place is so beautiful, environment is also nice, so many people come here and pass their time. You can also find that some individuals are singing, some are skating and so on. But one thing is that no one can allow basically after evening, becauae guards start to remove everyone that time.

Recommending to visit the place for natural vibes. The place is awesome to hangout with friends. There is a tower and also an underground museum, but the place is not too clean. Park community should be more responsibility to keep the place clean.

Suhrawardy Udyan is a sprawling urban park located in the heart of Dhaka , the capital city of Bangladesh . It was earlier known as Ramana Race Course Maidan . At one time the military club of the British soldiers based in Dhaka was established here. Later it was called Ramana Race Course and then Ramana Gymkhana. The ground was sometimes called the Dhaka Race Course after British colonial rule and legitimate horse races were held every Sunday. After Bangladesh's independence, Ramana Race Course was renamed Suhrawardy Udyan. It is also a national monument because Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered his March 7 speech here. On December 16, 1971, Pakistan Army surrendered to the Allies in this garden. The erstwhile Hotel Intercontinental, located near the Race Course Ground, was initially designated as the site of surrender by the Pakistan Army, but later this ground was selected for the surrender. Formerly known as the 'Race Course Ground', this place has provided the ground for the origination of our country by sparking the fuel inside every struggling citizen of former East Pakistan. A historical place closely linked to the birth of a nation, is reflected by the never ending fire(Shikha Onirban) in front of the independent museum, mausoleum of three leaders inside the park.

A Park in Shahbag contains the Muktomoncho, Bangla Academy, museum of Liberal war & the eternal flame. This place contains a lot of tree, nice walking track. Also it's under maintenance, they're trying to upgrade facilities inside the area. Safe to bring your family & children here. Cycling, roller skating are allowed. But no entrance for your lite vehicles.

Not a great place to visit. You will see smokers, drug addicts, ganjakhors everywhere. It's not a good place to visit. And the environment is not that good. Everything is pretty bad their. I really won't suggest anyone to go there. If the government don't take any actions for this environment, I don't think this will ever change. It really needs a new look, new environment, everything new.

The main attraction of the Swadhinata Stambha is the Stambha itself. Stambha means pillar or tower in Bengali. The tower was built on the place where the commander-in-chief of East Pakistan Army Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi signed the papers of his surrender...

Suhrawardy Udyan is one of the few green park in Dhaka City. This park has a huge area. People can come in this place from many gates. This is a green park with a Museum called Independence Museum. This place has also historical importance. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has given a historical speech here. People from every age of Dhaka tend to come here with family and friends at weekend or even weekdays. Students and young people also come here for gossiping. Overall, a good area for the people of Dhaka city to feel greenish.

Suhrawardy Udyan, formerly known as Ramana Race Course Maidan, is a national monument located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is named after Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy. Originally it served as a military club for British soldiers stationed in Dhaka. It was then known as Ramana Race Course and later as Ramana Gymkhana. After the end of colonial rule, the place - sometimes known as the Dhaka Racecourse - was used for legal horse racing on Sundays. It is a historical place as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave his speech on 7th March here. On December 16, 1971, the Pakistan Army surrendered to the Liberation Army and the Allies on this ground. The erstwhile Hotel Intercontinental near the Race Course Ground was initially designated as the site of surrender by the Pakistan Army, but the ground was later selected for the surrender. It is the resting place of three great national leaders Sher-e-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Haque (1873-1962), Hussain Shahid Suhrawardy (1892-1963) and Khwaja Nazimuddin (1894-1964). Ramna Race Course is named after Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy. A Mughal structure named Dhaka Gate was built adjacent to the park area of Suhrawardy Udyan. The gate was built by Mir Jumla II in the 1660s. Independence Museum is located in Dhaka Park area. The museum depicts the nation's history from the Mughal period to independence in 1971. The museum was opened to the public on 25 March 2015, Bangladesh's 45th Independence Day. Moreover there is now a flame that shines brightly 24/7 signifying a vibrant Bangladesh... If you are a tourist then you should definitely visit Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.
