Grand Café Brinkmann is a classic "brown cafe" in the Center of Haarlem. This has become one of my favorite places in Haarlem as a classic Dutch cafe. Arriving here from the market side it brings back memories from visiting Haarlem 20 years ago with family. It sits in full afternoon sun with an amazing view of the St. Bavo Church in the Grote Markt. It's about as centrum of Haarlem as it gets. The bar, cafe and restaurant is GROTE indeed (large). It has two floors of tables and the bar is very sizable. The outdoor has a really nice terrace area, under cover and outside of the canopy. There is a beautiful green shrub that is majestic which acts as a nice divider. The service is quite good for such a large place. I can't call it "gezellig" but I'm sure it has its moments depending on where you sit and who you are with. The food I've had there is quite good. This would be a great venue for parties since I saw several large banquet type rooms upstairs, or just a quick coffee on the terrace in the wonderful afternoon sunshine. Get the sun whenever you can here!

Cool cafe in middle of the city centre. Like a typical Dutch 'brown cafe'. Enjoyed a nice beer and a quick pub lunch with Kroketten. Friendly staff, yet the did mix up our orders

Great cafe with fair prices on a beautiful location! The dutch apple pie is textbook, do have to say the orange juice could be a bit bigger, wouldn't mind paying a bit more for a bigger glass.

Busy, waiter extremely nonchalant (to put it politely). Goat cheese salad was a joke...the tiniest piece of bacon, and a table spoon of the announced grilled vegetables... Charging €12.50 for this is just an epic joke. Burger was good. Second round of beers never turned up. Disappointing, wouldn't go back.

Grand Cafe Brinkmann in Haarlem offers an extraordinary combination of stunning views and outstanding coffee that left us thoroughly impressed. This charming café surpassed our expectations, providing a memorable experience for both the eyes and the taste buds. The view from Grand Cafe Brinkmann is nothing short of incredible. Nestled in the heart of Haarlem, the café overlooks a picturesque square, allowing guests to soak in the beauty of the surrounding architecture and vibrant atmosphere. It was a pleasure to sit back, relax, and enjoy our coffee while taking in the captivating surroundings. The coffee quality at Grand Cafe Brinkmann was exceptional. The baristas demonstrated their skill and passion, serving up a rich and aromatic cup of coffee that was a true delight to savor. The beans were expertly roasted, resulting in a smooth and flavorful brew that awakened our senses. We highly recommend stopping by to enjoy a cup of coffee while immersing yourself in the enchanting atmosphere of this delightful café.

Unfortunately, we had to wait about 1 and a half hours for our food, which was okay but definitely not worth the wait. When we asked how long it would take, we were told about 30 min, we were about to leave when the food came out. Also, the bathroom was really nasty. There is potential for this place, though.

Whenever I came to Harlem, I will never miss to came here again, perfect location in the center, big place with very nice building, professional waitress , they always know what I want and suggest something I never tried. Price is affordable, plenty of choices between lunch and dinner, no wonder this place is always full. Happy happy happy

Went in with the whole family. 5 in total. We had a lovely lunch. The place was busy but the staff was friendly and nice. They amswered questions about the local dishes and beers very politely and respectfully. The food was AMAZING! Best Bitterballen I have tried anywhere anytime! Recommended if you want a traditional vibe with young friendly staff and good food!

Adorable space! Over hang when it starts to rain. The service is amazing, al the servers are energetic and attentive! Good with dutch or english (as most places are♥️). Food is always hot and please please please try the hot chocolate, what could be better?

The place is super well located, it looks nice, the staff is welcoming and helpful, but the food is quite disappointing. I ordered a burger and the meat was very, very dry, and the fries where meh. And still, I paid more than 20€ for that (and 5'80€ for a small beer). I left without ordering coffee after seeing that an espresso, double shot, was 4'30€ (!). So... yeah, I guess that's what you get when you go to too touristic places.

Cod with potatoes in curry sauce is good and not too spicy. Avocado salad with Cesar dressing and Parmesan cheese is light and refreshing. Friendly service staff is a plus.

Wonderful location for coffee right in the centre of Haarlem. Cheese cake was nice; staff were friendly and helpful.

Maybe it's just because it was an early breakfast on Easter weekend (our party were the first in), but the experience didn't live up to the expectations set by the decor. It was pleasant enough though and if you could sit outside on a nicer day, the atmosphere of the square could easily swing it.

Very nice classical place with high ceilings. The acoustics are pretty lousy and there is constant rithm noise coming from the speakers, not really music, more like an extra layer of noise. Excellent café if you don't say anything or if you like to shout. The shrimp croquettes were delicious and the staff is really sweet!

One of the most well known cafe’s in Haarlem to get a drink or bite to eat. The service is on point and the food is alright. The real selling point is the location on de ‘Grote Markt’ looking out on the biggest church of Haarlem. A beautiful sight to see.

Very expensive prices, 7.5 € for tomato soup and 15.5 € for caesar salad which is not convenient to me. I just read the prices outside and dropped the menu list😁.

Nice food. Friendly staff. Just thought the sandwiches looked a little sad on the plate, but that's not all that important since the food was very good.

Service below zero. Few months ago I took away a dessert from this cafe, and tried to do it today as well. I'm not living in Netherlands, and for this I've driven from a different city (2.3€/l), parked as close to the center as possible (5.2€/h) just to hear: "we don't do takeaway anymore", "I won't give you anything unless you sit at a table". The fact that it was a kind of gift for other person did not change their mind... To say "I'm totally frustrated", is to not say anything... It's a pity that such pathetic people work there. Nothing human... Will never comeback here. Cannot belive this...

I never tasted a better burger than the one at Brinkmann! I used to never eat burger outside, but now I only eat it there! Friendly staff and beautiful view too

My mom and her cousin were sitting at Brinkman's terrace almost 70 years ago. I have too, countless times, and was delighted to finally share this experience with my husband too. Food and service is always tops, and you can't beat the location.

Great bar and restaurant in the heart of Haarlem. Staff were super friendly and chef went the extra mile to prepare a dish for my wife who has food allergies. Nice selection of local beers also. Cool old building with a tonne of history

Highly recommended. We had lunch. The food was amazing: great gluten free options. I ordered a steak sandwich and it was amazing. My husband had the chicken satay, he loved it. The staff were friendly and so helpful. It's in prime location with a beautiful view of the square. Awesome visit and will definitely go back.

It's always a lovely time in Haarlem, stumbled across this place when walking around in the sunshine and saw a big outdoor patio. Great area and great food! I had hummus and veggies on bread as a vegan option and it was actually super flavorful! I will for sure visit again

😠 I had an unfortunate experience at Wilma&Alberts in October 2022. I found plastic in my garlic sauce, not once but twice. Even after pointing it out, I was served another sauce with the same issue. The situation went from bad to worse when I fell sick just 30 minutes after eating their food, spendin...

👍 A lot bigger on the inside than it looks like on the outside, but still feels cosy. The staff were really nice, and the sandwiches (we had tuna salad and pulled chicken) were good. Great beer selection.

👍 What an awesome little "rugby break" we had at this place, to watch our team win the game. No ways one could say a negative thing except that the water tap in the woman's toilet was not delivering water.
