I booked this room for two nights in Feb for the begining of April as a base for the day of my wedding day and also our first night together as a couple. We live in Maastricht, but I needed a room to get ready in and a place to take some photographs before heading to the ceremony. We phoned the hotel to ask if this would be alright. We even drove there to see the room and if it will meet our needs. We arranged everything with you in person. With our minds set at peace we went ahead and booked. Then on the day I checked in, the receptionist didn't know anything about what was discussed or arranged before. There was no note made or anything about it being our wedding day and night. I guess I just expected a little more from a hotel of you class and status. You know, that extra personal mile to make your guests feel at ease.

Lovely hotel. Nice staff, perfect location. But only 3 stars because the room we were in was not as quiet as we expected it. The whole night we could hear the persons above us walking around and their flushed water went down in a wall in our room wich was quiet annoying... For the rest we were really happy about the picnic for breakfast. Really nice and cosy idea :)

A website that is not updated lead to disappointment. There is no restaurant. Restaurant SOFA does not belong, not part of accommodation. You got to ring the restaurant and book separately. And they do not tell you when you book. So you will have to drive 20mins to Centrum to have a meal. We had the Royal Suite. Again a let down as the furnishings are mismatched. We booked for 3pax stay in 2 bedrooms. They prepare amenities for 2 pax. The riverfront looks directly a this big ugly grey factory. No point sitting there. There are gardens but no benches to sit. Front desk staff not friendly nor helpful.

Excellent venue for any live event! The venue has both indoor and outdoor areas. It’s very close to Maastricht and easy to get to. Great party venue!

Fantastic small hotel in a gorgeous setting, in the river bank. Bedroom with bath inside the room, extremely stylish, attention to detail superb. Large double bed was very comfortable, warm Quilt. Surprising that the well stocked mini bar was included in the room rate! Ample breakfast brought to the room in a super cute picnic basket. Car charging point just outside the room, extremely handy. Castle View from the room, though access was prohibited. I would definitely recommend this super stylish hotel to anyone. Just a few km from Maastricht center yet in a world of its own.

We stayed at Hogenweerth for 6 days during the covid lockdown period in the Netherlands. Location: The location is very pretty. River Meuse passes besides the castle and on the other side of the river is saint peters hill. Location is quite and green with plenty of space to walk and play around. Rooms: We lived in the deluxe rooms. For the dutch standards and at this price, the rooms were huge. It included a seperate living room furnished with kitchennette, dining table, sofa and a big TV. The bedroom is seperate and a has both the heating system and an airconditioner. The view from the living room is nice. The whole room(apartment to be fair) has a seperate private entrance. Service: In short very accomodating and freindly staff. This becomes more important during covid times where many things are closed and you rely a lot on the service from the hotel. Food: The hotel is very close to restraunt SOFA. However during the pandemic only take aways were allowed. During our stay the hotel started their own pop-up restraunt only catering to hotel guests. The service and the ambience of this pop hotel was great. We were very happy to have the opportunity to have a proper meal at their restraunt during the times where every other thing was closed.

Friend and I ended up in a 2-level apartment at this place. This particular place could use a paint job and new carpets, plus the biggest discomfort for me was the mattress. Too soft. I’m petit and was sinking. My back was hurting. Grounds are beautiful. Odd thing though after we checked out and hung out at the river with our coffee. Their was a hearse at the front of the castle. We found out that was a wake about to start! Yes, a wake. Very odd for a hotel.

The property is a fantastic environment. Very beautiful gardens along the river Maas / Meuse, old but refurbished castle and coach house. Staff very friendly. And a very good and beautiful restaurant on the same property, although not the same business group. So why not a 5-star rating then? Avoid at all cost the two suites Adam Love Suite and Eve Love Suite, next to the reception, in front of the parking lot. The interior architect of these two rooms should have never graduated. These rooms have a bath tub in the same open space as the bed, but no shower facility at all, not even using the same bath tub. As such, you forgo a shower or you splash the whole room wet. In 25 years of very frequent business and private hotel stays I have never seen a more worthless bathroom facility, if you could even call it a ‘bathroom’. The next morning after complaining about the same, initially no alternative rooms were available for the second night. After stating that we would leave then and not pay for the reserved second night, we were given two much better alternative rooms with a proper bathroom with shower. The second reason for my lower rating is that this business is completely understaffed. You start to feel sorry for the few staff, if around at all, for the amount of multitasking they are required to do (combination of reception, bar and breakfast service done by one person…). If not at the reception, you are asked to call the central number. Once in the morning this took me 3 calls and 15 minutes in total, to no avail. Another time, past 23:00 calling the same number connected me to the “Black Label Hotel Valkenburg”, the person only spoke English, and was not at all aware that calls from Kasteel De Doorenwerth were forwarded to the other hotel, let alone could help us to get in the tower rooms general staircase access, with the access door closed. Only with help of the off-duty restaurant staff did we discover a ‘hidden’ door on the other side ‘camouflaged’ in the castle wall. So, if not staying in the Adam or Eve Love Suites and all else without any problems, your stay could be a truly 5-star experience. But when problems arise this business really leaves room for improvement.

We stayed one night with our dog in this place. Despite problem with late check-in, we had a lovely stay. The room is very clean, the breakfast is great, and the property is located in a secluded area however very close to the city center. It's a great value for the price! We will definitely come back again when we visit Maastricht.

Place is nice but it has no identity related to what it was. No historical reference, it is aplace adapted for weddings mainly. good for young people that go for the party, young and in midd 30. If you plan to go with family , better during the week. PERSONNEL is good, trying to deal with the weddings and guests, not easy. Castle inside with no memory , just a bar for weddings. Rooms are same idea, average modern furniture with a lot of use. OVERALL is a 3 star place.

So to start with, we enjoyed our stay.. but, it was mostly a big laugh. Stayed in the Eve room next to the reception. Initially looks nice but it misses all basic functionality. There's basically no way to shower, there's a bath in the room, if you stand there you splash everything wet in the whole room. Sitting is virtually impossible to shower. Sink does basically leak water into all directions, again wetting the floor. TV is so low you can hardly see half the screen being in the bed. Lights lacking, making a lot of dark corners, or you have to open all the curtains and then everyone can watch into your room, especially since next to the reception. Staff being very friendly if you can find them. It seemed one lovely young girl had to do everything there. So when not at the reception you have to call them, which then makes the phone ring in the reception after being forwarded to a voicemail which asks to leave a message, after that informing the storage is full so it can't save the message. 😂 Anyway. Had a good laugh and stay, thanks for the service but this room needs attention.
