Let me start with the positive: The rooms are lovely and the location is fantastic. On the other side, however, our room had two narrow single beds pushed together. This was quite uncomfortable as a couple. Furthermore, I am horrified by the rudeness and utter unfriendliness of the staff. One example of an encounter is upon checking out - I received the exit card for the garage. The receptionist explained the route and how to use it. When I wanted to confirm the route: she rolled her eyes and aggressively scolded me! Regarding the breakfast, spare yourself the hassle! I booked the non-refundable room option - needless to say this also applies to the breakfast. Despite it being an โ€˜optional extraโ€™, not included in the nightly rate (you tick a box upon booking) and being invoiced/deducted from your account separately. I requested to cancel the breakfast for the second morning and again was scolded at. Furthermore, the evening before, the receptionist refused to wait 15 minutes (while I was showering) for us to hand in the form with our breakfast order. She aggressively came to the room to collect it! Dear Anouk, In response to your response, you may want to look 'scold' up in the English dictionary. Your staff did not swear at me (uitschelden), but most definitely were aggressive and unfriendly. That is the truth and you can refer to many other reviews on other fora which are in agreement with my experience. It is up to you what you do with this review and how much you would like to improve the experience of your guests. I am merely sharing my experience. Thanks and kind regards, Elisabeth

The only boutique thing about this hotel is in the name. By far not even a simple 3 star definitely a low 2 star old, dirty, unkept hotel with moldy paint in the rooms, broken cheap Ikea breakfast chairs and access to defective unclean public WCโ€˜s in a mildew damp basement. The rooms are overpriced and the breakfast an absolute joke of cheap cold cuts, stail cereals and cheap coffee from a machine. The location may be central but the street is loud and dirty and next to the hotel an Arab shisha bar, across the street a marajuana supply shop. Nights are loud and often police needed do to these factor. Management is under qualified and inexperienced but the hotel relies on marketing itโ€™s location for occupancy not for clean, quality rooms. Much better hotels downtown with professional management and services. ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿป

Nice small hotel, and queen beds available in some rooms. Unfortunately they do not serve anything in the room, to compensate for corona. So that is a reason not to go for five. We had to arrange our own breakfast and dinner. They do give you plates and cutlery to use, for your in-room dinner.

Nice location, in the mid of everything. But the room is very strange. The bed is facing a transparent shower and it is not nice how the room is made. Also the bed is VERY HARD, back pain every morning ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

The bathroom has no door. Great if you like to use the toilet in front of your roommate. Never seen this in any other hotel in the Netherlands

Can only comment on the booking procedure. I would have loved to see more flexibility there. We booked a deluxe room (155 euro) rather last-minute (~2 days) before our 1-night stay, but my partner got ill with fever soon after. In the early morning of our stay, her symptoms got worse. We tried to negotiate a refund or at least reschedule but the staff wouldn't budge and didn't display any sympathy for our issue. Context: the hotel was nearly fully booked and it seems likely that our room could have been booked by someone else. I proposed to have them promise us a (partial) refund/reschedule IN CASE the room gets booked, but rather dim-witted they weren't willing to negotiate or think along at all. "Rules are rules." I'll check the cancellation policy more closely in the future.

I would give fewer stars if it was possible. The only good thing is the location that we had to reserve because of a concert which we wanted to go in the nearby area. 1. The whole hotel is extremely old and outdated. 2. The steps to the stairs are too steep and the dark carpet and dim light make it challenging to climb the stairs up or down. The wooden stairs are unstable and you have the feeling that they will fall apart. 3. The room is very small. Has nothing but a safe and small coffee machine in it. No refrigerator. No bottled water. Dirty. The walls are dirty. 3. The beds are outdated, old and full of scratches. Come on! At least change those beds. 4. Why on earth would some one pay almost 300 euros for such an accommodation? 5. I did not book breakfast as it was extremely overpriced. 6. We parked our car in a parking lot recommended by the hotel which was 10 minutes away. The hotel gave us a Reduction code which was good. 7. Overall, I was not satisfied with my stay at all. Not recommended.

Hotel did not live up to expectations. Rooms were moderately maintained. The wall of the bed was worn, stains on the walls, old dirty mirror and old cabinet. In short, room maintenance was poor and outdated. It was clearly in need of renovation. The rooms look good in the photos but in reality it was not so. The โ‚ฌ197 for just one night was definitely not worth it for me.

Great hotel in the middle of the city centre. I am very surprised it has "only" a 3.8 Google rating. Our stay in a spacious family room was very comfortable, excellent beds, good shower and real attention for detail. Next time in Maastricht I'll try to book this hotel again.

Although we sadly only managed to spend one night here, our stay was everything we expected it to be. Thanks to its central position, the hotel is easily accessible from the train station and allows for a romantic late-night walk through the city center, after which you can reward yourself with a nice warm bath (bathtubs in the rooms are an awesome touch to complete the super cozy vibe of the hotel). Personnel very friendly. 10/10 would recommend for a romantic getaway with your significant other.

I was really looking forward to my stay at this hotel. Sadly, our plans were cancelled due to Corona and I had to cancel our reservation. The staff was really quick and super friendly in handling our unfortunate cancelation. To me that speaks a lot to the quality of their service. I wish hotel & staff a lot of succes during these harsh times of Corona. I'm hoping to come stay at there soon!

The key to understanding this place is to temper your expectations, particularly if youโ€™re a transatlantic traveler used to American hotel standards. Parking is half a block away and will cost you $20-30/day, which is average for a prime center-city tourist location. The hotel is a converted building where properties are tall, narrow, and old; there are going to be quirks, creaks, iffy staircases, and small rooms. The TVs are laptop-size, and the only place for clothing storage is one medium-size wardrobe, so youโ€™ll be living out of your luggage. Yes, the in-room bathrooms have no door. (Still trying to figure that one out.) None of this matters if you accurately match your needs to your hotel. If your vacations consist of a lot of hanging out in the hotel, watching TV and perusing the amenities, look elsewhere. If you just need a place to crash at night and will be out exploring for the majority of your stay, this is your hotel and youโ€™ll save a few bucks while enjoying the restored-antique ambience.

How you feel about this hotel will depend on what you want and expect from a hotel. If you like the sleak, reliable familiarity of an international chain, then this place is not for you. If you don't mind something a bit quirky, then give it a go. Quirky it certainly is. For me it had a slightly "haunted house" feel with its old fashioned decor and fittings. Mod cons are not in abundance, even the tv was smaller than most laptop screens, but this quirkiness is (for me anyway) quite appealing. Some things were a bit odd (toilet and shower not enclosed by a door for example) and the sound proofing is dreadful (people stomping around on the corridor and closing doors was super loud) but for one or two nights it is OK. Location is excellent, a five minute walk from the central areas of Maastricht and secure parking is available just around the corner. Don't forget, this place offers cheaper rooms than almost any other hotel in the central district, so if you want more, pay more. Cannot comment on breakfast as went to the health food cafe just over the road.

The rooms could be cleaner: there were cobwebs in each corner, the bin was full all the week, nice breakfast with scrambled eggs as the only hot option. Great location.

Great location with access to various tourist attractions and other amenities. Room was satisfactory and clean but bed not so comfortable as it was a two single bed and two mattress next to each other and not a double bed. Daily room service was available.
