A place to visit if you like history. You'll find gifts presented to the prime minister from different countries. Some are recent and some are historic. You can get a glimpse of the historic items from around the world gifted to us. Kids might find this place a bit boring. But there are a few things to see. Photography is strictly prohibited.

The three wings of the main building accommodates Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force separately. The basement floors are allotted to Bangladesh Navy for displaying additional artefacts. The ground floor is a combination of information, utility and it has entrances to the 'Toshakhana Jadughar' and the 'Victory Arena'. Toshakhana Jadughor has circle way.

Toshakhana museum has the collections of souvenirs received by Hon’ble Prime Minister and Hon’ble Presidents of Bangladesh over time from different places. This is a 4-storied building with the entrance through the ground floor of Bangabandhu Military Museum. Worth paying a visit once you are done with Military Museum.

Toshakhana (Bengali: āĻ¤ā§‹āĻˇāĻžāĻ–āĻžāĻ¨āĻžāĻ°) is a specialized treasury for gifts received by the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The gifts are considered property of the treasure and are stored in Toshakhana which is part of the Presidential palace, Bangabhaban. Several of the items of the Toshkhana are stored at the National museum and Toshakhana Museum, which was built in 2018.[1] Toshakhana Formation 1971 Headquarters Dhaka, Bangladesh Region served Bangladesh Official language Bengali Website Toshakhana History Edit Toshakhana is a Sanskrit/Persian word for treasury/treasure house.[2] During the British rule of India, East India Trading Company officials would deposit gift they received from local princes and other dignitaries in the company Toshakhana.[3][4] The Bangladeshi Toshakhana is located at the Presidential palace, Bangabhaban. The treasury includes a flag of Bangladesh that was taken to the moon and sample of moon rock. (Translated by Google) Toshakhana is a state treasury of Bangladesh, which is under the office of the President. However, it is managed by the Cabinet Division. Here various gift items received by the President and the Prime Minister are arranged as state property. According to the toshakhana rules, gift items worth more than Rs 50,000 have to be deposited in the toshakhana. Among these gift items are local or foreign utensils, commemorative coins, various types of souvenirs, portraits or photographs of great personalities, works of art, folk art or handicraft samples etc. Toshakhana is a Sanskrit / Persian word meaning treasury. During the British rule in India, officials of the East India Company deposited gifts in the company's coffers from local princes or royal staff. When Bangladesh became independent in 1971, the toshakhana of Bangladesh was established in 1974 on the instructions of the President. In the same year, "Toshakhana Preservation and Administration Rules 1974" was formulated. It was later amended and the “Toshakhana Preservation and Administration Rules 1990” was issued and the rules were amended again in 2012. Among the preserved gift items are the national flag of Bangladesh sent to the moon, the soil of the moon, the gold-encrusted sheath of the sword, the symbolic Ashoka Pillar and Malabia Minar, the Gazir Pot and the memorial of the freedom fighters. About 250 of these important items are on display at the National Museum. After the establishment, the toshakhana was in the Manuk House of Bangabhaban, then on the second floor of the kitchen of Bangabhaban. The State Toshakhana Museum building was constructed in 2017 next to the Bangabandhu Military Museum at Vijay Sarani so that the common people of the country get a chance to see the gifts given to the Head of State and Head of Government. On 22 August 2016, 728 different types of gift items were transferred from the present toshakhana to the museum for preservation and public viewing. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the newly constructed Rashtriya Toshakhana Bhaban on November 15, 2016. Although a significant number of gifts were transferred from the Manuk House of Bangabhaban, the toshakhana of the Manuk House is still in force as per the decision of the Cabinet.
